LAS VEGAS, Nevada (AP) -- Sin City's mayor made no apologies Thursday after being criticized for extolling gin to a class of fourth-graders.

Mayor Oscar Goodman said he was just being himself when he told elementary school students that drinking was one of his hobbies and that the one thing he would want if stranded on an island is a bottle of gin.

"I answered the question honestly and truthfully," Goodman told reporters. "I'm not going to lie to children. I'm not going to say I would take a teddy bear or a Bible or something like that."

Asked by a reporter if he had a drinking problem, Goodman answered, "Oh, absolutely not. I love to drink."

:D Nothing wrong with that, at least he was honest, plus it doubles as a great sterilisation liquid ;)

It does make you wonder though, if you had a choice, what you would take with you?

Good for the Mayor of Vegas, what else would you expect for the head of Sin City

As for the quote from Bertrand Russell I try to apply that which makes for some interesting answer to a 3.5 year old who is in the "why" phase (occasionally I'll ask him what he thinks as to why something happens during the series of why's to get his mind started)

Example - I smoke but try not to in front of mind son
When he asked me if I did smoke cigarettes
I thought for a second and told him I did every now and then (about 30 times a day when he's not around)

Didn't bother with the long speech about they are bad for you because I thought that would possibly make them more attractive to him

then that damn seat belt thing ......

I've always thought that if someone actually dropped the what appears to be "R-n thanking , church going , bible thumping" routine and actually acted like they had had a life , they might be elected.

I mean , how would it effect GW popularity if he came out and said:

""Man I use to snort lines that would choke a horse! Thought about doing a couple to keep me up and slightly paranoid when we invaded Iraq , but Rumsfield's contact was on holiday , and Cheney wouldn't hook me up cause he was still cunty as a bitch over me taunting his nibbler of a daughter.""

Defeated politicians when they drop the "trying to get votes routine" seem in a way more electable.
