Drives me crazy, things are rather simple yet this planet is covered with people who are just fucking ignorant. No wonder it's falling into a huge pit of despair.
I'm glad i'm smarter then the normal asshole so I won't have to worry, but come on how can almost every person you meet be so fucking ignorant :headwall: |
I'm creatively stupid. B)

Can you imagine the chaos if that 90 per cent of us found out the truth - that we're all silly, inconsiderate beings with little to offer the world save our bickering and sarcasm and biased opinions??? I'm of course referring to everyone else - present company excluded.

I just find it funny how people work. You can read most of them like nothing and they do not adept to their surroundings and normally won't branch out and try to learn. You can learn from anyone if you really want to, sadly most people are not smart enough to figure it out. How can someone ask you something 15 times, get an answer yet ask again. Most people live life to be content, and just go through the motions, it just makes me laugh. :yowsa: :yowsa: |
I tend to think that some people have a very high iq but lack in common sense and street smarts.

grim if you wanted to call me out you could have done it on PB, you didnt have to take it over here to oprano.

On the other hand, Im not saying everyone is great, or equal in someway. fuck no. |
you tend to see what you expect to see. if you think that everyone is stupid, you will pick out and notice more often the information that supports that idea.
maybe 98% of people are not stupid and you are stupid for incorrectly believing that you are in the upper 2% of humanity and choose to "go through the motions" thinking as such? Last edited by JR at Jan 20 2004, 12:40 AM |
It's all about perspective...somedays I get pissed at all the stupid people...and somedays...I'm part of the stupid people someone else is getting pissed at.........

My friend had an php help ticket form at his paysite, and he kept getting amials from people like john767676@americanonline.com saying "It doesn't work!"
At first he would reply (correcting the email adress to @aol.com) asking what exeactly it was that wasn't working, but the replys he would then get showed an even more lack of intellegence, so he stopped that after a little while. Now we just laugh about those emails  |

You're all idiots. Everyone here seems smart to me.

I've seen several levels of what could be classified as "stupidity".
a) Those who think they know it all and therefore there's no reason to learn anything more. They usually have high IQ's and are considered "smart", yet to me, this is VERY stupid. b ) Those who just don't want to learn. They have decided they're happy where they are and there's no need to go further. IME, these are usually lower middle class blue collar workers. They do NOT have high IQ's or much education and they have no desire to learn anything in any capacity. c) Those who others consider "stupid" because of lack of education, living conditions, etc. For instance, the couple who runs our subdivision - neither have much of an education, they live simply, don't have much money and probably don't make much money. But they are each VERY smart: She knows how to deal with just about everyone who crosses her path (she works the front gate) and he can solve most civil engineering problems, electrical, construction, etc. They are both learning at every opportunity, just not in a structured environment. Yet again, many people would look at them as "stupid" because they will always be lower middle class and don't have a formal education. d) Those who CAN'T learn. I put myself in this category regarding math/numbers. :P |

We learn and use shortcuts in our everyday lives all the time. Whether you have learned to save 10% of your paychecks in a passbook savings account or whether you have learned to respond to the grocery cashier's usual question with "not bad". - you are living, in a way, an algorithmic-like life. There are algorithms for learning and understanding mathematics and science too. You have to learn how to learn. Learning mathematics is different than learning, say, history. One must understand application to understand the content but it is, nevertheless, a type of thinking which can be learned. --------------- *For those interested, their chapter was on slopes and so I taught them how to take a derivative. It's really quite easy. |

All of the above, naturally, is the result of socialist government policies which have to force fit everyone into the same mold in pursuit of equality. This mold, also naturally, has to be at the lowest common demoninator in order to be all inclusive. And that's why we have warning labels on everything, an absence of any personal responsibility, and massive litigation. Love, Buff |

And that's why we have warning labels on everything, an absence of any personal responsibility, and massive litigation. Love, Buff
Very well put man. I've always found it odd how things work in society. At a very young age we are taught to "think outside the box" to "create your own path" and to "not follow others, to think for yourself." We are taught to be our own person and to be a leader not a follower, yet when someone does take there own path or creates there own style they are an outcast. I heard my entire childhood to be my own person and to always do what feels right to me, not to follow the "style" set by other people, yet I got a tattoo or two, pierced my eyebrow and ears and dressed my own style, I then got called a "freak" and was told I was trying to "rebell" from normal society. When that was not at all what I was doing, I was just wearing the clothing I liked and got tattooes cuz I liked them. Freshman year of high school I got called a hippy and tree hugger because I wore converse all stars, yet the next year everyone had them on. How is it we are taught to be our own person but when we are and do try to have our own style we are then Freaks and outcasts because we don't dress how MTV, and Friends tell us to? This makes no sense to me.... |
Grim that's about the equivalent of "grrrlpower", love yourself, be yourself that gets chanted to teenage girls... yet everywhere we look (tv, magazines, billboards, movies, school) the obvious standard is to weigh 100 pounds or less and fit into children's clothing. If you *do* be yourself, then there's no end to the name-calling, pointing, laughing, and exclusion you'll endure.
Or study hard, achieve, take pride in your schoolwork, get good grades... and when you do so, you're ostracized as a nerd or a geek. Find your own path to God. It's between you and [Him]. But if you do that and discover you're not Christian, then you're a worthless minority sinner heathen, not worthy of the skin you inhabit. Be happy with what you have. Learn to appreciate the good things in life. Money is not everything. Yet follow this path rather than an over-achieving money-focused career-focused life, and you are a lazy, stupid scab. Everything society tells you is hypocritical and false - society says one thing and does/worships/exhibits another. It's society; it's fucked up. Herd mentality - what are you gonna do? |

i heard somewhere, a long time ago, that it takes more brain power to be stupid then to it takes to be smart (intelligent). then i looked at the person who was saying that and realized that this may be true because she was the most stupid person i ever met.
there is no way on earth anyone could be as stupid as this person without working hard at it. so maybe stupid people are smart in a sense. i'll never know cause i steer clear of those i have to explain things more then two times to. B) |

My youngest girl is 4.0 and a genius in math and science. Yesterday, she came back from my truck and said the key does not work in the door. I said" did you turn it around ?" . She said, "No, cause the key does not work that way in my sister's car "...I said, " well, my truck is a different make from your sister's car". Next she had to argue a bit that she has never seen a key work with the grove on the bottom. LOL |

I do not believe that on the whole we are "taught" these things. What we learn in life is the exact opposite. We are exposed to a near infinite number of sensations, sights, sounds, feelings, emotions and so on everyday. We learn to take shortcuts. we NEED to take shortcuts. We lack the capacity to intellectualize the billions of sensory input signals we have everyday as people. Instead, we take shortcuts. We have learned to observe the behavior of others to determine what the correct behavior might be for ourselves. We see people looking up on the street, pointing to the sky in a panic, our own endorphins and addrenaline kicks in while anticipating the need for "fight or flight" and we look up as others did, expecting that there might be a threat. It's a very safe and normal behavior that will be correct 99.999% of the time. The risk of not doing so could be death. The risk of doing so is 0 (assuming your not placing yourself in danger while doing so). An "individualist" or "non-conformist" might very well be killed in this situation as he would be unprepared for what threat may come while he is standing there criticising people for being "sheeple" and smugly mocking their behavior. It's darwinism. It's millions of years of learning correct ways to behave in order to be ensure the survival of the organism. We stereotype people so that we don't have to spend and innordinate amount of time intellectualizing every situation, action, intention etc. those stereotypes are more often correct than not... or they would not exist and it would not be a common behavior. We have all learned to make assumptions enabling us to make decisions with less information and analysis, based on prior life experience or lessons learned. We do it because more often than not, it is effective and correct. People in general behave in a very conformist way, because as a general rule, its a safe way to behave. It is a behavior that has been tested for 15,000,000 to 20,000,000 years and has made the cut. Where would a rugged individualist zebra be if his individualist tendencies caused him to stand outside the herd or stray? How long would he survive? There is no such thing as individualism in society. Societies are about conformity. Conformity to ideas, ideology, religions, beliefs and behaviors. show me a "rugged individual" and i will show you thousands just like him. If i can't, then most likely he is not a part of society (hermit living in the mountains for example). It's that very conformity that is the glue that holds a society together. There are no individuals in the sense that people like to think there are. [Labret] is a great example of that. He chooses to see himself as being special and unique. He enjoys mocking people as being "sheeple", while ignoring his own similar behaviors and his conformity in similar ways. I could easily argue that he is every bit as unique as the other millions of rebellious, tattoo covered, angry, bitter young kids listening to angry music and liking to think they reject society in every way while believing they have it all figured out. The prison system is full of them... they are a dime a dozen. |

LOL
it's just a good example of left brain vs. right brain thinking. linear logic. thats why she excels in math and can have a more difficult time with an abstract idea like different types of locks and different types of keys. in a logical world, they would all be similar and work in the same way. it does not denote intelligence. it simply suggests that she percieves things different than most people. the good news is that she can train herself to use both hemispheres of her brain equally... whereas, a stupid person would have more trouble training themselves not to be stupid. |

I won't try to read and answer the replies to this one...
Instead, I'll add a question: Where do most people get their information? When you answer that question, you just might find the answer to the first one. |
