BradShaw 08-22-2003 12:05 AM

Figured it was about time I took advantage of it. Anyone else buying a 6000lb car and using the tax write offs?

Anyone need a used navigator 2000 with bling wheels or a 2002 expedition eddie bauer? I am selling both and getting one new SUV. Laura wants a benz or bmw, so I guess I have to do some work.

Peaches 08-22-2003 12:10 AM

I know a lot of people (not in adult though) that are using that tax credit. I suspect it will be changed soon to close the loophole for the soccer mom's selling Mary Kay so take advantage of it while you can!

How much does a Cayenne weigh?

Can we include the weight of me and GonZo sitting in it?

Looks like it would just need ONE of you! :P

The intent of the law was for farm vehicles - I'm having a hard time thinking of the Cayenne as a farm vehicle. :awinky:

I just got an 04 Lexus RX330, love it..

don't know how much it weighs though

Escalade is the #1 stolen car last 3 years

Mike AI 08-22-2003 02:09 AM

Brad I recomend the Escalade.... and it's over 6k lbs

You can even put in an aftermarket gps system to catch theives if your car is jacked!

Winetalk.com 08-22-2003 05:34 AM

Brad,
don't do it,
just ain't worth it.

why do you wanna bother with few grands write offs?

will that help you?

I personally always beleived that one of the benefits of "big money" is the ability to pay taxes without ANY loopholes and sleep like a fuckin' baby!
;-)))

I did it, but I have a farm. All my trucks are farm vehicles, so my insurance is about half of what it would be otherwise. :salute:

Ah Hahahaha.... You got me there!

BradShaw 08-22-2003 11:21 AM

Mike, I rode in a new Escalade the other day and was dissapointed. Way too much plastic inside. Also, around here, mostly blacks drive them.

My Navigator is the best car I have ever owned, just time for a new one.

http://lincoln.com/images/20021-3_big.jpg

No plastic here.

mmmmmmmmmmm...... Probably available with OnStar............

sarettah 08-22-2003 11:26 AM

Just realized that my Avalanche is over 6000 pounds... Guess I'm gonna have to go research the tax thing........ or go buy a farm.......

:yowsa:

Mike AI 08-22-2003 12:41 PM

You're kidding me right Brad? The whole front part of new lincoln is plastic - the part the covers the stereo. I likethe Navigator, when I rent vehicles when I am out of town I always get them.

The bottom line for me is GM SUVs perform better then Ford SUVs driving wise.... Ford SUVs sway a lot more on the roads, and are very top heavy. The Navigator IS the best SUV ford makes and its not as bad as a others, but GM makes best full size SUVs in my opinion. That is why I have a suburban, tahoe and escalade. ( My parents have a suburban and a tahoe)

The funny thing is we used to be a "Ford" family.... I remember growing up we usually always had Fords when I was young.

gregtx 08-22-2003 04:25 PM

I had a 95 2 door 4x4 tahoe and a 2000 EB 4x4 expedition.. loved both of them...

but my "wifes" new Acura MDX has them both beat now... better ride, better climbing power up a mountain (and smoother).. and resale value is waaaaay better...

one draw back. i forgot to get the tow package.. so I have no idea how well it trailers something :-)

Mike AI 08-22-2003 04:29 PM

You cannot compare small luxury SUVs to large SUVs....

The smaller SUVs are more like facy cars, station wagos.... large SUVs are more like trucks.

Sammi with Insite has the Pilot - the Honda version of the MDX and I was VERY impressed with it! 7 seater, very smooth ride and seemingly put together a lot better than my EB Exploder - and it was several thousand less than mine. :(

I don't think it hits the 6000 pound weight though.

If you guys want resale value I have only one word. DIESEL!

I had a 2001 F350 crew cab 4x4 with the 7.3liter PSD. I paid 34,400 special ordered.

50,000 miles later with several dings and dents (i use my trucks), they gave me 28,000 trade in. Hell, I never washed the truck or cleaned the inside the whole time I had it until I traded.

Stepped into this truck for 35,500 and it will pull your house over.

Mike AI 08-22-2003 04:56 PM

Wig I am getting a similair truck to pull the trailer I just got.... I need 3500 Diesel Duely.... going with crew cab as well. A very nice rig. Should have it in soon. Of course I will not be driving it....

Mike, I agree with you on the SUV's and I like GM. But for heavy duty trucks and pulling power I would not go Chevy/GMC. Not sure I trust an aluminum head diesel.

I'm a Ford man when it comes to trucks, and if I could not have PSD I would go with a Cummins.

How big is the trailer you are pulling?

I was surprised we could pass each other. First time for everything. :D

Mike AI 08-22-2003 05:45 PM

I think its 25 feet long, and like 7 1/2 feet tall.

I bought a covered trailer to tow my toys inside of it. Needed something big enough to put my Escalade in.

My car guy loves the new diesel that Chevy put out. I do not know enough about them. I will suggest the ford to him.

BradShaw 08-22-2003 05:53 PM

Maybe I was wrong about the new navigator, I thought it was all brushed stainless. Going to look at a new one this weekend.

I used to be a big blinger.

The orignal Escalades were just fancy Tahoes....

Now they are made to be their own unique car.

I do not think you could go wrong with either vehicle!

Extreme John 08-22-2003 06:33 PM

The New Escalade Ext's are sweet, look carefully Brad when you go, many of the dealers around here have a Supercharged Ext they are selling for $100k, comes with an active ram air hood, sweet 22's holding it up and it's got a ton of balls.

Hey whats the credit for having a Truck over 6000lbs? I just bought another SUV, 2004 Expedition sits on 22's ofcourse, 3 DVD Zones, Xbox, Playstation 3, and every single zone of the truck can watch and hear whatever they want. :) I would love to hear about the write off :)

slavdogg 08-22-2003 06:36 PM

Playstation 3 ??

My bad I type like a bitch with a few fingers and one of the dumb ass's didnt listen and hit 3, Playstation 2 is what i meant, however once it's released it will have PS3 as well, I had it setup for 3 Zones so it could always handle another system, or computer.

Only pics I have online right now are of the truck being torn up, nothing was done the night I had the truck torn up (which happend to be about 1/2 hour after I picked it up).

http://www.extremepaychecks.com/extremetruck/

Ill take some of the finished project tommorow when it's light out and not raining like a bitch.

Mike AI 08-22-2003 06:57 PM

Definately want to see finished product!!

Notice the Fl plates... what part of Fl are you in?

Extreme John 08-22-2003 07:02 PM

Our office is in Clearwater, I live out in Palm Harbor (about 20 minutes from Tampa). Im originally from NY though moved here a few years ago.

Where are you located?

Mike AI 08-22-2003 07:17 PM

I am in New Orleans right now, but I have a place in Tampa.... in Cheval.

I will be spending more and more time there. I will be back in the area Sept 2nd... for 2 weeks or so.

Extreme John 08-22-2003 07:24 PM

Gimme a shout when you get into town we'll have to meet up throw a few back.

Mike,

The duramax will pull it fine. I'm sure that you will get what you want out of it. There is nothing like a diesel when you got a load behind ya. :D

Where do youy pull your escalade to?

btw.. take a weekend and cruise out to siesta key/longboat key area.. about an hour drive from Tampa... incredible powder sugar white beaches..

SweetT 08-22-2003 10:29 PM

Brad...

Do not listen to Mike....Navigator all the way! How long has Ford been making this SUV? (hint: anyone ever own a Bronco?) How long has Caddy been making the Escalade? (since the words bling bling entered our vocablulary)

If you *really* want to have some fun, get the new "Puff Daddy" edition of the Navigator....will hit the assembly lines in a few weeks.....of course it only comes in one color (my favorite :) but it is maxed out with monitors, play stations, dvd, huge stereo system...the works!

THEN, you will be bling blinging :)

Just got back from picking up a new 2003 navigator for $10k off sticker. I decided against the $5k bling bling wheels though.

Mike AI 08-22-2003 11:35 PM

T, I love the Navigator.... I drove a Bronco in HighSchool and loved it.... but GM makes better SUVs overall in my opinion. Less sway, and roll...

Brad congrats and enjoy, you need to hook up the rims though, better off getting them after market anyway, they do make 26's now.

http://www.dubspin.com/webad.jpg

The Shaolin's come out like next week, on the black mesh area behind them you can but anything you want, on it, I saw them in a show room here, pretty amazing looking rims.

Extreme John 08-22-2003 11:46 PM

Oh BTW, ofcourse they keep spinning when the truck stops. You need that shit.

Those of us that actually USE the 4WD in our SUV's in order to get around where we live would muddy those rims up so fast no one would ever see them. :awinky:

Then again.....does the spinning spin the mud off? B)

*KK* 08-22-2003 11:57 PM

If you're going diesel Michael, either go with the Ford or as little as I like Dodge, I'd still say do that -- at least Ford owns Cummins ;)

Common Brad you know you want that extra little spark back, that flare, the wind blowing through your spinners.

not to mention like Peaches said you can spin the mud off.

shawcutie 08-23-2003 08:32 AM

I tried to talk Bradley into getting the bling, bling. I was so proud of him when he said no! There will be enough bling, bling on my car for the family :gbounce:
