this is aCrater Lake in Oregon,
the deepest lake in USA,
inside the crater of the volcano which erupted 8000 years ago, blowing entire mountain off,
with the powers 150 times bigger than Mountain Helen explosion,
throwing ashes over 8 states and few canadien provinces

what you see in the first pic is a volcano inside the lake which is inside of a crater!

That is awesome!!!

Yug 08-10-2004 12:26 AM

Thats truly awesome ... and not in the 'this hotdog tastes awesome' kinda way, but in the old fashioned dictionary definition 'inspiring awe or admiration or wonder'.

:zoinks:

pushpills 08-10-2004 12:31 AM

Very nice. :)

Let us know when you've got more pics ready.

Winetalk.com 08-10-2004 12:34 AM

i thought Lake Tahoe was the deepest lake
so deep they cant find the bottom

SykkBoy 08-10-2004 02:49 AM

I get mocked for being a "tree hugger" but scenes like that and the nature I grew up with in Wyoming (beauty that you could never do justice with a picture) just make me feel mother nature's magic.

just listening is good enough

Crater Lake National Park: At 1,932 feet deep, Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the United States, and its sapphire-blue waters are a bewitchingly beautiful sight when seen from the rim of the volcanic crater that forms the lake.
next year we'll go to the Hell Canyon in Oregon which is deeper than Grand Canyon
;-)))

Quote:

Hells Canyon: Deeper than the Grand Canyon, this massive gorge along the Oregon-Idaho border is remote and inaccessible, and that is just what makes it fascinating. You can gaze down into it from on high, float its waters, or hike its trails.

SykkBoy 08-10-2004 03:50 PM

uh oh Serge is going to turn into a treehugger ;-)

I really need to organize a webmaster jaunt to the high mountains of Wyoming, one look at the Tetons or a good day hike up the Tetons and total perspectives can change

they are almost enough to make me believe in God ;-)

they are almost enough to make mem believe in God ;-)

from Robbins book "Another roadside attraction"

There is a mountain in Tibet with unusual depression on the top.
Buddihsts beleive it's the place where Buddah decendet on Earth
Moslems beleive it's where Mohammed stepped on Earth,
archeologists beleive it's the result of the volcanic activity 80,000 years ago.

who is right????

answer: "They all are!"
