over the years you made fun of Todd, and so did I, and I still do,
for being dogmatic and voting Democrats REGARDLESS of ANYTHING. How is YOUR position different from Todd's??? WHAT EXACTLY Bush has to do for you to vote Democrats? please note: Die, being locked up, quote Karl Marx at convention are NOT the choices I am willing to entertain ;-)))) |
It's a good question for anyone, Serge....
These days, I am not confident that anyone votes FOR a candidate....I think they vote AGAINST the other guy. It's hard to imagine the general public liking either one of the two clowns it will come down to on election day...it's more likely they will vote with fear of what will happen to them should the other guy win... Even though I think left-wing nuts are just slightly worse than right-wing nuts, Kerry may not be that bad, only because he would probably be able to accomplish zilch...which is exactly what government should do. Kerry is a professional waffler ala Clinton...kinda nice to have people with no real convictions in the White House... Congress needs to stay in conservative power.. |
DJ,
my thoughts on the subject presizely! Thanks! |
For Mike to vote democrat?
Hypnosis by alien..... or really confusing ballots ;) |

Are we more afraid of losing the right to bear arms? Are we more afraid of losing rights to our privacy or what we do with our own bodies? Are there any Libertarian justices on the Supreme Court? How can there NOT be? How can they not ALL be if they are judges in the first place? How do you get to be a judge and not see that infringing on someone else is fucked up? |

They are salaried by the government, appointed (in most cases) by politicians. Tell me where their loyalties lie. |

I vote in Florida now.
I have voted for Democrats before, not for President but for other posistions. Serge do you really think Kerry is better then Bush? Think he will do better on the economy? On defense? Have you looked a Kerry's record? There are a few Democrats I would support for President, but they are from the South and are pretty Conservative. Of all the Dems who were running for President, I could have supported Lieberman. It has NOTHING to do with party affiliation.... my lists of concerns are as follows: 1) National Defense/Foreign Policy 2) Tort Reform 3) Lower Taxs 4) Smaller Gov't - less gov't spending Everything after this comes a distant 5th... Kerry does not beat Bush on ANY of these issues. Serge what are you top 4 issues for this Country? Does Kerry win all over Bush? |

but him not being Bush is the most what appeals in him. |

2) civil liberties (without them everything else is irrelevant, Hitler's Germany was VERY strong and could defend itself from anybody before they started WWII ;-) 3) Defense 4) less interference from the government into private business matters |

I predict he WILL lose them if he keeps going the way he is...In fact, it seems like JR saw this coming several months ago... Democrats who bring out the deficit as "Bush spends too much" are clutching at straws...we're spending our way out of a slump; we've done it before and will do it again...pull your head out.. |
Quote:

Quote:
but him not being Bush is the most what appeals in him.
Thats my true sentiment right now as well. I would rather have a wishy-washy politician trying to appease everyone. After the Bush presidency, I realized that is what he SHOULD BE DOING anyway... not leading by divine right from an authority other than the one who put him in office. |
Quote:
HAHA then Serge you are voting with emotions and not with logic and facts. You are a soccer mom!
this label should scare Bush than anything else...MAJORITY of voters ARE "soccer moms"! if he dismisses this, than he is in bigger trouble than I thought |

Hopefully the NASCAR Dad's will turn out and vote more! It is not easy for me to defend Bush - because I think he has made some major mistakes. His relationship with God and Christianity is not one of them in my opinion. Bush understands we are a Nation of Laws. |
Good posts everyone! Why I love Oprano :)
First off, I do always vote party ticket, I am just loyal that way and support 99% of the dems running out of Oregon. I guess if someone pushed me against the wall and said to pick 2 republicans I would vote for, for President, I would probably choose. Sen. John McCain X Sen. Warren Rudman ---------------------- I don't belive Kerry is wishy washie at all, this is his first national run and it's tough keeping the story line and pushing his points and thoughts all the time. Sure he knows that some past votes over 20 years don't go over so well, but if you look at any politicans long term voting record, he or she might vote against a certain tank, missle project today, and vote for a diff. one next month. Remember most of these votes are tied into large defense and appr. bills. Not defending Kerry, he wan't my first choice, but I do remember a couple months back watching cspan, which I always do, seeing Dean in front runner postion, and saying to my self, actually yelling at the big screen saying we need someone running who can mabey actually win!!! If Kerry doesn't win, I can see Edwards trying in 2008 against Hillary mabey. Smart, Populist message, good looking, clinton style, etc. Even James Carville a good guy from Mike's state, says Edwards is better with the crowds, engergies better then Clinton did alot. Compares him to JFK. But Edwards has a total of 4 yrs in public Elected life right now. Anyways guys, I don't belive in my heart that Kerry would be a bad president, yes I can see him raising some taxes on the top 1-5%, but shit we have a big ass deficit, don't we? He served his country with presitige, Silver Star (only given for valor), bronze star with a 'V' which means Valor, and 3 or 4 purple hearts for getting shot 3-4 times. Yeh, he came back and protested, so fucking what :) I hold no grudges against anyone that did, or went to canada, etc. You have to do what you belive in. Hopefully he will endorse the end of the Patriot act. Are we going back to the 1950-60's, Gov. Intrusion on our civil rights? Jesus, what's next. While I don't ever much listen to Howard Stern, I can't belive he got suspended by some Clear Channel stations, yeh he can act like a jerk, so what. Alot of Right wing radio hosts were supporting him last night, Hannity, etc. if sex gets you kicked off, what's next from the right wingers and FCC chairman Powell? Bad political speech, fuck me :) peace Todd |

Let me see ... for President I have voted 1 silly write-in (Truman in '72), Independent in '80 (John Anderson), Republican in 1976 (Ford), and (reluctantly in many instances) Democratic the rest of the time.
In local elections my ticket is still pretty evenly split (60/40 Democrat). Before the Robertson faction began it's complete domination of the Rep party, I would almost always vote for an incumbent in Congressional & Legislative elections (the greater the seniority = the better able to obtain good things for the district). Since Reagan/Robertson/et al., I've been a pretty solid Democrat - and I'm a lot less liberal than I used to be. To get me to vote Republican it would require a Dean, Kucinich or Sharpton vs McCain. The tabacco settlement came with Clinton in the office, and the lawyers are part of the ATA, which supports democrats. ( edwards is a fine example) That is why Tort Reform is in my top issues. I have seen how trial lawyers are killing businesses. Companies I am involved with get lawsuits filed against them at least twice a month. ALL of them are worthless suits, but are being used to extort money. Nussance suits. I hate to be in the posistion of supporting Bush, but with my top issues no Democrates come close. |

HAHA then Serge you are voting with emotions and not with logic and facts. You are a soccer mom!
Why? Isn't keeping out policies that you don't want the reason why we live in a democracy? What's the difference between voting FOR someones policies or AGAINST them? A vote is a vote ... & it still has the same effect Do you think voting FOR someone isn't controlled by emotion? Bush sucks ass anyway - we've been kissing his old wrinkly butt for years and he fucks us again on free trade with a stinky half assed patronizing deal. I wonder when we will learn not to expect more ... |
funny how everyone defends democracy while attacking peoples opinions and choices.
how is that for a contradiction! |
