With all the threads bringing marriage or divorce into it , I wondered what Oprano's divorce/marriage stats looked like.

Well on one part of our honeymoon my ex and I bought a engraved brick in a sidewalk at Disneyworld

The brick outlasted the marriage, the brick is still there

I got 2 of those when they launched them one each for each of my kids so it must be like 8 yrs ago ! :)

They are right by the ticket booths on the "boat" side.

Its a Small world after all I guess ;-)))

I betcha the stats for getting divorced in this biz are scary. Really scary.

My Dad offered to buy me a new car or pay for the wedding. I should have taken the car. :P

I will be the first to admit I married WAY too young - 20. Within the first year we had a baby, bought a house and started a business. Too much too soon. We were married for 2 years, then dated again about 2 years after our divorce for almost another year. It has forever imprinted upon me that I should really, really, really know someone before I marry them.

(and the kid was born almost exactly a year to the day of our first wedding anniversary for those who are too polite to ask :P )

I don't think they're higher than any other biz.

I disagree.

I think people become obsessed with being online ALL the time.

To the detriment of real life.

Our brick is a little to the right of the ticket booths as you're looking at them
Shows how far the walk got in 4 years

Yeah it will probably be there after I'm gone, still get a pic with Sebastian at the brick every time we go

Don't have any proof but my gut tells me the divorce rate might be higher than the norm for those in this industry -

I know a LOT of people in this biz who spend more time online than we do. Ask my Mom - she's always complaining about my Dad playing games all day long. :P

Marry someone in the biz and you can ICQ each other from room to room. Perfect :)

Anything can become an obsession and a detriment to a relationship.

That said, anyone without either SMS, ICQ or email isn't likely to hear from me very often...

Youve seen her nekkid too?

Trev 03-02-2004 03:48 AM

7 years comming up and still loving it. :okthumb:

But I do agree that being in this biz has at times put a little strain on the relationship, but nothing we couldn't get through :D

Carrie 03-02-2004 09:53 AM

I scanned down to the 5+ years and clicked that, didn't see the divorced-remarried until after it showed me the results.
I'm both. :)
Divorce was way before the biz.

Anyone without one of those three is probably either 2 years old or 102 years old. :awinky:

Cassie 03-02-2004 02:16 PM

back in the 50's, 81% of all people were married. as of studies done in 2001 or 2002 (can't remember), only 51% of people are married.

i am part of that 49% and plan to stay that way. who needs the bullshit and my money is MY money......

You'd be surprised.

My favorite is when I SMS someone who didn't know what the hell SMS is, let alone that their phone does it... They're amazed when a message appears out of nowhere on their display.

TheEnforcer 03-02-2004 06:32 PM

Figures you wouldn't have a choice that accurately covers my situation. :P Married 8 years but have been seperated for the last 3.

Bestat 03-02-2004 09:38 PM

Going to show my age here :) Married at 18, still married 28 years later, still love the bastard too...LOL No kids, I think this may be the secret to a long marriage!
