I think Bush did a good job with his speech. He hit all the right points. I like that he addressed the Iraqi people, and the Iraqi Military - telling them we don't have a issue with them, that if they do the right thing they will be spared. BUT if they do not, the "Just following orders" excuse will not follow!!
He also had a few backslaps to France.... |
Good speech, I was glad he stated that the UN has failed on the Iraq issue.
I have to wonder what the Iraqi people will actually hear, in the translation of Bush's speech?? I would bet by the time it is "translated" and broadcast to them, what they really heard was something like: "Iraqi's we hate you and will destroy you all, islamic scumbags. America hates allah and all muslims and will kill every one of you. Don't bother surrendering, we will kill you anyways." Or do Iraqi citizens have access to non government controlled media? |
I think Iraqis get something like Radio Free Europe and Radio Free Asia; and I believe I saw something in the news recently about the armed forces radio folks starting to beam stuff their way.
Also, some Arab networks like al-Jazera (sp) will broadcast it without editing it. |
I heard we had the cell phone numbers, and e-mail address' of every person in the Iraqi army over the rank of Captain. And we have been contacting them all. They have been getting some good feedback as well...
