TGP's, Link Lists, are an EXCELLENT business model for the owner.

Costs of running it: ZERO. No content to buy, no sites to build and even bandwidth charges are next to nothi9ng compared to the sites who are listed near the top.

From the average webmaster's point of view,
webmaster is unhired contractor working his ass off on building, submitting, buying content, paying for bandwidth and has the same chance of winning as a gambler who walks into casino.
The law of Big Numbers state clearly:
_SOME_ players win! and _ S O M E _ win BIG!,
while the majority leave their money to pay casino stockholders fat dividends.

Guys, the resentment webmasters show towards the TGP/Link lkist owners is a resentment of the ones who fully understand their place in the food chain, can't do anything about it and are like a squirrels in the cage who don't like to run, but have only one choice:
run forward in the circle, running hard and getting nowhere.

My VIVAT to PK's, Huns and Shems ps of this world,
you got it guys and gals and I enjoy watching you fleecing the masses,
my kind of a game!
;-)))))

it surely is....if I hasn't started as a click broker,
I'd be a TGP owner,
the sweet place to be, even though the money are much smaller

Anyone looking to try their hand, but not sure they have the extra time to do a TGP, and would like to capitolize on this free money, please take a look at www.remotethumbs.com

I would love your assessment on that program (for a TGP beginner) Serge...

With sponsors going to freehosted galleries, the middleman is slowly being squeezed out. With submitters getting desperate to make anything off the less than stellar traffic, they're adding dialers, auto-installs, etc. and onwers are getting tired of it, so everyoine is going to partner accounts and freehosted galleries. With TGP traffic also dwindling in quality, they've all gone to pre-paid spots to make up for the lost income from banner ads (although they tend to still have plenty of those too).

It's interesting watching everything evolve.

Sykk,
I wouldn't call it an evolution.....when I was running sergescash and saw profits start to decline in $$ and cents,
I used different tactics to keep ROI constant....
shave, shmave, etc,
and I see the same happening now with TGP's,
the more business falls,
the more "evolution" is needed to maintain the same profit margins.

NONE of it was needed when things were peachy rose.
;-)))

none of us is patently bad people, we just try hard to maintain the same "bang for a buck", whatever it takes
;-))))

IMHO TGPs have their place. They serve their purpose and the good ones do it well without jerking the surfer around to hard. Dame and I are interested in jumping into the TGP game which is why I was very excited to see The Shemp had come over here. This was going to be my oppurtunity to chat with someone, get to know them, who has a lot of knowledge on one aspect of the business that I know nothing about from the owners point of view (see http://www.gaypowerhouse.com my TGP that is incredibly poorly designed and I do nothing with.) Yes, a long time (for me) in the business and I was willing to be a complete newbie and ask the man question after question, until i could at least learn how to make a marginal income using that source as well. The name of the game is moving forward for me.
But it seems like there might be some hostility towards this part of the industry here and thats kind of a bummer. Yes, I acknowledge that TGPs/LLs are giving away way to much free hardcore porn, submitters are resulting to cheating and damn near throwing content at surfers just for a click. There are problems but like it or not TGPs are here to stay, at least for the imediate future and I am willing to jump in there with both feet to make some money. for myself, the company i am employed with and other sponsors with good affiliate programs.
I hate to say it like this, because i can see the snowball heading down the steep slope right now ready to crush me, but its very easy to have a LOT of something and look at the people who have nowhere near as much, and slam them for what they are trying to do to get more. And yes, I know no one here has any sort of vested interest in my success, so it doesnt pay to hold my hand and walk me through "making money on the internet for dummies"
I for one want money........a lot more of it then i currently have, and if jumping into the TGP/LL game will get it for me.......then I am all for it. And Cudos to those guys/gals who have achieved with them :)

Just my humblest of opinions

Serge you are correct.

We have gotten into the TGP game with http://pornmo.com

We wll be launching another TGP soon, AmateurThumb.com it will be a sister site to Amateur Index - we will be pushing it hard with our traffic, and will be putting it up on our exit consoles as well.

TGPs are part of the business, they are not going away.

Rolo 07-07-2004 12:04 PM

spazlabz, for what its worth, then I think you have a better chance of making money owning a TGP, than some surfer turned TGP owner overnight. It seams you are aware that there is a balance, which is always moving... sometimes we need to giveaway some of our content to bring in sales, other times we need just to write the words (hilton tape, pam tape etc.)...

Alot of the top TGP owners are not counting their success rate because of counter stats, but based on bank account stats ;)

One of the serious drawbacks that i have talked to TGP owners and such with hosted galleries is that a lot of people tell me the conversions suck donkey balls on them with most programs.

Serge - what was the best adult site you ever saw?

I'd nominate porno.com - no pics, no liability, nothing but moving traffic to $$

I know times change and so on

Rolo 07-07-2004 12:51 PM

Vick, you are right, however we canīt turn back time... we need to focus on getting the tgps in control of business people... I would love to see the galleries you would approve on - VicksTGP.com - Iīm sure you would do a much better job than most picking those that would actual convert traffic :)

Intersting thread. Funny because I am starting a BBW TGP and I was even thinking of branching out to other niches of porn if this goes well.

The original concept -- still in some places held -- is link lists and TGP owners take a cut off the top (in customer sales) and passes traffic onto the surfer for linking the content.

Then, starting with Adult Buffet in about '98 or '99, the god-like overbearing dictatorial greedy rules began. And enough webmasters went with those rules.

So nowadays you have a mix, of the nutcase dicators, the good but very very strict owners, and those who with less restrictive rules.

Hosted galleries are somewhat for webmasters, but more for the TGP owners. Some TGP owners will accept submissions from them, some will only use them themselves.

It all comes down to the script. If it's totally static, the same one's appear too many places. 1) too many places so webmaster ones won't get listed 2) sometimes too many places that the TGP owners are all listing them. They don't like pure randomly generated ones, the owners, because they require they have gallery descriptions that remain constant. So why they might not convert to well has to do partly with content, partly with design and mostly with the limited and static numbers of them.

A good hosted gallery script has taken all this into consideration and offers up a way to have multiple content, design, banners, and still keep it static. This means thousands of galleries all different can be made by altering just a few elements and combining them. Some TGP owners will link these when they don't link others. And certainly TGP owners like them for themselves as well. Any sponsor who wants a script than can do all of this, just hit me up. Right now there are at least four top sponsors using it (and some smaller ones too) and getting good conversions too.

he he he Rolo

Truth be told I'm (somewhat of) a hypocrite

I've owned a small TGP2 site for years now, at first I accepted submissions but after a while I only listed my own galleries or sponsor galleries

The submissions weren't making me $, weren't sending any traffic (link relativity on search engines really didn't make that big a difference at the time), were of different quality than what I had made and I had the content already to make galleries

:yowsa:

Really don't do anything much with that site now, it's just another way to filter traffic to my paysites

This is true, mainly because gallery builders for hire (with a couple exceptions) and even program owners don't understand TGP traffic. I used to make a very healthy living with just a couple adult buffet listings per week. Like an SEO expert, I learned how to tweak the traffic and filter it and work it to maximize profiability from it. I was probably one of the ones repsonsible for banner swaps getting banned from TGP's ;-)

Too many sponsors put out hosted galleries because they think they have to (to get more affiliates), yet they have no clue what they should look like or how they should function. So, they end up outsourcing it to some shop in India for $5 per gallery and are shocked at the shitty conversions because the guys building the galleries can't even put together a coherent text link.

Look at the amazing galleries Soulcash puts out in comparison to some of the old timer/big player programs. Same with NastyDollars and OxCash (before they all became a bit saturated).

Something I see missing from FHG's, that we're adding to ours at EGC, is a webmaster link. A lot of times if I'm looking for a new sponsors, I'll hit the TGP's and start looking for a webmaster link. At least if the gallery performs subpar, you can grab a couple extra webmasters out of it.

The thing I like about FHG's (from a sponsor point of view) is you can control the advertising message. Instead of worrying about an affiliate misrepresenting your site or putting up content that you don't have in your members area, you can control it.

Ya think so? I sure hope so. I need some advice from people who DO own TGPs. I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm just doing it. But will do research...
