It's on another board, that's where she'll respond so I'll just link to it (no referral code Serge *smile*)

Kayla made a comment today that she's taking the donations she got for her car accident and "splitting them just to be fair" with Sleazydream.

Carrie you should just copy and paste your post here....

I will help you:

I might be reading this totally wrong, and if so I'll gladly apologize and eat crow. Got no problem with eating crow - in public even.

Here's the situation.
Kayla of Kaylacam got into a bad accident recently. Got bruised up pretty badly but no serious injuries and her car is totalled. She has insurance, but her deductible is $1k.

So Sleazydream gets on GFY asking for donations to cover the $1k, saying he's going to send her $100 to start it off. Webmasters start sending money like crazy and there was a big drama attached to it.

Now today, Kayla posts this:

I asked her if my reading of this is correct and she hasn't answered yet... but it sounds like she's taking the extra $2500 of money that people donated to HER and splitting it with Sleazydream. That would be $1250 of webmaster donations that go to Sleazydream when they're meant to go to Kayla to help her cover rental car costs, string her along until she feels well enough to work on her site, etc...

Does anyone else see what's wrong with this picture or am I just being a prude by thinking that letting someone else profit from webmaster donations is just totally fucking wrong ?!?!??!

This is classic....

I wonder if anyone is going to report this as income for IRS?

Peaches 03-06-2004 03:25 PM

I don't think that's the real Kayla.

Kayla posts as kaylacam - no "s" - on both JBM and GFY.

TheEnforcer 03-06-2004 03:27 PM

That was a troll.

TheEnforcer 03-06-2004 03:28 PM

As Peaches pointed out she posts as Kaylacams and the troll posts as kaylascams with the obvious intention of implying kayla scams. Troll.

GOOD CATCH! Only thing worse then people who beg for money are people who try to spoof other people to cause problems.

Carrie 03-06-2004 03:34 PM

Yeppers, Peaches caught an imposter.
I've apologized to Kayla over there and I'll gladly do it here too.
Sorry for falling for that, Kayla.
Fuckin' imposters.

Mike AI 03-06-2004 03:42 PM

Serge I am waiting for you to dig deep into your wealthy pockets to fund some prizes here for posts!

I have had tons of e-mails and ICQs asking when Oprano is going to start giving out prizes for post totals. Seems a lot of people want to start making cool threads like: " What watch do you own?" " Who is your favorite boy band?" "SallyJoBob need a liver trasplant - paypal here" "ARS sig whore post here" "I think I am gay" "Lensman read this"

Maybe we should start a collection of the favorite thread titles from places that pay for posts or have active sig whores....

Mike,
fuck sig whores.....I attribute recent Oprano's rise in stats to those lurkers who had enough of bullshit on the other boards...
quantaty vs quality....and NOTHING in this world will ever change that.

Board is my hobby, giving me the opportunity to communicate with people I care about,
money I don't care about,
and I wouldn't turn Oprano in post production factory to satisfy one's ego.

it's THAT simple......

i once stood on the street in a Seattle neighborhood with my Mercedes parked on the sidewalk next to a scruffy looking "Will work for food" guy at an intersection and held a sign that said "Need new 24K wheels, every little bit helps... God Bless"

i could not believe how violently upset people got.

Whole thing smells like a new program is in order....

You start a service that trolls for donations for "worthy causes". Sign up affiliates, they get 35% of whatever donations they recruit. The "worthy cause" and the program owner split the remaining amount.

And of course run the whole thing thru MPA so the shave can be used to cover unexpected expenses and short falls.....gotta pay for the trade show booth, etc, ya know.

According to their website, it is "happily used by" at least the following:

TripleXCash
GigaCash
CowboyBucks
SweetCash
AdultMegaCash
BoobDollars
MensNiche

I thought SIC Cash was now using it since Greg says that's who did their design for 5.0 in this thread:

http://www.oprano.com/msgboard/index.php?a...t=ST&f=1&t=9118

But Brad says otherwise:

Pretty damn confusing for folks just sending traffic and trying to make an honest buck. Im happily not signed up for any of those programs you mentioned.

It amazes me how you can send a program the same quality and amount of traffic and watch it go from 20K of signups to nothing from one month to the next.

Whats even more funky is if you compare notes with other folks...or you have them singed up under you for an override you can see how everybody seems to have a bad month all at once.

Add the correlation of that to the month before or after a trade show and you can see exactly who is paying for your drinks and well as those fancy cars you see in the booths.

My favorite sneaky shave is the "check chasing one" you may have felt this one yourself. You call sponsor for your check which they tell you was sent out on a spefici date and exact check number. Of course it takes you a day to look it up and another day for them to cut you one. By them time its all said and done they just bought themselves another week with the "float".

Ive always liked how that check number that I was quoted vs the actual number of the check [when it finally shows up] aint nowhere similar in numbers.

The moment you enter a thread, there it goes! LOL
