People generally have the political opinion, which they can afford?

Maybe I am the exception. My family used to tell me with wealth ,education, and priviledge comes responsibility . Of course normally I was too drunk , high , or horny to pay attention. ;-)) I now understand their point. Perhaps George Bush should be reminded that in any civilised society the stronger should feel a moral (spit) responsibility to the weak. (note: in business the above views of Nickatilynx do not apply. ) ;-)) |

Or I pass on being a member of civilized society Let's go dancing on the back of the bruised |
My theory of WHY is because:
1) the drop outs are the major benefits of social programs and hand outs 2) post grads are smart enough to understand that those social programs and handouts are nothing else but SAFETY valves, designed to prevent social uphevals a-la Russia in 1917. Poor people in mass with weapons are not a pretty picture for society. (Anybody who lived thru LA riots would agree, even though it was on a lighter scale - no weapons) |

Buff, wrong. Academia KNOWS from history that Marx's theories don't work. On the other hand "some college" don't put one and one together that if you don't built in a safety valve- the mechanism is gonna blow. |

[/b][/quote] Well there are an overwhelming majority of self-identified marxists in US universities. I wish more of them knew Marx was wrong, but I think you'd be surprised. Remember, you studied a real subject in college -- physics or engineering or what was it? Here in the states, there are a superabundance of sociology classes and philosophy classes, and literature classes, and feminist studies and gay studies and minority studies and what have you that are almost without exception taught by Marxists. |
I suspect alot of the european socialist parties in the 1980-90s thought that by letting in massive numbers of 3rd world immigrants and refugees, they would be able to build a new "working class" to secure that socialist parties still would have dominant power. However the rise in wealth have made the middle class the biggest and most powerful group today, and they tend to seek compromise instead of hardcore ideologies - unless thoses hardcore ideologies threaten the status quo in their lifes, which explains why the majority of middle class candian and europeans "hate" Bush, and why the majority of middle class USA "accepts" Bush, because terrorists threaten the status quo/harmony in the US.
