You know you're from Oklahoma if:
1. You can properly pronounce Eufaula, Gotebo, Okemah, Wetumka and Chickasha. 2 . You think that people who complain about the wind in their states are sissies. 3. A tornado warning siren is your signal to go out in the yard and look for a funnel. 4 Your idea of a traffic jam is ten cars waiting to pass a tractor on the highway. 5. You've ever had to switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day. 6. You know that the true value of a parking space is not determined by the distance to the door, but by the availability of shade. 7. Stores don't have bags; they have sacks. 8. You see people wear bib overalls at funerals. 9. You think everyone from a bigger city has an accent. 10. You use "fix" as a verb. Example: I am fixing to go to the store. 11. You know all four seasons: Almost Summer, Summer, Still Summer, and Christmas. 12. You measure distance in minutes. 13. You refer to the capital of Oklahoma as "The City". 14. It doesn't bother you to use an airport named for a man who died in an airplane crash. 15. You actually get these jokes and tell them to your friends. Finally, you are 100% Oklahoman if you have ever had this conversation:"You wanna coke?" "Yeah." "What kind?" "Dr. Pepper." Side Note: I will be out of town until Sunday. If you need anything please contact my sidekick Gabe at wegcash dot com! |
LOL! Several of those would fit in GA too! Especially the "coke" one! :okthumb:
|
I'm fixing decide if that was offensive lol
I definitely think anyone who bitches about storms or wind are sissies. |
As a "sissy" from California who only stuck it out in Lawton, OK for 2 years (when hubby was in the Army) - you are SO right! Wow...that brings back memories from when we lived there... Actually we got married on Ft. Sill - August 16th, 116 degrees and 200% humidity! lol
*sigh* Those were the days.... :D :inlove: :inlove: |
I'm from Missouri (rumor has it that Oklahoma is a suburb of Joplin, anyway :D), and now live in rural Illinois. I can relate to a lot of that myself, although I'll add that the only thing slower than a tractor is an Amish buggy. Also, these people don't want a coke, they want a "pop." It does not do any good to tell anyone "It's out by the cornfield" - because everything, including the bean fields, are out by the cornfields.
My girlfriend called from work a couple of weeks back to warn me that a funnel cloud had been sighted, and that I should take the dog and head for the basement. I put the dog in the basement and joined the rest of the town by going out in the back yard. |
I just wanted to post to show off my new avatar :)
I didn't get those jokes ;) |
I need a new avatar!!! Where did you get that?!
