Its been about 2 months, and look at this place!!
I can't keep up with the threads anymore ... And not only are there lots of threads, there's hardly any bullshit crap waste of time shit like the other active boards (except netpond) - almost every thread on here at the moment is not only business related, but thought provoking and inspirational. Oprano is now the perfect place IMO - the core family element that Serge and Mike built over the years is thriving, old timers who have shared history, and the new blood Nick and Gonzo are bringing in is providing a perfect extension of the family with fresh new ideas. Much impressed Nick & Gonzo - I think you did it ;-) :wnw: ok, I need to say something really bitchy ASAP or I'm going to make myself puke :biglaugh: |
Quote:
You are part of the new blood too!!! A board is a community and all the sponsors ,mods and members have made it grow. And we are all agreed ... We aren't done yet :) |
:okthumb:
|
It's certainly a different atmosphere here.
Hasn't stopped me from posting as regular as I always did. Good job everyone. :okthumb: |
If CJ ever learns to make red eyed gravy, our mission will be complete.

CJ, if you suck dick the way you post threads will you marry me?
No offence, but in observance of the intuitively obvious i had to ask. Luv ya honey! :D (I disconnected my cell, don't even try....) hehehe |

Something about making gravy while stoned from Oompa Lumpa's?!?!?! wtf are whomp ums?! and what is red eyed gravy?! I really need a FFN dictionary :biglaugh:
Red Eyed Gravy is a southern delicacy... Ya see, in the south eastern united states, the cooking traditions date all the way back to the plantation days. First rule is you can fry anything. Doesn't matter what it is, if you'll roll it in cornmeal and/or flour and fry it in grease, it'll taste better. Second rule, is pork products should be part of every meal if not every dish. Take something healthy like beans for instance, doesn't matter what kinda bean it is, if you'll throw a piece of pig meat in while they're cooking it'll taste better. Grease is good, it keeps the body lubricated. With that in mind, Red Eyed Gravy is typically served at breakfast. You start by frying up some pig meat....sausage, ham, bacon, or better still, all of the above. But dont waste the grease that is left over in the pan! No way! Instead, you pour a little black coffee in with the grease and mix it up. THAT is red eyed gravy. You then split your biscuits open and pour the gravy over it and eat 'em! If there's any left in the plate, you sop it up with another biscuit. If you're feeling particularly froggy, you might also throw a dash of yellow mustard in the gravy and stir it up til it mostly dissolves. Now if you're feeding a whole table full of FFNs, you're going to need more quantity. At that point, milk gravy works better. Again start with your grease, a half cup is about perfect...leave the chunks in. Add 1.5 cups flour, 8oz of evaporated milk, a cup of water, salt and pepper to taste. Mix it all up. Again, pour on biscuits. Now as for biscuits themselves, these days you'll find 3 types: 1) Home made -- by far the best, true southern tradition has the dough mashed out into the shape of a biscuit by hand. Biscuit cutters and molds are for yankees (we'll explain the yankee problem to you some other time this is already getting long). 2) Whomp-um Biscuits -- you find these at the grocery store in the frozen foods section, they come in a tube. You whomp the tube on the counter to bust it open, then put the psuedo biscuit like things inside onto a baking sheet and into the oven. Thus "whomp um" biscuits. 3) Bag o biscuits -- These aren't bad, again they come in the frozen food section. They come in a bag, you can just reach in, get however many you need and put 'em on a sheet and cook 'em up. Unlike the whomp 'um biscuit which typically requires at least a 5 biscuit commitment. Bag o biscuits are popular with southern bachelors as they dont like big commitments. |

cj,
your words make my heart warm and fuzzy....Michael and me are very happy that the building we set the foundation of, is standing strong on it's feet, and Gonzo and Nick are continue building and expanding this building with street smarts, enthusiasm and attention it deserves. You all know me, I NEVER give compliments, I either speak my mind or not (on the VERY rare ocassions) Excelelnt progress, excellent community, excellent leadership. |
OK, I'm going to marry HP - he knows how to cook southern better than my mother! :rokk:

Saute the shrimp in a little olive oil and butter with some cajun seasonings, salt, pepper and half an onion chopped up fine. Then proceed to make the gravy as you mentioned here. Good shit... Sounds like something that wouldn't be very good at breakfast time I agree. I felt that way once too... |
Man HellPuppy, I gotta hand it to you. You sure know your southern cooking.
When is "invite a yankee to dinner" night? B) |
I was about to agree with CJ saying how well things have been going, until I saw Cleo post.
If Cleo likes it, something MUST be wrong. Gonzo, you seducing trannies again? :D  Seriously, nothing will make me happier then see Oprano surpass its previous glory. It's still our baby in a way. |
Quote:
As for the trannies... Im letting Grogan and Ryan fight it out for that turf. I know no 2 better guys that are qualified than them. |
I asked a friend which board they found to be the most productive, not the normal bullshit waste of time that most are now and they sent me here! Good stuff guys! :purpdance:
|
HP, I had to read that twice!!!! That sounds disgusting!!!!!! LMAO
If the FFN's ever make it down under, i don't know how we are going to feed you  |

I did try some kangaroo dish last time I was down under. I reckoned how it would've tasted better had it been battered and fried. And everything tastes better if you put it inside a biscuit. |
Im still searching for the most profitable program hahaha.

:okthumb: is in order to all
From the Originators to the Founding Fathers to the new owners to all the new blood Hell I weakly pissed in the Content section on purpose (hope at least some of you knew that) so I can get quality stuff there and guess what. It's working. Take a look for yourself, not a bunch of discount bullshit (like some one tried to post) but where to find quality Yes I am motivated by self interested HP knows food but then so does CJ. I'm the guy who looks for EXTRA FAT when shopping. Lite or reduced fat is blasphemy So feed my skinny ass damn it and stop talking about it. I am available for travel Funny thing, from back in the day 2 posters who could stand up to my pissing are productive family members One is even the Sargent at arms and the other is ..... .... our dysfunctional child Steve Now I don't have time to piss on all newcomers (not sure if the new owners would welcome it anyway) Now you all can go jump in a lake before you think I'm anything less than a curmudgeonly old bastard! |

btw - i really enjoy to be a part of the family. :) |
I am quite impressed and happy with the many changes and improvements in just the last 30 days.

It is evolving at an exponential rate and a most delightful sight to behold.

Its amazing how different cultures build up a tolerance to & taste for certain foods ... I love experiencing food from every culture but the tummy doesn't always agree. I'd love to have a restaurant that had a classic dish from every culture on its menu - biscuits and gravy, kangaroo, a laksa, bolognaise, baklava etc and use traditional recipes from each origin. I think a webmasters ebook/cookbook is in order some day ... your biscuit recipes, mike/billy's cajun crawfish, serge makes this incredible eggplant dip, Sykk's pink peppercorn icecream .... plus several others. I'm not opposed to fat - fat doesn't create fat so I've never had an issue leaving the big hunk of fat on the side of a pork chop or eating the crackling, but I find lately it doesn't sit well so I only eat half the fat off the chop LMAO Not sure how kangaroo fillet would go battered and fried because the meat would toughen and it would be like eating a boot - but you could do it as a mince and wrap it in pastry like a samosis (deep fried) or sausage roll (baked) ... http://www.vikingrange.com/recipes/r...roll_large.jpg http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/r_0000001685.asp But a sausage roll has to be served with tomato sauce - or as the yanks call it, ketchup :agrin: |

its not my company i never started working here obviously your mouth works better than your eyes because I've hardly posted here in 3 months ......... I'm just a member of a community who tries to give as much as I take. so feel free to let your head explode ... |
cj, don't mind Guile.
He hasn't brought a SINGLE constructive idea in his entire board life. He thinks poking at others makes him look smart. Let him poke....broom up his own ass. ;) |
