He did exactly what he needed to do and he did it well. He created something that people wanted to buy... he sold it locally and then exported it world wide in bulk. 1,500,000,000 people have bought it today and probably 10-20 Billion since day 1. thats not bad!

Guinness Book of World Records says 2.5 billion copies of the Bible have been distributed since 1815 with 54 million copies last year... do not have any numbers on how many Qurans was printed last year, but I´m guessing its close to the number of Bibles or less...

However the "Ikea 2004 Catalogue" was printed and distributed in 130 million copies this year... making it the most widely distributed book in 2004.

i am willing to be that people will more readily buy "hope" and i doubt the trend will slow anytime soon.

While religion gives monotone hope, then consumption comes in never ending variety... where the IKEA catalogue have problems replacing the Bible, then other shapes of consumption are taking over - ex. porn is already available as in-room movies in around 40 percent of all hotel rooms in the United States... so instead of opening the dresser drawer, then people are finding the remote on top of the dresser drawer :awinky:

Religion is loosing ground, the only place it can find dominans is in its fundamentalistic shape, which "unfortunal" for some religions also includes confrontation with the rest of the world.
