I know why Carrie is pissed off all the time...

Ive been trying to cut back on the evil red meat so last night I bought a box of GardenBurgers. Supposed to be this bad assed portabello mushroom thing.

Dos Tip- Fat boys arent meant to have to eat a damn veggie burger. Ive had a more satisfying meal from a package of Raman noodles. [And God knows as poor as I was a little more than a year agao I was glad to have it!]

I ended up having to put cheese on it to choke it down.

You ever wonder why vegatarians look malnourished? Its cuz they are!!!

Carrie, next time I talk to Buff between the paparazzi ... Ill see if he cant send you a nice fat steak to cheer you up!:bacon:

Whole Foods... now thats a shit bag store too. Those fuckers dont even carry Coke! At least they dont locally. We went looking for some of that Kosher Coke around high holy time to celebrate with our Jewish friends.... the fuckers didnt even have regular Coke.

But they did mark down our favorite ice wine Jackson Trigg.... and we stocked up recently.

here is a funny thing about "organic" foods.... you can call ANYTHING organic. there is no law on either the federal or state level that says you can't. there are no restrictions on how the word "organic" can be used with respect to food labeling. (i think there is an exception with pork). there is no official legal definition of "organic". only foods that say "USDA Organic" are foods that met the governments criteria, went through an inspection process and are certified as being organic. however, go into any store and you will notice "organic" everywhere... and you will rarely see "USDA Organic".... just just see piles of apples with little stickers that say "organic".

hippies think they are clever with their wonderful, feel good life choices... they are just really very easy marks.

1. The words "turkey" and "burger" do not belong in the same paragraph with each other.

2. Cows and pigs go in the back door of the place I buy my meat from, and they come out the front door neatly packaged, much better tasting and a hell of a lot cheaper than the grocery store.

3. Carrie is so far to the right she makes Mike AI look like a bleeding heart liberal. When XxXotic was posting that she was stupid and an idiot, I thought about correcting him - I don't think she's stupid. I would not be surprised in the least if her next diatribe centered around how Bill and Hillary Clinton are responsible for Hurricane Katrina. Still in all, the attack on Buff for his blog entries is a new low.

I called her stupid and ignorant because she obviously has difficulty comprehending english. Maybe I used words that were too big for her but she OBVIOUSLY didn't read a word I said and insisted on putting words in my mouth.

Sorry, but if you have to resort to putting words in someone's mouth to try to win an argument you're stupid AND ignorant. I have no problem debating someone civally, in fact I prefer it, but when you put words in my mouth that's where I draw the line. I say what I mean and I mean what I say. I don't leave grey areas nor do I imply or insinuate. If I have a point, I make it. I've never in my life been one to mince words or beat around the bush so don't put words in my mouth.

LOL - I was going to say that!

Gonzo did you know I once managed the bakery in a Fresh Fields store? (Whole Foods competitor that was bought out by Whole Foods a few years later.) Their free-range steaks are fucking incredible! I don't know if they're still selling Coleman Beef but back then they were, and the owner came up and spent some time with us when we opened the store (complete with big cowboy hat, boots, and a Texan drawl) and cooked some steaks for us. Best friggin steaks I've ever had.
I'll make a mental note that I need more steak so that I'm not undernourished. ;)

XxX, now that we're in a calmer environment - I wasn't putting words into your mouth. I was bitching about the things going on in N.O., you were making excuses as to why they'd be doing these things (the situation they're in, the part of town they're from, etc). When you make excuses for someone's behavior, you are condoning what they are doing. It's like enabling. It's giving them a free pass, as if they had no control over their own actions.
Think of the man who beats on his kids, and he was beaten by his father while he was a kid. One camp of people will shake their heads sadly and say he couldn't help it, another camp will say he most certainly could, it was his choice to repeat the behavior. I'm in the second camp. No matter what your life status, your situation, your upbringing, whatever - you've always got a choice.
When you excuse away or explain away someone's behavior, you put them in a position of being a victim who helplessly had no control, rather than an empowering position of having control over their own actions and choices.

I had already agreed with you - quite readily - that I'd be one of the ones stealing food, and I'd kill if necessary to defend my family. You seemed to have missed that, or possibly felt that I didn't take it far enough. Don't start trying to bang it into my head again that I would go farther than that - let's just agree to disagree. There were things going on in N.O. that I would *never* do, no matter the situation, and I know this as far down deep in my bones as you can get. You think differently than I do, and you don't know me, so you really have no idea how I would react when put into a certain situation. If it were all so simple as "whenever someone is put into that situation, they'll lower themselves to doing these things", then we'd have seen everyone doing it, rather than just a small portion of them. People do have choices, and they make them. Some choose to fall on the side of preying on others and taking advantage of the situation, some don't. Please for god's sake just believe me when I say I'd be one of the ones falling on the side that doesn't take advantage of the situation. Maybe if you could know me better, spend some time with me, you'd believe it. You spent a lot of time in N.O. and New York immersed in people who'd take advantage - just have faith that not everyone is like that. Even in a situation like what happened in N.O., there are people who wouldn't cross that line (and many thousands who didn't, thank goodness).

Does that explain my thinking a bit better? If not, can you at least respond without all of the insults and name-calling? :)

Again, by assuming I was excusing it you're putting words in my mouth Carrie. You may not see it that way but that is exactly what you're doing. I was NOT, in ANY way what-so-ever excusing what they did. I was trying to make you see it from BOTH sides of the coin. There is absolutely NO excuse for what they did. But going without food, water, having to sit on a roof for a wek in 100 degree weather surrounded by chest high water filled with human and animal waste, e-coli, dead bodies, chemicals and other things, chances are you're not thinking rationally, and when rational thought escapes you, you tend to do shit you normally would not do. The utter feeling of abandonment for not being rescued or helped for 5 days, what did they have to lose? Again, I am NOT excusing it, just trying to make your view a little more objective.

Personally, I think rapists should be put to death, as well as murderers. So know for a fact I do not in any way excuse what's happened. But, there are extraordinary situations in New Orleans and people tend to do extreme things in situations like that. I am not a violent person by nature, the only thing that makes me want to fight is seeing a man hit a woman, but if I were in New Orleans and it came down to some douchebag trying to steal the last bottle of water i have from my kids, then chances are i'm gonna hurt you badly or kill you to protect my own. I'd like to think I would NEVER do those things, and fortunately I was 70 miles west of ground zero and not put in the position to have to make that choice because I honestly could not say (nor could anyone) what I would or would not do if I were in the middle of it.

Unless you're actually there, no one can say for sure how they'd react. Good people are capable of doing VERY BAD things in extreme situations. More often then not they won't, but the chance still exists.

But telling me I was excusing it is most assuredly putting words in my mouth.

I'm with Vick on this one...except for that last line to XxXotic, that I don't understand at all. (I quite frequently don't understand Vick. I'm totally comfy with it by now.) :)

Pssst...Vick...this thread *desperately* needs a song lyric. Personally, I'm up for the Ramones "I Wanna Be Sedated" at this point.

I want to grow up to be a politician
And take over this beautiful land
I want to grow up to be a politician
And be the old U.S. of A.'s number one man
I'll always be tough but I'll never be scary
I want to shoot guns or butter my bread
I'll work in the towns or conservate the prairies
And you can believe the future's ahead
I'll give the young the right to vote as soon as they mature
But spare the rod and spoil the child to help them feel secure
And if I win election day I might give you a job
I'll sign a bill to help the poor to show I'm not a snob
I'll open my door I'm charging no admission
And you can be sure I'll give you my hand
I want to grow up to be a politician
And take over this beautiful land
Instrumental (Brass Band)
I'll make you glad you got me in with everything I do
And I'll defend until the end the old red white and blue
I want to grow up to be a politician
And take over this beautiful land
And take over this beautiful land
And take over this beautiful land
