I miss football season.
What sports teams did you grow up hating and why? |
I imagine that one always grows up hating their favorite teams primary rival.
I am a red sox fan - hated the yankees I am a Steelers fan - hated the cowboys I was a celtics fan - hated the lakers. |
Right now the teams I hate are the Falcons - always have hated them. Also the 49ers!
Basketball, I am anti-Lakers. I tend to like underdogs - could be because being a Saints fan we are always underdogs.... |
Now I dislike whom ever is playing the Ravens and all the other teams in the AFC North (sorry Ulfie, Forrest and MikeFold)
as a kid I hated the Yankees, Mets (for beating the Orioles in 69) and Reds - Orioles fan Last edited by Vick at Feb 27 2003, 02:10 PM |
I hate the football team of the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind. I went to a private Episcopalian school in Jax, Fl and we were NOT known for our athletic teams (except swimming) at the time. In fact, I'm not sure we won a game the whole 5 years I was there, but you don't know what defeat is until you've been beaten by the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind
|
The Boston Bruins.
But we eliminated them often, I almost pity them ;P |
I hate all basketball teams.
I hate the Flyers for not winning anymore. I hate the Eagles for getting so close. I hate the Phillies for obvious reasons. I live in Seattle and I hate the Mariners and the Seahawks. They have such potential, cool names....but no cojones and no trophies. I think I need therapy. My list is too long. |
so much hate
   dont hate. except you can hate circus clowns. i hate those fuckers. whats with the big feet, the funny nose and those dumb little cars. scary bastards, jumping around throwing shit and hitting each other with pies and honking those fucking horns? how did they all get into that car? those dipshits. if you are gonna hate... hate clowns. then when the clowns form an NBA team that sucks, you can hate them twice. When the clowns start playing good defense and getting more rebounds, you may have to reconsider though. Last edited by JR at Feb 27 2003, 01:22 PM |
I just had to chime in 'cause my team is doing AWESOME right now....
Of course I'm talking about HOCKEY!! (Hey, I'm Canadian...eh?) Just to remind folks, the Canucks are on a 14 game winning streak :nyanya: |
I am a St. Louis boy. I was probably 8 or 9 before I learned that the Baltimore baseball team were not "them fucking shitheads." My grandfather was a big fan of underdogs too - and when the Browns left St. Louis to go to Baltimore if made him a little angry.
First and foremost there is the rivalry that's hate but it ain't - the Cubs. I've never liked the Dodgers or Giants, either. I grew to hate the Mets because they were pond scum. I hate to admit I hate the Yankees, because they don't even play real baseball (designated hitter is a commie plot), but they are just so fuggin arrogant. Then there's the fuggin Blackhawks and Redwings. And speaking of exercises in futility, I grew up a football Cardinals fan. I quit following the Cardinals 3-4 years before they left down, but I've never lost my dislike of the Dallas Cowboys and the Redskins. |
let go of that anger PD.
just let it go. do you think the Blackhawks ever went home asking themselves "did we upset PD today... is he upset... should we call PD and work this out with him?" no. when you learn to let go of the anger, your life will change. but dont cut circus clowns any slack though. those bastards! |
damn yankees :grrr:
|
Dan I thought for sure you were going to say Auburn.... or any other team in the SEC!!
:rokk: |

I've always hated the Washington Huskies. Go Wazzu!

:grrr: I dont hate the ravens though just their owner and PITTSBURGH!!!! but thats to be expected being a Cleveland fan How's things ulfie? |
***subliminal message***
Canucks are on a 14 game winning streak!!! ***End subliminal message*** |
I hate any team that plays soccer.
|
Any team stupid enough to pay people millions of dollars to play baseball... nothing like watching whiney rich people playing a kids game.
Baseball exists only to give sports channels something to talk about between NASCAR races. Alex |

The Seahawks always managed to screw up the spread with their F&*(&'in half point. They've got a coach who should have stayed in Green Bay. He can't do shit in Seattle. The Mariners have given up more World Series chances.....it's painful to discuss. I love this adopted city of mine; but, it's like living in Philly, with the Phillies and the Eagles....oy...they kill me. :) |
hate the Phillies? You know the payout is great when they eventually don't suck for a year. Can't hate them, Harry Kalas is part of my blood.
I hate Manchester United and Sunderland. |
In football.
I hate all teams in the NLF except my beloved Chicago Bears. Baseball...I hate every team in MLB except my beloved Chicago Cubs. Basketball..I hate all teams in the NBA except my Pacers. In College basketball....I hate every team except my Indiana Hoosiers. Any questions? :moon: |
Carolina, Kansas, Indiana in college hoops... Duke fan.
Cowboys and Jets in football... Dolphins fan (grew up disliking Dallas because I liked the Broncos too for awhile). Knicks... hoodlums, what else is there to say? Florida in college football... once FSU came into the ACC and Steve Spurrier started coaching at Fla. |
Alex, will you be dancing in the streets when Expos leave Montreal ?
or have they left already ? |

Hmmmmmmmm............ i don't hate too many teams. Dolphins. Bucs I don't like either, orange uniforms always made me sick. I don't like the Atlanta Braves franchise but the guys who play for them are good guys so i can't not like them, Tom Glavine is probably my favorite pro athlete, smart, talented, and knows chicks love the long ball.
Most pathetic franchise in all sports, the Atlanta Hawks of the NBA. |
1 Cleveland Browns
2 Baltimore Ravens 3 Dallas Cowboys All other sports are irrelelavant. ;) |

How can you hate the Ravens :P he he he and yes all other attempts at athletic endeavors just can't measure up to football |

Expos pulled in 25k people for weekend games, 10k-14k during the week, pretty darn good numbers. Last year, most of the weekday games (unless there was some major promotion) would pull about 3k people... weekend games maybe 10k. Expos could disappear, and the only people that would really miss them would be the sportscasters with nothing to yap about all summer. Other than that, no biggie. Baseball is the worst of the worst when it comes to overpriced babies (and moronic team owners) - paying a player 25 million a year to play ball is just not very logicial (think about it... team gets, what, 90 home games? At $50 per ticket, it takes about 6000 people per game to pay for this guy to play... that is a SINGLE player... it's stunning in it's stupidity!). Alex |
Today I'm hating St Johns.
|
Being a longtime Braves fan, I'm supposed to hate the Mets (which I do) but now they have a couple of my favorite players (Tom Galvine, Roberto Alomar), so I can't hate them as much as I should......
I am probably one of the few who doesn't understand the problem with athletes making the kind of money they do. Shouldn't the best be paid the best? It's only a very very tiny % whoever make a decent living. For every guy making $1 million per year or more, there are thousands of players working their way through the minors and working day jobs...there are guys who will never make anything worthwhile. Who should be the wealthiest people in America? Athletes? Movie stars? Musicians? Ditch Diggers? Fry Shufflers? The comedy/tragedy of baseball isn't just crybaby millionaire players, it's crybaby BILLIONAIRE owners who've made money in most every venture they pursue, but can't seem to turn a dime in baseball. They are the ones signing these contracts. No one forced the owner of the Rangers to sign A-Rod to a $25M per year contract. I tell you what though, without A-Rod in the lineup the last few years, what would the attendence be at Rangers games? He puts asses in seats and THAT'S what counts. barry Bonds in the same way. The people coming to boo him pay the same price for tickets as those who come to cheer him. It's all about asses in seats. |

I have a feeling that with the economy down, and the corporations no longer buying the million dollar skyboxes and taking their clients to the games, and the family of four no longer being able to afford $200 for a night at the ballpark (we stopped buying season tickets last year), MLB is going to see a backlash soon. |
I miss the NFL very badly. Can't stand the Raiders... other than that, I like every other team. Also, pro baseball is boring. I grew up as a Yanks fan but can;t sit through it anymore. I love watching the kids play though. My son's tee-ball team kicks ass! Mitch |
Sadly, i feel there is still too much hate here. I promise to you all that if you vote for me, I will stop the hatred and unite all sports and fans.
Thats why i pledge to you, that as your next President, the first thing i will do is to stop the hatred by combining all sports into one united game called Baskefoothockeyball. There will be only one team, it will have a pleasant and neutral name. The mascot probably be an old tire (its the only thing i could think of that might not offend *someone*). Regardless of talent, ability, race, creed, color, height, build or speed, any Baskefoothockeyball player will be able to play any position, as each position will be no more or less prestigious than the others and require no greater or lesser talent or skill. There will be a flat salary for all players. The seasons will be all year long. Finally, there will be no scores. Though its important to build the self esteem of the players, its equally important or more important to build the self esteem of the fans. vote for me vote against hatred Last edited by JR at Mar 3 2003, 03:15 AM |

I am and always will be a fan of the game itself. People who complain it's boring tend to prefer "faster paced" sports, but baseball has never been a fast paced sport, it's a process of swap/counter swap..almost like a chess game with each manager and player changing strategy depending upon the given situation. I'm aware of the coming backlash coming in baseball and it's been a long time coming. It's amazing to see the talent that is still without a contract with spring training underway and the season starting in less than a month. |
i hate cheeseheads
cuz we all know happy cheese comes from happy cows and happy cows come from California |
