America Online sends people to...Unemployment lines
;-(((

Yeah! And meanwhile have you seen those new commercials of theirs?! Probably difficult not to, they're everywhere.

I just love how they are trying to pass themselves off as the entire Net. "Tell us your problem and we will fix the Net for you."

LMAO! Maybe they should start at home first and get a grip on reality while they're at it!

Those commercials crack me up. Like AOL IS the internet.

For a lot of people, AOL *IS* the Internet ...
Their marketing is working, because they are making a pretense of listening to their customers & creating almost a new internet that's self contained ...

Why would any average joe want to surf the net which is full of popups, shit that installs itself, content is difficult to find unless you know how to look etc ... AOL has positioned themselves as a 'safe gateway to the internet'.

Smart.

The real internet isa dangerous place, between pop-ups, spyware, scumware, viruses, spam and everything else AOL is smart to take advantage of the closed system.

Actually...

AOL had the BEST marketing years ago.

They got you in the habit of clicking yes , as you joined up and then threw in things like "You want newsweek delievered to yr house for only 18.95"

Very clever.

Of course IF I did that I'd be sued.

;-)))

Dravyk 11-02-2004 09:17 PM

Yep ... if any of us pulled the crap the big guys have ... Reader's Digest (seriously), AT&T, AOL ... we'd be behind bars.
