I am on firefox at the office and IE at home, I cant really tell a big difference, is there any?

TheEnforcer 03-08-2005 07:43 PM

I have Netscape and IE. Never tried Firefox.

Nickatilynx 03-08-2005 07:45 PM

I tried firefox and switched back to ie.

pushpills 03-08-2005 07:53 PM

firefox, ie for some stuff. some plugin doesn't work on firefox and instead of telling me what it is I click the thing and it says....find the unnamed plugin you're missing.

HoneLynn 03-08-2005 08:25 PM

Firefox mostly.

SykkBoy 03-08-2005 09:20 PM

netscape

Peaches 03-08-2005 09:41 PM

Firefox most of the time, IE for a couple of sites and Netscape for a couple more. But I think I have really old versions of NS and IE because sites look really, really bad.

I need to give my laptop to someone who knows what the hell they're doing for a day and get everything fixed right :)

PornoDoggy 03-08-2005 09:43 PM

I've been using Opera for about six months ... love it.

iknowalttl 03-08-2005 09:53 PM

I use IE... I have been wondering if firefox is anything special...

I friend said he liked it but it wasn't convincing enouth for me to go and try it. I only use Netscape when I want to see how something looks with it but not for general use.

Yug 03-08-2005 10:11 PM

IE ... as a designer, I kind of have to view websites through the main browser on the market ...

nickdark 03-09-2005 12:31 AM

Firefox has brilliant add ons usefull for SEO..easy to turn off javascript , linky etc etc..its great when you get used to it..but I still use IE as well.

Hell Puppy 03-09-2005 02:39 AM

I switched to Firefox as my main browser as soon as they released it. Had already given the beta enough trial runs to know it would do the job once they finished polishing it.

If I run across something that Firefox cant handle, I revert to Opera as second choice.

MSIE only if all else fails.

If you cant tell any difference in the way the pages are rendering that means the browser is working correctly.

The reason most people switch to Firefox: it's not Microsoft.

Microsoft is like the Yankees, they're so big, so rich, they can do whatever they want and people hate an arrogant empire while they love an underdog.

The more logical reason: security

Anything CAN be hacked and exploited. However, MSIE has practically become a malware delivery agent that also happens to render web pages occasionally. People snap after de-hooper-izing their machines for the umpteenth time and look for a better way. Right now that better way for a PC user is either Firefox or Opera.

And if I had to call out any one single feature other than security as a reason to use Firefox, it would be tabbed browsing.

sarettah 03-09-2005 07:48 AM

I use Firefox sometimes, IE sometimes.

I look at sites when building in both just to make sure they are working ok.

I'm surprised no one else mentioned this

Cleo 03-09-2005 09:09 AM

I use Safari for most of my surfing but when I'm using a Gecko based browser I prefer Mozilla over Firefox. CCBill's admin only works properly in a Gecko based browser on a Mac.

I do use IE for doing reviews because it is very unforgiving of bad coding and mouseovers.

IE is the only browser that doesn't have tabs and built-in popup blocker. I don't understand why anyone would use a browser without tabs.

Geico is in the browser market now ??? I just love the little gecko dude, ya know

brand0n 03-09-2005 09:42 AM

i dont blame ie for the people who have exploited it

Sharpie 03-09-2005 10:04 AM

I still haven't found enough reasons to change from Netscape...."If its not broke - don't fix it"

I have one site that I go to about once a week, and only works in IE - so, no big deal to load IE for that one.

VooMan 03-09-2005 10:09 AM

I use Firefox 99% of the time now. Tabbed browsing, etc... is so much better than having a ton of windows open.

The only time I use IE at this point is when I have to copy and paste a bunch of tabular data into a spreadsheet. IE copies it and dumps it into excel, but Firefox frigs up the whole works.

chodadog 03-09-2005 10:42 AM

I use firefox for 2 reasons.

1. I love tabbed browsing.
2. Because of it's small browser market share, it's not a target of hackers and very few will try to exploit it, so you're pretty safe when it comes to most exploits that IE has to put up with.

cyberxxx 03-11-2005 07:14 PM

Firefox rulez as well as Thunderbird! Course Firefox still can't show all the CSS shit correctly but I really like it!

Elli 03-11-2005 09:17 PM

I've been using FireFox for umm a year or so now and love it. Love the tabs, etc etc. I still have to use IE with certain sites like MySpace, though. Flash and activescript tend to break in FF.

Yikes, nastiness! Do a spyware scan and patch that puppy up!

Richard N. Bush 03-13-2005 09:58 AM

I use Opera as my primary, Firefox secondary... and load IE only when I have to.

Newton 03-13-2005 12:36 PM

Firefox on 3, IE on one

Elli 03-13-2005 02:57 PM

Has anyone tried Avant yet? I'm giving it a spin on my laptop. Seems to be doing ok so far.

cyberxxx 03-13-2005 06:54 PM

grimm 03-13-2005 10:03 PM

firefox handles java forms terribly, anyone know a workaround?

HpicAnn 03-14-2005 12:17 PM

I use IE...

Gold.E 03-14-2005 03:52 PM

no, it isnt spyware. its just IE is bloated

Trev 03-14-2005 04:39 PM

I use IE here but now that Nutscrape is getting a larger market share I'm checking my sites as certain CSS properties don't seem to work well...

rtv 03-19-2005 07:21 PM

Firefox is much safer than IE. I always use firefox surfing new sites, opera sometimes - it has convinitent "browsing without showing pictures" feature.

Lightning 03-20-2005 03:31 AM

I have both here in the office, but I still prefer IE hands down

Sysprod 03-20-2005 08:47 PM

I've been using Opera for the last couple of years and love it. It has tabbed
browsing and all but I just cant live without the mouse gestures! :)

I only turn on IE or FireFox for testing sites/pages.

jessevalentine 03-20-2005 10:06 PM
