-   -   We Got An Offer For A Domain. Should We Sell? (http://www.oprano.com/msgboard/showthread.php?t=28994)

Danielle 02-21-2003 03:09 AM

We got an offer today for one of our domain names. The domain is...

gogolfcourses.com

The offer was $1,000.00

Our plans where to create a golf course directory with it. Currently the site has nothing on it. It is just parked.

Should we sell it? Should we counter offer with a larger price?

Anyone know the URL to webfathers domain board. I lost it.

Hugs,
Danielle

Danielle:

For a grand on that particular domain I'd say sell... If you are worried
about loosing it then do a 4-10 year lease on the domain name for the
$1000... Besides, a grand will get you 1300 or so DirectNIC Dollars for
buying even more domains... Right Mike?

Sincerely,

take the money danielle, and spend $15 of it on a similar domain ... you won't get the offer a 2nd time ;-)

slavdogg 02-21-2003 05:21 AM

Danielle, nothing special about that domain.
i would try to bargain up and see how much you can push them.

you can always find another generic domain for a golf site. There is some decent money to be made there selling golf vacations and stuff.

Agreed. It's not a typein domain, and not particularily valuable to anyone....except your buyer. :awinky:

Take advantage of it and sell.....and do what others have said, buy a similar one with the money and you'll still have your directory. :)

T-Rav 02-21-2003 01:28 PM

you know what they say, "buy low and sell high".

this is a prime example...sell that bastard...

it is a good idea to see if you can get more out of them...but if it comes right down to it, $1000 is a good deal on that domain.

I would definately sell... take the money and run.

Warrior Custom Golf is doing LOTS of business just selling clubs. Golf's big business!

I registered webmastergolf.com -- not that I know what the fuck I'd ever do with it!

I'd sell it, Danielle... take the money & run!!!

i would test a counter offer (say 2K)
if they balk, or go to 1.5 sell

1000 is a good number for that name...

take the money and invest them in
http://danspitz.com !

Wizzo 02-25-2003 09:03 AM

I would counter at 1500, but if they aren't willing I would deffanately sell it for 1000....

Bama 02-25-2003 01:14 PM

Tell em' nahh and hold onto it but tell them you know someone that owns golfware.com who might be willing to sell that domain

Brad Mitchell 02-25-2003 04:12 PM

Don't listen to anyone, sell it fast. Domains are worth shit and buyers are hard to find. Unless the domain has traffic, it's got little intrinsic value since it's not primo.

I can't believe there are still idiots out there who think the domain fairy
is going to visit them and make them rich for owning some domain name. Not talking about good typein domains or ones that have obvious potential for somebody in the future to pay big money for them. I'm talking about adult names that are good but nothing special. I have two that I want - cuz they fit what i'm doing - first one i offered 1,500 bucks and the guy rejected it and he won't even answer an email now. Second one i can't even get a reply. I would bet huge money that neither domain is ever sold for more than $250.
