Pro Choice and against the death penalty

What Colin said...
How can you vote for the last 2 if you stopped reading before you got to those options? Anyone voting for those is a liar! ;-) |

What does the death penalty have to do with the removal of an abcess from the womb anyway?
|
the governor of Illinois i felt, made some good points about the death penalty that i felt were pretty valid. not that i am against killing axe murderers... but there are a lot of inconsistencies in how the death penalty is applied. if we are going to make it an option to whack out the guilty party, the system should be a little more even handed... rather than leaving individual prosecutors with their personal issues, beliefs and opinions to play God... against people who usually cant afford a decent defense.

I would say I am very pro abortion philosophically and only somewhat anti-death penalty. If there were a sliding scale I would be:
100% pro-abortion (I have ZERO qualms with it) 55% anti-death penalty (Valid points either side I feel) I could care less about either to be moved one way or another on any legislation pertaining to it. You can legalize the death penalty everywhere or ban abortion and I really wouldn't care. Not important issues to me at all. |
I am pro-choice as I don't personally think that a 3 month old fetus is a child any more than an unfertilized egg is a child. IMHO, if someone's pregnant, and they consider the fetus IS a child, and they STILL abort, do we really want that person to be a parent? :zoinks: I also think that all the pro-lifers should spend their time/money adopting and raising unwanted BORN children if they're as pro-life as they claim they are.
I am pro-death penalty and I think that for those that the DNA shows they killed or raped someone, or if they admit it, there should be no appeals process. Zap 'em immediately upon conviction. :okthumb: |
I am Pro Choice since I am a man and won´t ever be pregnant, therefore I think that is a women´s decision.
I am against death penalty because I think for certain crimes life in prison is a worse punishment. |

You do what you want with your own body.

sarettah - you left out my choice
I don't have a uterus so I don't have a say and I'm all for frying death row bastards, hell I'll even pull the switch Roll on 2 If you saw the Green Mile you'll get Roll on 2 |
Pro Choice, anti- death penalty.....
|
My option isn't on there. I would have abortion only in cases of rape, incest, or life of the mother and I don't agree with the death penalty.
|
Vick, TE...
I ahd more choices, but the board limits it to 10, I had to pull off several of them :( |
No problemo. :okthumb:

I am not for abortion. I do however recognize that it is not my body or me that will have to live with what is often a 2 minute mistake for the rest of my life and very much support a women's right to choose.
I do not pretend to know when life begins. I do know that raising a child to adulthood or having to put a child up for adoption is an extremely severe punishment for the crime of giving in to passion. I do feel that late term abortons are wrong and should be disallowed. If the embryo can live outside the womb without life support, then that is too late for an abortion. Imo of course. I am very much against the death penalty. I feel very strongly that if even one innocent person dies then the system is wrong. Life imprisonment is a much harsher penalty (albight much more finacially expensive) than the death penalty and it affords a person the time to prove their innocence. |

But, shouldn't we differentiate between what our personal feelings about the acts are vs. whether the federal government should be involved in the first place? Also, if we dropped the pansy wansy way we deal with violent criminals, I'm sure we can turn them into money makers! I guaranty you if you gave me a hardened criminal with a twenty year sentence, I could get more work out of him than he would cost me to house and feed him. :biglaugh: |

I have no moral issue with abortion (which is not to say that I think it should be used as a method of birth control). Compared to leaving a newborn in a trash can, it's infinitely preferable. I saw a big ad on the side of the bus the other day: "No names, no blame, no shame" Touting a program here where any woman who has a baby she doesn't want can leave that baby at a hospital or fire station. This is in direct response to the number of "trash babies" that have been found in recent years. I can't help but remember the literal explosion in the number of children who grew up in orphanages and workhouses in Europe when the church opened their doors to any unwanted babies because they wanted to end the practice of exposure of infants by parents who couldn't afford them. Let's face it, most of the people beating the anti-abortion drum are not turning out in droves to adopt non-white babies with a high incidence of medical and psychological issues resulting from their mothers' drug and/or alcohol use. And in fact some of those people even employ extreme measures by taking fertility treatments and having multiple children (many with medical problems) and then tearfully waxing poetic in the media about their miracles of modern medical technology being some kind of gift from God. Meanwhile God's other gifts are destined to live in orphanages for a lifetime until and unless some truly noble couple takes them in, despite these children's misfortune of being born the wrong color. |
