A New York police source estimated more than 200,000 people participated in the march, which wound its way from Times Square down Broadway to Washington Square Park. Organizers of the rallies said well over 250,000 people attended.

About 2.5 hours into the march, some skirmishes broke out between police and demonstrators, and police chased some protesters through side streets. Some marchers said police used pepper spray against the demonstrators.

So far, there have been 17 arrests on charges that included resisting arrest, reckless endangerment and assault on an officer, police said.

At least two police officers were reported injured, but it was unclear how they were hurt.

More stupidity

"Portland, Ore., protesters smashed three windows at a McDonald's restaurant, set a flag on fire and sprayed graffiti on a sign at a Shell gas station. More than 135 people were arrested after police used pepper spray and explosives. A police spokesman said one cop was injured and received 10 stitches after a flying object hit him during a confrontation.

"I like the idea of shutting down commerce and the city to counteract Bush's economic motives for this war," said Eric Anholt, 19, of Portland"

Wonder who feeds, shelters and clothes Eric Anholt of Portland?
Bet it's not himself

Vick,

I was just looking at anti-war protest pics on msnbc.com and seen a pic
of a cop on fire from a gassoline bomb that a protester threw at him.

Its ironic, and very very sad that they are protesting for peace, but
then have rallies that end up almost always in violence.

ChickenShit Cockhosters, every Damn one of em.

I think that most of these people represent the worst of sheep in a society. they are not slaves of the media and propaganda or missinformation. they are slaves to their own emotions.

I have always felt that this is why organizations like Friends of the Earth, World Wildlife Fund, Sierra Club, GreenPeace and others can stand for what on the surface is a generally good and positive cause and fail to get significant support. People want to associate themselves with saving a forest or sea otter or feeding the hungry... they dont want to associate themselves with destruction, violence, bizzarre acts, equally bizzare baseless and factless propaganda as well as complete and the almost complete and total dissorganization that these groups often represent to achieve those ends.

it always seemed strange to me to claim to do something to draw attention to a cause... then at the same time show the people championing that cause, as dangerous and unpredictable morons.

The protest in Portland included someone climbing on top of Boneprone's car and jumping up on the roof while yelling shit.
Luckily a newspaper reporter was there and got a pic, they've got the picture and an article about it in the paper saying if anyone knows who it is to call the police.
BP's also got a reward out for finding out who the guy is... guess he dented up the Mercedes pretty bad.

in the mind of the irrational, "the ends, justifies the means" and it was all for a good cause of supporting Iraqi people. i am sure he is sitting in his apartment right now, playing his Nintendo with his 7 room mates, sharing a bong hit and cheap beer, listening to Jimmy Hindrix and patting himself on the back for his striking blow against the Imperialism of America.

of course if we withdrew troops, it would be quite ok to let them continue with their starvation, lack of medicine and 13.5% mortality rates for children under 5. they dont really seem to care about the details.

i guess we can be glad it did not say in Portland papers "Local Pornographer, "Boneprone" Mercedes Damaged".
