I have been looking at all the different costs, and thought that maybe lawyers and accountants should be the next to get outsourced. I know more and more companies are offering rutine work done by lawyers and accountants in India, so maybe its time too do the same?

Beside the lower price, then maybe in time, when enough companies have outsourced their lawyers and accountants, we will start to have less of them here = a better world :rokk:

Have anyone outsourced their lawyers and accountants to india - yet... or do you like/dislike the idea?

I'm not sure I'd want to count on an attorney or accountant in another country to know about the laws here in the states. In addition, lawyers and accountants are best seen face to face. And how much do you think it would cost to fly one here for a court date/deposition/IRS audit?

Heck, I don't even want my lawyer or accountant from outside my state, let alone from outside the country.

I mean rutine task such as drafting research memos, surveying the laws of various jurisdictions, bookkeeping etc.

The security and confidentiality would be easy to handle, even in India.

If you ever need to go to court, then you should use money on getting the best lawyer/accountant. However in those simple rutine task, then it will save alot of money - probably save 2/3 of cost.

I was thinking we can just send all the lawyers from the US to India!!

I would vote for that!!

Again, there's no way I'd personally trust someone in another country to know all the US laws. And there are laws regarding how lawyers and accountants conduct business in the US - how would you sue someone who's a citizen of India for legal malpractice regarding laws in the US?

I guess for those who are desperate enough to want to save $$ on something like that, it might be worth it, but when I get a lawyer or accountant, I want the best, not the cheapest. :)

Everything is relative - a penny saved is a penny "earned" :groucho:
