This debate is so much better than the last one. Both men seem much more prepared and much more competent than the other guy on their ticket. As of right now, even though I disagree with him, I'm giving a solid edge to Edwards. He's handling his time better and he's getting all his points in. Cheney seems like he's uncertain what points to make and it seems to me he's on the defense.
I'm surprised Kerry won the nomination over Edwards -- He's 1000 times more charismatic than Kerry -- and a lot smarter to boot. They should have Edwards in the spotlight. |
Cheney just punched Edwards in the stomach twice. It's close....

Cheney is getting worked a bit if you ask me man.

Both seem emminently qualified to maintain the constitutionally mandated bucked of warm spit.

Excellent debate. An even match in my view. I think this was a slight advantage for the Kerry campaign because people will see that Edwards seems quite capable.

Edwards started out strong, but Chaney came back and did a good job overall
one thing that ticked me off was when Chaney said suicide bombings are down in Israel because Saddan is out of power.. WTF ?? I'm surprise Chaney did not attack Edward's involvement in the melpractice cases... by saying he's not aware of his cases. |
ABC poll of 500. Cheney by 8% +/- 4.5%.
|
I agree with you Buff. Cheney gives me confidence in this gov't, I think he is a very competant person.
I think he won debate, had grasp of facts and details. Edwards and Kerry have a "plan" for everything, he used that word a dozen times, but never gives details. Edwards is a likable guy - lots of charisma - He will be a rising star for the Dems, even when they lose. I would rather him then Hillary any day. As bad as Presidential debate was, was how good this was. |
One other things - the debate conductor - Not sure what her name was, but I like her. She was tough, asked tough question, was fair, and on the ball.
What news service/network does she work for? She made Lehrer seem like a talking stiff. |

This actually is a logical arguement. Saddam paying families of bombers $25k is a powerful motivator for poor families. Saddam is gone, so he is not picking up tab. Thus there is no direct financial benefits for families of homicide bombers. The real reason is Israeli security and military.... but its a logical arguement. |
Flipping channels. Cheney is getting better post debate coverage than Edwards overall.

But the real reason suicice bombings are down is bcuz of the fence Israel has built making it harder for suicide bombers to infiltrate. |

FWIW, Lehrer's job was much more scripted than the open forum Ifill got to work with... The St. Louis one should be interesting.
|
I give the nod to Edwards as I think he was much more steady and on point. Cheney had some good lines but overall I think Edwards was more effective.

Well ive only just now finished watching the debates (re-run) and i gotta say, Cheney seemed to have won this round.
He certainly did have to hand the right facts and figures. However, the one thing that did stand out to me against Cheney was his body language, most of the time, when he answered a question, his hands went close to, or over his mouth... kinda made me wonder just how truthfull in his answers he was being. Other than that i gotta say Cheney won hands down will be interesting to see how Bush fairs in his next ass whopping :) |
I had missed some of the debate last night. Just watched the portion I had missed. That "Howard Dean" line was tough. I think Cheney was by far the best prepared of the four in debate and Bush the worst. Edwards was very good though and smooth. He's personable in a way that Kerry isn't.

Edwards directly raised Halliburton 5 times.... Even when given a chance, Cheney backed away from slamming Edwards personally. He is a sterotypical amubulance chaser - a very succcessful one. |

Apparenly not everyone at PBS is a flaming liberal.... or at least some people are good at hidinng their personal preferances and act professionally. She is certainly no Dan Rather! :o |
I did not watch the debate (I had something much better to do, playing badminton), but looking around this morning, I am seeing this:
- Both men better prepared. Less hemming and hawing, and more actual discourse. - Cheney revealed himself as the brains behind much of what goes on in the whitehouse. - Edwards is an outstanding candidate based on speaking and presentation. - The moderator missed some really good questions. A CBS poll of undecided voters gave the edge to Edwards, the more repulibcan leaning ABS poll gives it to Cheney. Call it a tie, which means in reality that each man did a good job of neutraizing the other. Alex |

[/b][/quote] There is no good answer for cheney about haliburton. Edwards was a lawyer. lawyers are lawyers. someone going to make a case for a pristine lawyer? but he did not directy benefit off of government military action or 20 years, using the US armed forces to reinforce his piggy bank. |

I think it represents the middle class. to write off PBS is to write off both candidates bread and butter. |
