I love reading the cries of the blue state people.
Serge his arguements sound a lot like yours http://slate.msn.com/id/2109218/ Too bad the US is a red state Nation. Here is the map. http://www.usatoday.com/news/politicselect...4/countymap.htm |

its portrays a falls sense of reality, in that all those red squares were maybe a 1-3% differential in votes between bush and kerry. our country is extraordinarily split, between the intelligent and the ignorant (see article posted above). ;-))))))))))) |

Look at Bush's numbers. They are superior to JFK, Clinton, etc... Bush is the first incumbent to GAIN in off year congressional elections. What was last President running for re-election to gain seats in Senate & House? It was FDR.... A national Icon! |

Only if you can make a comparison of World War 2 and how that was handled to the "War on Terrorism" aka "Iraq." |

it's official:
GWB = FDR and my shit doesn't smell. Anybody who thinks otherwise, request a sample. |

that was the favorite way of comparissions Communists in USSR used, they compared any numbers of Soviet Economy to... Tsar's numbers of 1913 and oh yeah, Commies look GOOD! ;-)))) |

Bush is no FDR, but his election victory has some similarities.
Bush only knows how to govern one way. He has won 2 elections as gov, and 2 as President. He will lead the way he always has. Of course with Dashel being voted out of office, and gaining 4 seats in Senate, and a bunch in house its going to be much easier. Argue all you want, just giving the facts. You may not like how Bush governs, but there will be 4 more years of it. There is a good chance Bush will also appoint 2-3 Supreme Court justices. Bush is a visionary - even if you do not agree with is vision, he still has it, and and will move forward with implementing his vision. Hopefully it will include flat/consumption tax, social security privatization and other difficult issues most politicans run away from. |

Stalin hitler musselini.... Osama arafat all visionaries!!! I'm a fucking visionary for fuck sakes! ;-)) Being a visionary is not necessarily a good thing... being a religious fundamentalist is certainly NOT a good thing. I mean if I tell people that the devil talks to me and tells me to behave and live in a certain way , I'll be locked away by the men in white coats. however... If I say Jesus talks to me , I can be elected President of the United States of America. ....hmmmm unles the devil now pretends to be Jesus. That might make sense!! ;-))) |
Nick,
you ARE a Visionary, funny, smart and a good egg! ;-)))) |
I do not like bush being elected, but I think that te prudent thing to do now is to try to unite behind the elected leader, and accomplish something.
|
The good news is.... after this term, his ass is out for good.
|
The map is interesting....notice most of the 'blue states' are in metropolitan areas? Gotta makes ya think about them rednecks, huh? :P

those rednecks are the most advanced citizens of our country, they been using "3G" principle loooong before it was widely available http://www.fcc.gov/3G/ ...but being rednecks, they thought it was: God Guns Gays ;-))) |

there is only one thing uglier than southern cretin- it's a the GLOATING southern cretin. |

You, a law school graduate can not possible believe that giving an overwhelming majority to conservative beliefs on the supreme court can ever possibly be a good thing. Without balance 50% of the countries core beliefs are made meiningless. I would feel just as nervous if there was a looming possiblility of the court swinging too far the other way. Have less checks and balances in our system of government is NEVER a good thing. |
51-49.
You can twist it and turn it and flip it and stretch it and you can fuckin' sit on it while you spin it. It's still goddamned close. If Bush, Frist and Delay take the same sort of shallow-minded, self serving interpretation of this "mandate" that some Oprano posters are exhibiting, that 51-49 is going to read very differently in 2006 and 2008. |
Supreme Court? 55 Republican Senators? Welcome to the filibuster. Once again, division of powers and balancing mechanisms inherent in the Constitution will keep the country in the middle.

I haven't voted for a Republican President since 1988 when I voted Bush. I voted Libertarian in 92, 96, and 2000, and I didn't vote for a President this year, regardless of what you think. |
Old Jeff, I did graduate law school and I have seen the damage that liberal activist judges bring to this country. The reality is what liberals cannot get past in legislastion, they turn it over the activist judges.
Republicans will keep winning elections until Democrates figure out you cannot insult the average American. You cannot force gay marriage down their throats, work to take "God" out of the pledge, put Michael Moore in the VP Suite during convention, etc.... IF Democrats want to win National office they are going to have to move back to the center - instead of the fringes.... at least for now, this country is still pretty Conservative. |
Quote:
c'mon! as for winning elections... as baby boomers grow old and retire, and as ALWAYS in USA, WALLET is what votes, Dems has to do NOTHING, as population will just turn old and go along, as recent stats showed. fuckin' shit, I feel as I am in the WORST position of them all, being MODERATE conservative at the CENTER, I am constantly attacked by MikeAI's from the right and Alexes from the left ;-)))) |
LOL Serge...I feel the same way....although I'm more a center liberal....I fell differently than MikeAI....I think the Conservatives are as much on the 'fringe' of the right as he claims the Liberals are on the left.....just my personal opinion, though....and I'm Canadian....so that don't mean much. ;)

Since we didn't have an electrol college crisis this year, I don't suppose it will be discussed officially for awhile. It should be.... Winner take all is stupid & unfair........ Just that sinple! That is like all the house of reps, being decided on by the govenor (and all the same party)
I felt Bush had an ego problem last time around when he didn't even win the popular vote (you would never have known it) he thinks he has (and has publicaly said) that now he has a mandate for his programs. He thinks the country has condoned all his policies. Far from it - he didn't win by what I would call a landside. He has a very divided country & I don't think he could care less - he won & that is all that counts. I don't think there is a prayer that he will unite the country in any way, because he thinks every policy he is is right. After all - he has God on his side! I don't see him comprising. I think he has a very dangerous pompous attitude for our times. Time will tell............ I am willing to give him a chance, but I am very skeptical that he won't be treading on my rights. |

BUT, just to add to that....many of the books were put in the 'recycle bin' when KJ comprised his version.... and, did you know some say he was gay? :awinky: |
Gigi,
Reckon they were translated by 'looking into a hat' as well? |
HAHA, I have no doubt, Mark ;)
And btw....someone pointed me to these two maps that reflect a more realistic view of the breakdown of votes.... By Population: http://www.electoral-vote.com/carto/nov04c.html (states are skewed to represent pop) By County, but using different shades of purple based on percentages: http://www.princeton.edu/~rvdb/JAVA/election2004/ So, as you see, the USA isn't a red state....but more a deep shade of magenta. ;) |
