An even longer term than Kronkite. Rather has had an impressive career.
I wonder if it will be JD Roberts replacing him as speculation is indicating. |
Rather and Cronkite are idiots.
The only reason Cronkite made it so long was the lack of choice American's had before cable. Same as Phil Donahue - who was on TV even longer, was praised as a genuis as elected to TV hall of fame - yet when he came out to open market with a new show on MSNBC is BOMBED - it did so poorly it did not even register with the Neilsons. Bottom line, liberal new anchors no longer have the monopoly of major networks on broadcast TV to protect their ratings! Thank GOD! I actually went out of my way to help Cronkite a few years ago, at G. Bush Int'l Airport. I got him into the President's club - his assistent did not have his credit card to get him in - so I got him in as a guest on mine. I found it funny the lady working at the desk did not even recognize him. Like thecommercial says " Don't leave home without it!" Of course, after his recent ramblings I have concluded Cronkite is a tool, and probably going senile - I beleive he blamed Rove for manufacuturing the forged documents as a dirty trick, and I think also accused Bush admin of possibly holding Bin Laden for an October Surprise. |

I think some far right Republican groups put pressure on Rather to go back on some of his pre-election on-air statements. There are conspiracies everywhere. I mean hell Mike, if you can be the way you are, imagine how many people are farther right than you? I'm only partly kidding. :awinky: |

The bottom line is this: if you are a top flight journalist - you cannot slam the President of the US with forged documents. ( obvious forge documents are even worse) This applies to any President and any Journalist. Dan Rather gambled, and he crapped out. Bye Bye Dan! |

Oh well, at least there are still enough Red Staters out there who can think. |
I liked Rather when he was younger and reporting from war zones.. I always thought he came across well. The older he got the more sensitive he seemed to get. Something about an anchor man crying on camera that just doesn't appeal to me. Not once.. but several times.
I'm not heartless.. I just think if your THE anchor of a major broadcasting company you shouldn't allow yourself that privelage on camera. http://www.oldmencrying.com |
