Hey that's cool. I remember reading those books when I was a kid.

I thought Gene Wilder was very good in the 1971 version of the movie.

Yeah, he was awesome. I like the guy who played Charlie's teacher.

Here's a pic from the set of Johnny as Willy.

I don't know about you Colin, but when I was in grade 4 (1974), these books were huge with us kids. Charle and the Chocolate Factory, and then Charle and the Great Glass Elevator were must owns.

My son is going to love this movie! :yowsa:

It was my favorite movie when I was that age. I didn't read the book.

These books were required reading in our house... we got the kids the whole Roald Dahl collection for Christmas a few years ago.

Just looking @ the poster... A TIM BURTON FILM?!?!? Wow - I can't wait to see the dark twist that Burton puts on this tale. I can't WAIT!

scary, yet almost fitting, that at one time Marilyn Manson was in the running to play Wonka....

Rather than being a remake of the 1971 Gene Wilder film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Burton's movie will reportedly be a more faithful adaptation of Dahl's novel.

Danny Elfman is doing the Oompa Loompa voices. He sang Jack Skellington's parts in the "The Nightmare Before Christmas". :okthumb:

Very much so, since the original movie was 'willy wonka and the chocolate factory' ... whereas this one is 'charlie and the chocolate factory'

Subtle difference, but alot behind it, as the movie took alot of liberties ... the original book was actually VERY dark and twisted, as most Roald Dahl books are actually.

I love Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, and I can't see how this movie would be dissapointing at all ...

Then again, the other 'remake' Burton did was Planet of the Apes ... not exactly a pinical of movie making.

Shhhh... let's forget about that planet of monkeys... just about everything else Burton has touched has turned to gold...

I think we have every movie (except for the monkeys) on DVD - I have high hopes for this new film... we'll be there on opening day!
