2257 gets tigher, Visa hammers the adult industry to the delight of the processors,
the porn royalty in LA squirm in delight thinking just maybe this online nightmare is coming to an end. AVN moves the show to the moeny end of the strip to squeeze more dollars off of what they might think is the last hurrah. Nick sez Porn is dead and he will push drugs....Vick sez TPG's ruined it all....

Or

The playing field becomes leveled....the lucky ones in the right place at the right time loose their grip on the monopoly due to mandated laws and pressures for a real business model. Those that failed to innovate and only were able to imitate are now in trouble. Toolbar whores come under scrutiny and out of retirement looking for the "next big thing".

Hell Puppy 07-25-2004 04:41 AM

I know. But I'm not telling.

Rolo 07-25-2004 06:28 AM

This is a case of : Mo Problems, Mo Money

I´m looking forward to all of the above problems + the unnamed ones... nature does it best selecting, when problems arrive.

Ofcourse it doesn´t mean that nature will select a predictable route, which we all can follow - it will mean that some will hurt while others will prosper - which side you will be on, will depend on your ability to adapt, once the problems arrive (and even better, if you do it before they arrive).

I still belive that more business people will take over, where others fail... those who continue with old dying concepts, and refuse to change those concepts will end up like captains on ships heading towards disaster...

The ironic part is that while we are intelligent people, then we still let the most stupid ideas grow, until they drag us all down... but we shouldn´t feel bad, because this is the trademark of humankind, that we countinue to praise ignorance as was it some gift from nature, instead of using the real gift from nature - our brains!

There are a lot of hurdles being put up in this industry.

The question I have is not is porn profitable still, there is money to be made. With all these changes there could be more money because some people will be calling it quits.

The question I am having is the money left worth the new risks? In the past with fat profits, low gov't intervention it was a no brainer. However with falling profit margins, a comfortable lifestyle secured, new gov't intervention, it is coming to a point where I am going to rebalance the equation and see if the reward is still worth the risk.

2004 is a different world then 1997.

Vick 07-25-2004 11:59 AM

Actually the ironic things is while at this time I see profits shrinking for most (regardless of what they may post)

This is the first time in quite a while I'm starting to get excited about the business again
and looking for um .... new things :cool2:

Hello, speak up, is there somebody there?
These hang-ups are getting me down
In a world frozen over with over-exposure
Let's talk it over, let's go out and paint the town

You're a dream for insomniacs, prize in the cracker jacks
All the difference in the world is just a call away

Exactly....

plus , Its getting so boring.

Vick 07-25-2004 12:07 PM

Sometimes I think it's all been a dream
People I've met places I've seen
Lovers & money sailed through my arms and my bed
Leaving footprints of angels where devils fear tread

And it really makes me smile when I turn back the years
Cherish the laughter, remember the tears

The business now is not the business it was them
As time goes by I'll tell you my friend

Is the business bleeding 'cos it feels so much pain
Some things never change

King of the road, no time for the blues
or starry-eyed losers drawn in tattoo's

LadyMischief 07-25-2004 01:24 PM

It will give the industry a much-needed enema.

2004 is a different world then 1997.

I think that is a very true and intelligent comment - I wish more people did the same thinking... I mean if you have a good stable mainstream business, then the income can be many times bigger than adult, but with much lower risks. No reason to risk it all, when the future is bright in other areas than adult.

The adult business will move more and more away from the entrepreneur stage into business formation to handle issues with law, banking and large-scale business - not saying that the "one man" operation will be gone, but in 2005+ it will surely take much more to be sucessful in this business, than in 1997 or 2004...

The industry will get more "heat" in the future, in areas such as law/politics, banking/processing, and other business situations. We are not well-liked by anyone, and we will be scapegoat for some of the problems in this world.

Nowdays I see the insane profits in mainstream - what the adult industry started has been taken over by mainstream - real business (not dotcom) will prosper in mainstream.

In adult the profits will only get smaller, some people will be cut out of the "food chain", and we risk waking up to nasty letters from the bank or police knocking at our door... now some will prosper in all of this, but it will be much harder than before, and not worth the risk for many.

Its funny how someone with generic content and shitty sites blames TGP for his shrinking profits - thats something I like to call poor business skills and failure to adapt.

Let me guess, you're one of those people who think TGP makes no or little money? Yes, we are all in business to serenade the surfer with free porn in hopes he will never have to join a site. I hope that was the answer you were looking for.

To quote Deniro "You talking to me"? Biggy
If so we have a difference of opinion

Beyond that I've never said TGP "TPG's ruined it all" I have said in my opinion it's a bad business model and we all could be making more $

Beyond that if you read what I've posted here in this thread .......

Further more from what I've seen one of the prevalent revenue generation models of the larger TGP's is selling text link placement
Now how is the value of that link placement determined?

By the amount of visitors that come to that site per day?

And how are the maximum amount of the visitors gained ....... by being very surfer friendly, offering 10's of thousands of free images and movies including money shot video clips (edited to add - and marketing it as 50,000 free pics and movies, Free Porn - not marketing it as THE BEST PORN - but as the most free porn )

That being said it's not a fun idea to try to piss in my Wheaties in a Monday morning while the second cup of espresso is still brewing, and I havn't had the opportunity to become familiar with your efforts Biggy so ....
... why don't we leave it at that

Thanks and have a wonderful lifetime

Vick 07-26-2004 10:51 AM

and not knocking you Gentleman but what you see as lots of $$$

and what I see as lots of $$$$ may be different things

Yup I'm a hater!

I can't for the life of me figure out why surfers actually pay for porn when it's available in massive amounts for free... and every TGP running butt fuck has thousands of links to it!

I always thought it would be best to give the surfer fuck-all for free, but hey thats just me...

this entire thread is cracking me up big time. Not that what you all are saying isn't serious, and deserving of deep thoughts. But it makes me remember so clearly the days before I actually started working with porn, and was just surfing it. Between TGPs, just plain free amateur submitted sites and newsgroups I could not see the logic of ever actually joining a pay site! When I did find a paysite back then that looked like something i really wanted to see, a simple run of the password boards and some clever brute force applications and I was in in a heartbeat. Of course I haven't done anything like that in over seven years, and sites are much better protected then they were back then, but i distinctly remember telling those around me that they would be stupid to ever buy a magazine of pay for a membership ever again :yowsa: :yowsa:

Lookit me now, unbelievable how things change

I also am an ex-non-paying-porn-for-free-surfer and still to this day I'm not sure how I switched from that to webmaster (now I pay for my content  ).

One thing I do know though is for every ex-non-paying-porn-for-free-surfer that turns to the dark side there's thousands of non-paying-porn-for-free-surfers left.

Seems the webmasters are the only one's paying for porn

 thats quite a paradox isn't it Trev??? heh heh I have seen some smart business people out there with exclusive content that knows exactly how to take that 'junk' traffic from TGPs and turn it into a nice bank account figure, so TGPs still work. I know there are sites that I see listed occassionally that their galleries make me want to join to see what happens. But there are others out there that do not have a clue. I have seen galleries with upwards of 5 minutes of video including the money shot listed TGPs and one link to their site
TGP owners push for more content, and higher quality
Submitters push for showing nothing but thumbs and 50 links to sponsors
It is the smart ones that balance the rules of the TGPs and their own sales.

Now hows that for D'uh LOL theres spaz pointing out the obvious
