I'll be flying 20 flights over the next 3 months...very unnerving, indeed.

I must have missed all the times members of the groups you mentioned have stated publically the are going to kill Americans. |
Yes, Mizz Peaches ma'am, I read the article.
I don't care where else she writes - the fact that her writing appears on such an obviously biased site tells me a great deal about the author. The news I listen to most days from "Reshet Alef" is less biased. I found a number of things in it questionable (flight crew informing a passenger that Air Marshalls were aboard the plane; the illiteration that a law enforcement official was standing by with "14 Syrian passports in his hand", for example). What proof, aside from the author's paranoia (if not bigotry), do you have that the 14 individuals are part of any group that "have stated publically the are going to kill Americans"? The first thing I thought of as I read the article were the med students who scared the fuck out of some ignorant cracker (and managed to get onto the national news) when the woman wouldn't stop staring at them. Really ... if you are going to post tripe like that, you shouild at least have put your original post in proper Oprano fahsion. Something like: Fucking Ragheads Scaring The White Women Plotting With Anti-Zionists And McDonalds Too Ariticle: http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles...e.asp?ID=14249 Discuss. |

I hate Mexican bus boys but I played basketball with a black guy today so it is all good. I am not expressing an opinion over the "content," but I will say that the article was poorly written. She needs to make a commitment to an agenda. You either are profiling or you are not. Her descriptions of people's demeanors seemed to leave unaccounted for the fact that a plane was flying them. Many people's perceptions change with additional anxiety. Just my thoughts, and yes, I have taken into account the fact that I am not smart enough for Oprano. |
they were all doing lines of coke in the bathroom.
that's all |

What would YOU have done if you were one of the people on that plane? Clearly she and her husband were NOT the only ones concerned. I read an account of a situation, not any particular "agenda" except stating the simple fact that we're all aware of: America's Politial Correctness CAN be a dangerous thing. And from what I could tell, she wanted to alert people to be aware of their surroundings. Not a bad thing, IMHO. Think about it - if ONLY white short pudgy middle aged blonde women were threatening in public to kill Americans with grocery carts AND had already done so, don't you think people would be eying me funny in the grocery stores? :D |
Since, according to the article: "None of this was reported anywhere" The fact checking is obviously very limited.
The story offers good food for thoughts, but I wouldnt put the Vulcan DeathGrip on Islamic people who go to the bathroom on a plane as soon as I see them just yet... |

She made that statement, yet tried to sell an idea that was in conflict of that statement. I never gave my opinion on what she "tried" to say. Maybe I agree? How could you interpret that I did not? But you can't all out say it then make a declaration that she is somehow detached from a tainted belief. Have guts, say it. Her Thesis seems to be inspired by a challenge on Civil Liberties vs. US Safety, by selecting men of arabic decent and searching them more frequently / thoroughly. Yet she is not suggesting racial profiling? She is somehow cleansed? C+ 2) This is a far deeper issue than most people realize. We seem to simplify it by saying "pat down those arabs" and the world is naturally safer. The skewing of civil liberties is a slippery slope that includes the potential for disaster. History has taught us a lot. Now, before I am attacked, please keep in mind that I am simply raising points that should not be interpreted as my opinion either way on an agenda, but more an opinion over the concept of thinking things through. Some changes could send waves through our civil liberties. That change could effect your rights. She told a story that seemed to reveal that she is possibly uptight, more than it did to indict Arabs. |
What the extremist really need, is a few white or asian people.
Boy, with all the profiling done, seems crackers like me dont get much attention going on planes. Next time you see that 8 year old white kid playing a gameboy, try and see if he's really playing a game, or if the screen is actually displaying a timer... slowly ticking down to zero tik... tik... tik... |

Reminds me of 3 months after 9/11, I was flying with two of our programmers from the US to Europe, and there were alot of arabic people with the flight... now at first we joked that we better prepare - in a good tone, but the more we talked about it, the more likely it seamed... one of the programmers was getting a bit paranoid, and started to count how many they were and where they went... it seamed like it was a large group of 16 males aged 20-40, and they were not seated close to eachother, so they would go back and forward to talk.
Now the paranoid thoughts started to spread to all three of us, and we were seriously talking about when they would make their move, and what we should do... between the US and Europe there is just water, and with 9/11 still fresh in our minds, then we were sure that they would take over the plane, once we got to the UK, and then crash the plane into London. The monitor in the flight showed our route, and the closer we came to the UK, the more our thoughts started playing with us... and just with 5 mins away from London 6-8 of the arabic guys did another round of going back/forward between their seats - I remember in that moment I was fully convinced that this was it, but something unexpected happen - they just did the same as before - they didn´t turn into terrorists, they just did as they had done many times before. We got off the plane, and have laughed about since, however I´m not sure that my mind won´t play tricks with me in a similar situation. Sure their actions were odd, however most of the things going on in our heads were made by ourself, inspired by 9/11... that was when I learned that terror is message, which will always be with us, and that Osama had made me loose faith in young arabic males - the ones he needs to recruit... and my thoughts would only make it more easy for Osama, because the young arabic males would feel alienated from me and the rest of us, if we started to listen to all of our thoughts - even when they got paranoid. |

Several men -- who I presume were the federal air marshals on board -- hurried off the plane and directed the 14 men over to the side." Lot of "uptight" people on that plane and in the airport! :awinky: |

'Course, Mizz Peaches, you change a plane to a bus and dem sand niggers to some good ole fashioned 'merikin niggers, you can hear de same ting. Change de bus to a streetcorner and change de niggers to some bean-eaters, and again, you got de same ting. Some day us mud people gotta git educated on howz not to upsets de white folks. I love the fact that a woman wrote this.
The awe inspiring. I hope her husband buys her a brand new mop for her birthday. |

I know you'd be more than happy if one of your daughters said she was going for a stroll alone in the middle of the night like I do many times in my neighborhood, but on a street in the slums filled with prostitutes, pimps and crackhouses. No need to be careful or carry protection because not EVERYONE there is bad and it's just not fair to paint them all with the same brush. Of course you'd let her because there are some GOOD people who live there too and it's a shame to profile a neighborhood like that! |

Women have long been discriminated against. Her writing this is hypocritical. But funny all the same. Liberals are getting torn up because you do not agree with them. This is a low level article that undermines everything our country was built on. She is telling a story. It is a decent story. You attacked me for attacking her writing style more than anything, but if you want to bump this up to the level that she should be nominated for some journalism award, go ahead. If you want to do some reading for learning, I suggest this. In fact, please tell me how you feel about this. Quote:

OK, Smartypants, just for shits and grins let's say she wrote like a 4 year old :) That doesn't make the event go away.
At this point, young middle eastern men, traveling together, with foreign passports, have flown planes into buildings and killed people. And they are saying they will do it again. WHY NOT check them more strigently at the airport? Please explain to me why going through this group's bags, checking their passports against lists we all know the feds keep, checking their person more carefully BEFORE they got on the plane is such a violation of these non-citizen's rights. :awinky: |
Sigh.
Where did I say that I think everyone is nice? Where did I say that think I think my daughters would be safe in any given neighborhood? On airliners in particular, Arabs have ALWAYS made people nervous since the 70s. Haven't had to fly anywhere since 9/11, but I have no doubt that I would be aware of every [remotely] Arabic looking person on the plane myself. The fact of the matter is that a group of young male [insert any random ethnic group here] makes certain people nervous as hell. Everything I read in the article suggests that this was exactly what took place. What makes you think they AREN'T doing a better job of screening people on airlines today, aside from the fact that this author and her husband were worried by the conduct of a bunch of Arabs armed with, from the sounds of things, a McDonalds bag, some flutes, and 14 Syrian passports that the FBI let her see (along with, apparently, their ticket information)? You posted a link to an piece that, IMHO, contains less factual information than a typical cut & paste by Meni. It may have been from another publication, but the original site you linked to is about as unbiased toward Arabs as "The History Of The Jewish Race" by Heinrich Himler and Joseph Gobels. Besides ... I doubt very serioulsy the next attack will be in the air. While the government and half the people in America are studying the skies, I suspect they'll jam it up our asses. |

But after 9/11 I absolutely look, almost ashamed to admit it, but the fact remains the hijackers were Arab, the people dancing in the streets on 9/11 were Arab. Of course we sure as hell showed those Afghannis and Iraqies whats what for what those Saudis did on 9/11 huh Quote:
Lets see - you have to take off your shoes unless your wearing sneakers because explosives could not possibly be hidden in a sneaker  ID and tickets are checked when going into the gates area, but not when boarding the flights, because no one could possibly enter any of the 200 doors in a couple hundred thousand square foot area, nor could they switch tickets with anyone else, or steal them from other passengers. After all ther are at least 2 or 3 security guards patroling  Al Queda has publicly stated they would make more airline attack attempts, since they are an almost all Arabic, Muslim groups, and since all the Hijackers of 9/11 were Arabic. It makes perfect sense that there should be no suspicion cast on Arabic people flying in large groups. If you tell the average person (read airport screener) that they need to be careful to not racially profile anyone under threat of losing their job and or being sued. That average person will take great measure to AVOID looking with suspicion at anyone of the ethnicity that they are fearfull will claim profiling. |

There is a large difference between profiling someone as a supsect to a potential crime and destruction of civil liberties.
Read the article again. That is her point is it not? |
This is gonna pi** off a few people; but I seem to remember that the people trying to kill us pretty generally all come from the same place and practice the same religion...
I say search them, instead of Caucasian grannies and little Caucasian kids. You might be surprised what they would find. |

The authorities have the right to detain anyone they like without proof of permanant or temporary american citizenship, to a degree. This degree extends to a much larger level than the one we are operating at. If we want to detain passengers for suspicious activity, we have the right to. There is no international law against it. The only fallout would be the same action taken by foreign governments to American citizens traveling abroad. Which, in essence, is a very god thing. Tighten security worldwide, even if out of spite, and you are doing the citizens of the world a favor. Civil liberties, when boiled down, are a joke. An ill defined, constantly morphing set of guidelines to control standards and practices of the actions of one human against another outside the bounds of criminality. Sandbox rules, in other words. Nebulous codes of ethics without borders. The time for civil liberties is over, especially inside of your own countries borders. As a caveat.. Civil Liberties are not CIVIL RIGHTS. Civil rights are bound by doctrine, legislation, constitution and statute, both domesticaly and internationaly. |
Quote:
[/b][/quote] Actually, according to Judge William Wayne Justice, the 14th Amendment extends such protections to anyone within our borders...that's why our schools are being financially destroyed educating illegals. According to som pols, our Constitution is in effect whereever we go. They keep complaining about the 'Constitutional rights' of foreign nationals on foreign soil. Personally, I feel that most people are blissfully unaware that Senators, Congressmen, and Federal judges (including the SCOTUS justices) can be impeached. Many should be! |

How is that doing a better job? Oh... and when we got back into Las Vegas airport a few months ago, they were tearing apart some family's suitcase while the mom watched in horror as the security staff held up the family's dirty vacation underwear for the whole check-in line to see.... and yet some really, nasty stinky taped up box that was headed for Korea didn't get opened because security said that it stunk too much already closed up! I guess that's how they should get the bomb on the plane... just slap some foreign writing on the box and surround the inner core with the bomb inside with some really smelly fishy stuff - fish eyes, squid, something really gagging... and don't worry, the Americans will be too busy debating racial/religious profiling and hassling grandmothers to have time to even bother searching anything further. |
