http://www.dpicorp.com/ From CNN news: http://money.cnn.com/2003/02/18/technology...cards/index.htm |
Now sit back and watch the news spread to every adult board as people read it on Oprano & Netpond and post it everywhere else. :P

"" The Visa and MasterCard accounts affected make up almost 1 percent of the 574 million Visa and MasterCard accounts in the United States. ""
that is GREAT :cdance: :bjump: there is at least one credit card for every mom, dad, child, new born, dog, cat, monkey, ventriloquist in US :D :D |
Slav -- I have heard -- not seen in writing tho -- that they are the gateway for Providian... somewhere around 850 million a year.
Dunno for sure how accurate that is -- |
So I assume that the cards didn't necessarily have to ever have been used on the internet to be compromised? Cards that had actually been swiped at a merchant store somewhere were in the database that was hacked, not just cards collected on the net? That's what it is sounding like to me.
That distinction needs to be made, because the way the news pushes it makes it sound like another case of cards used on the internet getting swiped, but if their DB of card transaction on and offline are merged and that is what was hacked, then a person is no more safe from this hack by having used their card at their local gas station. |
