No Thongs or Midriffs Please, Say Schools

PARIS (Reuters) - French schools are cracking down on a craze among teenage girls to flash their midriffs and wear skimpy G-strings that peek brazenly out from above their low-cut trousers.

A number of head teachers in France -- where school uniforms are practically unheard of -- have slapped a ban on showing off thongs and tummies, the French daily Le Parisien said on Friday. "In the eyes of boys, thongs reduce girls to bottoms," former junior education minister Segolene Royal said.

"These adolescents are, sadly, a reflection of the society they are sold -- a society where women's bodies are shown off like vulgar merchandise," she told the newspaper.

Teenage girls the world over are sporting ever-lower hipster jeans, pierced navels and tattoos, and have been yanking up their barely-there thongs to show above their trousers.

How can one nation keep getting it wrong time and time again?!?!?! <_<

HarlotCash Dyker 10-07-2003 06:27 AM

The French are past masters at getting everything wrong - Practice makes perfect!

All you American France haters amuse me.

French culture makes American culture look terribly bland.

They have baguettes, you have Subway.
They have champagne, you have Budweiser.
They have pain au chocolat, you have doughnuts.
They have they Louvre, you have nothing that comes even close.

France is a beautiful country and the French are a passionate and cultured people. America has a lot to learn from the French.

Like how to lose/surrender/be invaded by everyone that they go to war against.

Or how to be the most ignorant fucks that walk the face of the earth....

Joe,
Turkey is more beautiful than France,
Thailand has richer history,
Uffizi has better Rennesance art collection and...
all those are NOT what makes the country.

People do...and you won't argue that Americans have spirit and zest for achievements second to none...

...and most of all,
is when country you describe is missing BACK BONE it once had,
this is really pathetic

Understandable.

You have the worst cuisine in the world and the French have the finest and you virtually live next door to each other.

If I were you I would hate them too.

I can talk food with you 'till cows come home and...
France has one of the WORST beef products in Europe,

2) my taste buds

I like the French Serge.

I had a French girlfriend once so I have an affinity for the French. I like that they aren't as obsequious as the English or us Australians who are far too keen to lick America's boot.

Sure the Parisians are rude and arrogant but France has the best wine in the world and the fois de gras is second to none. I love France and I'll be in Paris in early January after New Years in Amsterdam.

Who will meet me there for a beer?

Serge I have eaten French home cooking when I went to visit my French ex. Her mother was amazing - her cooking I mean. It was sensational. There is no comparison. I love French cooking.

Joe, I understand your fascination with French,
Russian aristocracy was in love with them too before the Revolution of 1917, despite the fact that they fought the war with Napoleon in 1812
;-))

but.....I see that as an inferiority complex,
and French do nothing to me...unlike Norwegians who
1) have great boobs and blonds
2) live average 87 years
3) have the best fish in the world

classic indeed, though the repeat it too much. Everytime they do I get hit on by someone telling me I look like her.

Here in the UK we have the French in a perfect place. We spend the afternoon there and enjoy all the wonderful things they have but come back home in time for bed and before their influence soaks in too much.
