What is a "sexual arousal assessment"?

You will be asked to watch a series of commercially available film clips, some of which will be sexually explicit, while we monitor your body's sexual arousal. In between the film clips, you will complete a short questionnaire.

Measuring sexual arousal is done with an probe called a vaginal photoplethysmograph or Geer gauge. To see a photo of the probe, click here. The probe is about the size of a tampon and is made of acrylic plastic. You would insert this probe into your vagina and it would remain there while you watch the film clips. LOL, a guy I used to date just sent this to me - his comment was that they wouldn't have had to pay if they had used guys. I told him the guys would have been willing to pay enough to fund the entire project :)

I would have loved to been in the meeting where they pitched the project idea. Better yet the design meeting when they decided what the tampon-like thingie should look like.

I saw a show the other night about masturbation. There was a 'study group' of women who were there to 'learn how to masturbate' without guilt and all the other faux pas associated with women who masturbate.

I almost shit when I saw them (6 or 7 of them) masturbating..all in the same room, all together.

They also had test subjects who inserted a camera into their vagina and then masturbated. This of course, was for 'study purposes'.

It's amazing what the government will spend their money on....

and I thank them very deeply ... they are saving me a whole bunch of research of my own ;-)))
