Whorehouse is not a word he's ready two define for his grandson.
So - this is being defined twice ? - looks like the reporter has little hope as well |
fucking religious holier than thou fuckers.
so he has his grandson unaware of shit that when he goes to college he won´t be able to handle. its like a little dog on chain let him loose he goes nuts. |
"i am not real thrilled with the sign". Some controversy!
Funny find, PD |
People should be able to raise their children the way they want. That is the American way.
PD if some liberal like you wanted to teach your young children what a ho is, and what a butt plug is, and the subtleties of anal sex - I am sure you would be the first to fight for his "Constitutional" right to do that. Why not allow some parent to do the opposite?? |

When did a high school student become a young child? I fail to see where I suggested that the grandpa in question doesn't have the right to raise his kid/grandkid as he sees fit. Grandpa should probably have arranged for his grandkid to tour Bob Jones U, Liberty University or Oral Roberts, however. |
I think Grandpa is really over reacting. I was in high school when Best Little Whorehouse was produced on Broadway, it was a huge hit and then it became a "G" rated movie starring Dolly Parton. It was always referred to as just Whorehouse. It's the title of the play, it's just a word. And I'm sure anyone in high school has heard the word before, if he hasn't, it's time to grow up.

if he wants to blind fold his son by all means let him do it but why mess with other peoples way of thinking and try to take down something just because he doesn't agree? |

It's the Republican way. Instead of teaching your own children your own set of morals and values, you do all you can to make everyone else conform to your standards, and you demonize those who refuse to blindly go along with your plan. |
I am not sure that Republican fits into this discussion any more than butt plug does.

I think you are confused.
A butt plug goes IN an asshole. A Republican IS an asshole. [note - this is a feeble joke. Some of my best friends (and one of my daughters) are Republicans.] |

how do you figure that republicans do not teach their children morals and values? |
Quote:
I'm sure they do. Hell, my dad has been a life-long Republican, as has that entire side of the family. He was always drilling me about character, personal responsibility, keeping your word, etcetera (he was a Marine Lt. Colonel and A-4 pilot). My point, though, was that the Republicans do not seem to be satisfied with just making sure that their own children and other family members follow their values. They want everyone else to do as they wish, as well. The new 2257 regulations are just the latest in proving that point. If you want to be in this industry, then they feel that everyone should have access to your personal information so they can come to your house for whatever reason, even if that reason is to stalk, kidnap, rape and/or kill you. Of course, this is just my opinion and I COULD be wrong... but how many people have to be terrorized and/or killed before everyone else can see this, too? |

each side tries to project their own sense of values on everyone. whether it is failed, utopianistic ideals such as socialized medicine and increased welfare or even less hard core porn online. the difference is that you don't agree with one side and you are biased towards your own, so you percieve it as being a one way street. its not. I could just as easily argue that your anti - Bush stance or anti-republican stance is an example of the exact same thing you are claiming to be against. when you start saying "50% of the population is wrong because...", you already have a weak argument. 50% of the US population did not create 2257. most of the people in the USA, Democrat or Republican have no idea what it is. So how do you figure that 50% of the people in the USA created that law to enforce their values on you? "Republicans" in the USA are not arguing that a porn models ID should be available to the public. Republicans in the USA have no idea that this law exists except those in Washington DC that helped create it. you frustration seems to be very misplaced as you are confusing almost 150,000,000 people with the actions of 100 or so. |

You would be surprised how closely religious right groups follow porn issues like the current 2257 issue. Some of those groups do everything and everything in their power to get laws regarding porn changed and know a lot about issues like 2257. I have little doubt that there will be many people in those anti-porn groups that will have just as much or more to do with geting enforcement actions going against people by prodding the government along as there is from government agents enforcing the actions though only their own actions. |

Bush said from day 1 that he was coming after porn. before Bush, there was already a massive uproar with COPA, FTC investigations and obscenity prosucutions under Clinton. maybe i missed something? 2257 requirements existed before the internet. less than 10% of the adult web even went as far to make a half assed attempt at complying. the industry has never made an attempt to protect minors from porn while knowing it would be a huge problem politically. instead everyone was busy double billing credit cards, reseting homepages to scat.com and spamming 10 year olds with hardcore HTML e-mails. so after 10 years almost, the government attacks. why would anyone be suprised? is anyone willing to go on record explaining how they were completely caught off guard they were and had no idea that tough laws were coming? doubtful. i am no more suprised at christians for wanting to curb the availability of porn online than i am at democrats for proclaiming anyone who tries to deal with illegal immigration in california as being a racist while the economy continues to be bankrupted. in politics, each side is equally fucked up and ignorant.. it has to be for the system to be in balance. what keeps the wheels of our political system turning is the pathetic fact that it is everyones belief that there is only one right answer, they know it and the other side is wrong. every political group has agendas... no matter which side of the fence they are on. that was my only point in responding. i am not saying i agree with the 2257 laws... i don't. but at the same time, i dont care. I dont agree with a lot of things in the world. i dont agree that a hair dryer should have instructions on them telling users not to use them while taking a shower... i would prefer those people were electrocuted. but thats life. you adapt and overcome or die. that is what business is. the more pressure put on this business, the more successful i will be. end of story. |
Geezuz Kee-rist in a sidecar, folks ...
I thought it kind of funny that a person alive in the year 2005 could actually say he wasn't sure he was ready to "explain" what a whorehouse was to a high-school aged grandson. That goes far beyond a discussion of values - unless the grandson has been home-schooled in a cave and denied access to other kids his own age, the idea that he wouldn't know what a whorehouse is strikes me as patently absurd. There is nothing in the original news article that suggests the person in question is an evangelical. I realize that I posted it, and it does somehow relate to a values issue - therefore Pavlov's little bell has rung and certain puppies were obligated to salivate. How this got to 2257 escapes me, however. My intent was to post what I thought was an amusing article about an extremely niave man. |

1) It's a university. Not a daycare or even a high school.
2) It's a famous production. 3) If the kid doesn't know what a WhoreHouse is he's a geek. 4) Where are this kids parents that the Grandpa has to raise him? 5) Who cares? |
