So why do these things gets burried so often?
Just not as fun as burning bodies and beheadings? Implemented 30,000 new teachers and supervisors for the schools of a new Iraq. Rebuilt and refurbished schools - 2,200 of them Refurbish 240 hospitals and health clinics Repair bridges (not just the ones bombed ;)) Upgrade the electrical grid Modernize the communications system $6 billion in oil revenue so far this year (more than in Saddam's rule) - don't make the argument that that is why we are there. Iraq's largest creditors have pledged to forgive or substantially reduce Iraqi debt incurred by the former regime Free speech laws, the right to assemble, protest, etc. Woman's rights laws. |
talking about good in Iraq is against today's leberal political correctness agenda,
how dare you siuggesting such a topic????? |
Less than 1000 US soldiers KIA. Amazing.
|
Best one ... Saddam captured.
|
How many weeks of civil war do you think it would take to undo all of that?
Besides ... since you seem to think we need to kill all the Arabs anyway, why would you be citing this? |

The thread title is "Let's talk about the good in IRAQ" :salute:[/b][/quote] This household is celebrating the removal (to San Diego via Kuwait) of a lot of the good that was in Iraq until last Friday. I will let Shitzferbrainsfuhrer Jesse share more press releases from Haliburton. I'm still not sure that all that investment in a country full of people that ought to be killed makes any sense, but what do I know. |
PornoDoggy - so you make my point. No matter how much good there is to mention you only want to stick to the negative.

It's not about being positive or negative, it's about being REAL. You're the one who speculated in another thread that maybe we just ought to kill off all the Muslims, so you talking to me about negativity is pretty laughable. The Marine this household is glad to have out of Iraq was part of rebuilding a school and a clinic, some of it (like the rest of his company) on what little time he had off. That's what Americans do. That doesn't change the fact that attempt to remake Iraq in our own image will blow up in our faces in the long run. |
I don't think we should kill all arabs - just all Muslim Extremists :D
I'll throw Christians in there if it makes you feel any better. BUT, you are right! It is about being real. The reality is there is a lot of positive going on in Iraq that is consistently overshadowed by the negative. We should remind ourselves that people's lives are improving in Iraq and that is because of our efforts - not in spite of them. |

Girlfriend's son turned over his company to a replacement two weeks ago; he was in Kuwait as of Sunday night/Monday morning, and will get into San Diego late tonight. I was worried that they would freeze him in place or rotate him to another command/assignment in-country, but according to the Battalion newsletter, they're rotating about 25 folks on PCS orders.
:bdance: :cdance: :bwave: As for the rest of it ... Jesse wants to celebrate all the good we've done in Iraq. I don't argue that some good has been done since we've been there. I don't know that it offsets the damage we've done in the way we conducted the invasion. BTW ... a PornoDoggy prediction. Within two years of Iraqi soverignty, one of the words that will be re-added to our working vocablulary - "nationalization." |
