do you see it as a permanant mainstay now to any successful program? or do you think it is just a fad, and only a few of the sstronger sites will remain good and there will be another " NEW THING" ?
|
I think the reality "craze" is over and has been for a long time in my opinion. In my experience, they perform as well as other types of sites. They won't die off, though. There's always going to be a market for them.
|
Considering we are launching 2 new reality sites... I hope for a long time!
|
I think it's still strong but with so many reality sites you have to have something fresh and credible to be heard above all the noise
|
Reality sites are here to stay, but I think once a new fad or trend develops they will cool a bit... :D
|
The word "reality" pretty much is meaningless at this point. I know, I shoot content for a lot of these so-called reality porn sites for a few different programs. The idea of a themed site with a particular funny, goofy or sexy premise containing mostly custom exclusive video is a very basic idea that will surely continue.
|
Reality shows have always been with us. It's only recently that mainstream media has given that niche "reality".
The Newlywed game was a reality game-show. Truth or Consequences was as well. Anyone remember "This is your Life"? Reality shows will only get bigger and hopefully better. |

Hopefully we'll see some real ground-breaking sites in 2005 - can't wait to see what the industry comes up with next! :yowsa: |
The crazy thing about 'reality' sites is that that term has become the new buzz word for a sponsor to say..
'We have just launched 20 new reality sites' Instead of saying.. 'We have just launched 20 new cookie cutter sites' Which, lets be honest, is all reality sites are.. the new cookie cutter. |
From my viewpoint "reality sites" are real strong. We have been designing tons and tons of them :)

[/b][/quote] Agreed and the newest cycle is even beginning to get worn out, those sites that use low quality screengrabs from DVDs. It seems more and more sponsors are building those types of sites now too, promising thousands of downloadable movies inside when all the sites contain are the same 4 or 5 movies that have been used on the tour with a bunch of the same 8 year old generic plug ins that all use the same movie titles. Actually, that plug in comment just reminded me, a few months ago i went through every plug in i could find and 90% of them were in fact using the same movie titles as each other just arranged differently in the feeds LOL Hairassment, At Your Service, Island Fever, Gay Pride #1 - #59, Uncut fever etc etc. Thats just on the gay side im sure its the same on the straight side of things too. |

------------- this industry never really changes someone comes out witha shiny new thing and everyone else follows suit... reality sites are definitely becoming cookie cutter...and creativity is starting to falter again....typical cycle... Yeppers Sykk, that is the cycle. I mean we went from like 800x600 splash page on the old paysite design model, to longer pages, 2 tours, 3 tours, some 4-5 tours, etc. Things will change again I am sure of it. |

Send them out a dvd included in there membership , get a signature... down go chargebacks.. |
There is a difference between sites that have truly exclusive video content shot specifically for the site with some premise or theme or gag or hook and those sites that are just a bunch of DVD rips that are emulating that design style. The latter may fool some surfers, but even with some confusion, custom exclusive video content shot in a creative way is here to stay. It's not going to go away any more than porn series on VHS or DVD with all kinds of different themes are. Any program owners or managers looking to differentiate themselves in the marketplace, and pull in some new webmaster affiliates as well as generate jaded surfers interest, would be wise to invest in some custom shot exclusive video content, if they have the program to push it. I'm available for creative consultation. :-)

How do you guys feel about selling your members, DVD's of your content, in your members area, that you actually mail out to them?

Shows that the company is thinking about long term profitability and not just about throwing shit online and wanting to wait to make money from it from web usage. In todays marketplace you have to be able to embrace a whole range of business models including offline content sales in bricks and mortar stores and even streaming ppv usage of movies. If a company doesnt maximise its profit potential, it wont be around for long ultimately. |
Joe, Nick, Lee,
Well we ship out dvd's and other items for a ton of companies. Topbucks for one does real well with there dvd upsells, and I think we have like 10 or 20,000 of there dvd's here in our warehouse. As Lee said, more ways to maximize your profit is a good thing :) |

We have to chat in Vegas about some business :) |

Lee,
Yeppers there :) We have been shipping for ourselves and other companies for many years now :) Between all the companies we ship quite a few hundred packages per day. You know me, love to diversify :) |

What does that ring up to cost wise? Right now we have a company that is charging us $1.75 per DVD (including sleeves and case printing) for a minimum order of 2000 units. Selling them to our distributor for $10-$15 per DVD. If we can cut that cost down significantly then you may have a new client :groucho: |
Our busty babes appear on a series of DVD's we're producing. We look for it to add nicely to our bottomline.

I then send the finished DVD masters to a replicator- the going price for quality U.S. replication & shrink-wrapping, incl. a design on the face of the DVD nowadays is a bit more than $1.00 to $1.25 or so, not including the sleeves which we design in Photoshop and pay a few hundred bucks or so to print and supply to the replicator. I believe at least one of the replicators I have used has a 1000 piece minimum rather than a 2000 piece minimum. if I can be of any more help you can e-mail me thru my site. |
