Nevada Governor Wants To Put More Money In Your Pocket By Kori Chambers KVBC-TVUSA - If Nevada Governor Kenny Guinn gets his way, the check will soon be in the mail. He hasn't revealed all the details of his budget, but he wants 300 millions dollars to go back into your pocket. News 3's Kori Chambers tells us how the governor wants to see it distributed. The governor says he's been thinking for six months now, trying to figure out the best and the most fair way to give taxpayers back their money. He thinks he finally has the solution. "It is a check that's going to the taxpayers."Giant checks are usually reserved for Ed McMahon and game show hosts, but Governor Guinn says Nevada's taxpayers could be the big winners."I'm very excited and I'm thankful for this giant windfall that we're getting." If the governor has his way, 300 million dollars of surplus revenue will go back where it came from in the form of big rebates for money you paid at the DMV to register your car in 2004."Money back is always a nice things to have.Money in the pocket, especially for me, a struggling school student going to college." "Rebate?Anything given back is good, especially when you're a senior citizen." Car, truck, motorcycle or trailer, it doesn't matter. You could get up to 300 dollars back in registration fees you paid for each one."I made three trips to the DMV for the car I'm driving, just to figure out the right key to go in it." For Pat Cassedy, that could mean as many 14 different checks in the mail."I don't think that will ever happen.Once they get a hold of our money, they keep it.Maybe I'm wrong, maybe it will. We'll see.Time will tell.I could use the money." However, some say they'd gladly go without if they knew it was going to help those who could use it more."Yes, I would give it up to do something good for the community. The community should come first." That potential rebate is really dependent on what happens in this year's legislature, but the governor is very optimistic. He has already set aside money for the rest of the budget, includinganother 150 million dollars for our rainy day fund. The governor says he'll give many details about the overall budgetin his State of the State Address, January 24th. |
It's ok Kenny, you'll get re-elected easily enough...no need to blow smoke up our asses...
hey, how about taking that $300 million and fixing the clusterfuck that is the DMV? How about reducing fucking license fees? Maybe we can use it to add a couple more teachers to the payroll? bah, just give it to Oscar Goodman so he can bring in a baseball team... sorry, did I type that out loud? |

actually, Guinn has been pretty consistant on that issue...but yeah, use the money to "urge" a few key congressmen to dump the nuke waste in Florida or South Carolina.... |
