The decision is a stinging defeat for marijuana advocates who had successfully pushed 10 states to allow the drug's use to treat various illnesses. Justice John Paul Stevens, writing the 6-3 decision, said that Congress could change the law to allow medical use of marijuana. The closely watched case was an appeal by the Bush administration in a case involving two seriously ill California women who use marijuana. At issue was whether the prosecution of pot users under the federal Controlled Substances Act was constitutional. ===================================== Click link for full article. Nothing likie kicking the living shit out of pweople when they are down. What fuckers. At least there are three judges who have a clue. Fucking drug warrior mentality has to be one the the stupidest things I've ever seen a country do. Decaeds of stupidity day after day and people keep getting dumber and dumber thinking stupid shit like this will make a dent in the drug war. Kudos go to Justices O'Connor, Rehnquist, and Thomas for their dissent. |

Yup it is true, I am not smoking weed anymore, ( it fucks up my lungs too much) I have not smoked or possesed weed in six months . I am no longer registered with the state as a medical patient/grower anyway.
I have sold all my web related 420 properties, and in no way shape or form am connected in anyway to anything weed related at all. That dont mean they cant lock me up for still being a stupid newbie though Timon... :) |

There just isn't a strong enough marijuana lobby in this country...
the lobbyists probably head to Washignton, then just kind of stop off to play hackey and listen to some Phish music... |

Anyone even notice who was in the dissent?
Only thing worse then ignorance, is not realizing "what ya know", ain't reality. |

There is nothing particularly revealing about the three who dissented. This court is nowhere near as easy to predict as some people think.
I was at first suprised that Scalia didn't join the dissent, but shouldn't have been. Thomas - whom I think is dead fucking wrong on 80% of his decisions - would disagree with this ruling on principle. I can respect him even if I don't agree with him. Scalia wouldn't know a priniciple if it fell from the sky and hit him in his head. Pot was incidental to the question put before the court, btw. This case could have just as easilly been about guns, environmental law, abortion, or a host of other issues. |
