Effective immediatly if your running a button or banner in your signature you need to adhere to one of these policies.

1. Be a current advertising sponsor
2. Have a recipricol banner on the site your are advertising of same size or higher.
- We will be checking so make it easy to find.... like on the front page.
- In your webmasters area will also be good if it is linked from your front page.
- We dont care if its a free site, surfer site or webmaster site add our banner.
3. Text links are fine as long as they arent in huge type.

We think this is only fair for you to promote Oprano since you are using Oprano to promote yourself.

Questions?

Its fairly simple ... why should someone get a sig spot if they can't even include a link in return on the site they are using this board to promote? Oprano has always thrived on the 'contribute to the gumbo and we'll serve you up a plate'

I personally include the occasional site that can't have a return link to an adult webmaster resource, but anything that is even remotely related to adult webmasters has an oprano and netpond button on it. I can very easily not do that though if the rules are against it!

Since the rule has relaxed a little, the sigs have gotten bigger and bigger and its annoying to try to read the posts amongst the ads ... not to mention the advertisers banners being devalued ...

And its not like a text only signature is a bad thing - a well written text sig performs much better than a button or banner :awinky:

I think we will get more traffic from one decent webmaster thats volentarily flys "A prod member of the Oprano Family" type button that I was looking for somewhere visible on one of his sites , than we will get from 100 little affiliate programs that puts it in with there other 22 buttons opn there resource page.

For what it's worth ...

I agree no one should have a sig unless they link back. As for the "front page" part, that's a nice dream, but often ridiculous. As long as you are linked the same place others are linked, IMHO, that's what counts. Front page is nice. (Hell, Oprano is on the front page of AllOfEm.) But that IS going overboard. Asking for A link that is at least equal to others is totally reasonable.

Also, for what it's worth, AllOfEm likewise does NOT publish any press releases or news sent to us unless we are *somewhere* linked. Having a resource I can certainly agree that people who do not link back ARE leeches, that's why we have a polic: take traffic, but don't give it, then screw you. So yes, I do understand, and I do agree that link-backs should be required.

1 backward link as opposed to 100 will get you more traffic?

mmmmkay!

um..does Oprano have some sort of "special" process that pulls the signature up to the server before dropping it down to the browser or something ?

Questions?

I'm fine with 2 ... ive already had a banner back to oprano on my first page of YugSTAR.com ever since i put it up online.

My question is, in my sig, i have a small banner (i remember initially i had a HUGE one, cj told me to shrink it down), and a few links to sites which are relevant to me.

I don't think on a board like this there should be any need for anyone to have ridiculous sized banners. We aren't sig whores. Every one of my links in my sig is relevant and important, and if someone wishes to see what sites or projects i am affiliated with, they are there to click on.

How many links are we aloud in our sigs?
And if the answer is many, does each link we have in our sig NEED to have a link back, or can it be just one of them?
What is the maximum dimensions and file size for a banner?
Define current advertising sponsor, because I have contributed to the new sexines ezine coming out this week, does that count?

Don't get the impression i am against the rules, i just think they should be more clearly defined, and perhaps explained better to new people when they sign up, as i know i personally didn't see any definitions about rules in regards to sigs.

Personally, I put a link to oprano on every webmaster related project i work on. I like this community more than any other, even though i hardly know most of you here.
