He told me to ask around and at Oprano, you usually get what you asked for. |
AFAIK I've never heard of him - unless he's gone by a different moniker at some point. Then again, I don't exactly know everyone. :P

Only 3 votes so far.but none of them know Boldy yet..
Hmmmm... |
Sar, he has been around for a while... about 3 years I think.. he was involved with a site called freetgpsubmitter.com
I think the TGP community would know the name pretty well.. I don't know if he can be trusted or not personally.. but from what I have seen of him I am very impressed with his ideas. BTW.. I have tested out remotethumbs in a small way.. I have logged what they are transferring and dont have any major concerns about security based on my poking about. I dont run TGP sites but if I did, this is an awesome tool for anyone running an all thumbs tgp imho. I added a TGP section to this site to test how it converts http://www.sleekssickestporn.com/galleries/ .. there was no way I would have bothered if I had to maintain data for 1200 new thumbnails and hosted gallery links that change every day. |

I talked to Joe breifly about this program. I have seen the same thing a few years ago. Id test it out on a box that I didnt have anything crucial on and see how it worked. As I recall the other program worksed pretty cool. |
Hey Opti, Gonz :)
I have no real problem with the program. I run a similar script of my own for myself (without any directories at 777 permissions of course). I have no real problem with Boldy. But, it is pretty damn bold to come here and clain that we should trust his program because it is him and I have never heard of him. That is the only reason for this poll. |

nothing wrong with the poll btw. |
I've never heard of him and I still don't trust remotethumbs <_<

I use them on 4 sites and think its a great program. If you dont like it dont use it, but why start a pissing contest saying not to trust them? seems pretty childish to me. |

We appreciate the feedback, though however as it gives us some more ideas to improve the experience for our user base too. But just because someone is or is not a known name does not have any effect on their skill levels ( you know this already though) and since you know what you are doing as a programmer, then anylize the program for what it is, and on it's merrits, and how they will effect you. How long someone has been on a board, or who they are known by is really quite irrelevant to how something works. |
Never heard of Boldy.
Any software that leaves your server open is going to be suspicious. I would never let any 3rd party have long term access to my servers. It is common sense. I have met Joesho, I like him a lot, but I still would not put any software on my machine that others can control remotely, etc... |

1.)What about as a program owner, do you think it is good to be a sponsor and work remote thumbs from that end? 2.) like has been said if working it from the other end you are able to get useage and money from a small or medium size TGP that you otherwise would not be using due to time constraints, would it not be be benificial for use in that capacity? if you have a large TGP in running, then maybe you would have these concerns become a little more prvelant to you. but for the newre guys, or people interested in growing, but are not flush with manpower resouces or people that want to use their valuable time to build other aspects of their business this tool is a godsend. and could possibly make the difference in wether they grow, or wether they get the cold shoulder from people cause they are not sending them enough sign ups. |
Joe there could be a use for your product from smaller people trying to get in. However, many times these people do not have much cash and probably tend to fail pretty quickly.
Do you want to hitch your future on these people? I am far from an expert on TGP, its a difficult racket and gets more confusing everyday. So my opinion on specific TGP issues is probably not worth much. I however stand by my stance on not putting software on my servers that can be controled by other people. |

Second you have to put a password in our interface which is generated on the script you have to upload. These passwords have to match. You can rename the script to any name you want. name it ajskhjasASDASasdjkashdka893489273myass.cgi and a hacker will have a hard time finding it. The script is a readable perl script, feel free to analyze it and see for yourself we dont have any intentions of cheating on our clients. Thanks, B. |

I have not seen anybody in this thread or the other thread "Bash" the program. I did see them raise reasonable concerns and saw them state exactly what those concerns were. If you want to survive here on Oprano, don't take offense first of all. Secondly, address the concerns. Here you will for sure get honest opinions and if we start bashing either you or the program, you won't be able to miss it. :okthumb: |

I believe you to be an intelligent person , and respect your POV quite often, ( even if at times I disagree with it) |
can we see the tits now?

But, as you are aware I am sure, you don't come into Oprano and try to tell folks here to trust something based on the person who worked on it's reputation or lack thereof. You came in looking for honest opinions, it looks like you have gotten some. I am sure Boldy put a lot of heart and soul into the product (as a programmer I understand that completely) but if he is gonna survive over here he needs to grow a touch thicker skin. imho of course btw, it might have gotten missed in the other thread, but the user docs need some work. The copy I dl'd didn't show very many of the graphics of the screenshots etc. If I may suggest, convert them over to html and hang em off the site to be perused. It would save the time of a dl and give better control of the graphics. |

I also appreciate all of the feedback that we were able to recieve today. |

I only stated that I don't know Boldy... he could be the second coming for all I know but I don't know him. Also show me where I started a "piss" about remotethumbs!? I merely stated that I don't trust them and I believe I've explained why... no piss just my opinion. For the newbies this might be the perfect program, but I just think if your going to be so lazy with your business that you'll use this program then your doomed to fail anyway! |

You asked for opinions and I gave you mine! If you don't like it don't ask! |

If you don't like it don't ask![/b][/quote] I apreciate your opinion Trev, it just is taken with a grain of salt, unless you actually try the program, before you point out any percieved fualts you may or may not find with it. we have dilligently tried to adress the security issues you have raised, and unless you REALLY look at it deep rather than on the surface you would not, and could not know that. So you are right I asked for oinions, and I want them. ( but I would actually like them from people that looked at the program first) if you look at it, and still have some security concerns, then by all means please tell me what those are in YOUR opinion- that is what I am asking for. |

I took a good look around and I still feel that I would prefer to run my own ship with my own scripts and my server locked up nice and tight, thank you. |

However if there is something that you would like to see added to improve our service, and allow us to earn your business. Please tell me, as we are dedicated to our users experinces as I have said before. |
