The chairman of the department for the struggle against high-tech crimes of the Moscow Central Directorate for Internal Affairs, Lieutenant Colonel Dmitry Chepchugov, has recently released a statement about pornsites. Dmitry Chepchugov stated that the income earned from pornsites is being used to fund extremist and terrorist organizations. The lieutenant colonel mentioned that up to 75% of all kiddie porn is distributed on the Internet. About 90% of Interpol?fs international searches dealing with computer crimes are devoted to this issue. Chepchugov also said that the income earned from porn sales is a considerable part of the black market. In addition, much of this income is used to fund both conventional criminal and terrorist activities. Each child pornsite brings in about $30 thousand in illegal income each month, according to the RIA Novosti news agency The department for the struggle against high-tech crimes has investigated over three thousand websites since March of the current year. Fourteen criminal cases have been filed as a result In addition, Dmitry Chepchugov stated that all Wahhabism sites have been shut down in Russia. The Canada-registered Kavkaz-Center, a site for Chechen terrorists, is one of them. The site was providing informational support to Chechen terrorists during the hostage crisis in Moscow. The site was shut down after an inquiry from the Russian Foreign Ministry. As a matter of fact, as soon as a Chechen terrorist site is found, information is reported to the Foreign Ministry immediately. After that, the ministry sends a letter to the territory on which the site was registered. As far as the porn business is concerned, PRAVDA.Ru has already published an article called ?gInternet Cash Cow: Slaughter Time.?h The story referred to in an article on WorldNetDaily site, which reported the latest initiatives of the Americans. Below is a small excerpt from the article. Morality in Media Inc., as reported by the WorldNetDaily article quoted above, ?ghas launched a new websitehttp://ObscenityCrimes.org, where Net users can file reports against possible obscenity-law violators?c Visitors to MIM's new site can also find a mail-in form to report any possible off-line obscenity violators like ?gadult?h book or video stores. Links are provided on the site to report child pornography to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and a petition is available to sign for those who want to express their support for obscenity law enforcement. ObscenityCrimes.org also explains why there is no First Amendment protection for obscene materials.?h ?gEvery citizen concerned about the explosion of obscenity on the Internet,?h „Ÿ says the president of MIM Robert Peters, „Ÿ ?gshould bookmark ObscenityCrimes.org on his Web browser.?h Then, at least, the administration would not be able to cite the lack of public concern about the issue. Our heartfelt desire is that the Russians follow this example of citizen?fs action and prompt the Government to harsh measures against porn dealers and other figures of loathsome business. |

Did anyone catch 60 minutes last night? In Africa a small village, the KING steals a 16 year old girl from school to make her his 10th wife. I'm teaming up with Darth Vader and forming a glactic army and start blowing this shit up. :gbounce: |
enviroment? :rolleyes
Mine's just fine, thanks. |

Reminds me of a documentary I saw in India (I think?) where a girl was raped by her fathers friend and was therefore no longer 'pure' enough to be married off. She was to be stoned in the town square. She ran away and was taken in by a 'hidden' sanctuary for women in India, where they interviewed her and the women who run the sanctuary...very interesting, and sad. Re: Environment How can you say 'your' environment is fine? It is common knowledge (and proven) that pollution and the raping of our resources is putting us into a downhill spiral. You won't find me hugging trees, and I'm no 'environmentalist', but I recognize that this is an issue and needs to be acknowledged and dealt with.... |
I actually know of secret societies of women around the world. Maybe not such a secret any more.
My name actually came from a dream-meditation over 15 years ago. I had dreams of a temple. Women dancing naked. There’s a lot more. Anyhow the name Vesta kept coming in my vision. I didn’t understand it. I didn’t have access to many books much less internet. I did discover the asteroid Vesta that was discovered during the feminist movement. That floored me but nothing sent sensation through my body as when I learned of the Temple of Vesta and saw pictures of it. This is all years later after using the name. Then again it was in our not so distant past that we treated women like second class citizens and slaves. Those things we’re talked about. Times are changing. Thankfully. |
Well, I believe Vesta is a Roman Goddess of fire or 'the hearth'....Hestia is the Greek equivalent. :)
And of course Diane/Dianna/Diana is a Moon Goddess....interesting combination really...hehe |

Pick an environmental area in particular that you think is "not fine". Please don't quote Al Gore's book ;-) Just to start with, your usage of the phrase "raping our resources" denotes an emotional attachment to particular philosophies but I'm "open minded." Whatcha got? My favorite is climate. Are you a global warming proponent (1980s) or global cooling (1970s)? Always an interesting choice. Personally, global warming would mean my Colorado property will one day be sea side and increase in value. Of course, Canada will become North America's new breadbasket. Personally, I think most of the US [where I live] is much too cold. |

Just curious. Let's explore the term 'common knowledge'. The following have been reported from all around the world: - rising oceans - air pollution (ever hear those elderly and small children warnings?) - lack of land fill space - poisoning of land and water due to industrial companies lack of responsibility (try fishing near the Pickering Nuclear Power Plant in Ontario) - animals infiltrating urban areas (I have a bear in my area right now) I don't just read about these things....I have seen every one of them with my own eyes. It's not a matter of 'do these issues really exist?', the question is 'WHY do they exist?' Is it a result of human progression and carelessness? and 'Are the grim visions of the future valid?' I don't know, but I can't question that the effects are very real....I can't dismiss what I see with my own eyes. IMO, you are just blind if you don't see at least SOME of these effects, whether you believe they are the result of human carelessness or not. Last edited by gigi at Dec 5 2002, 08:47 PM |
Gigi,
"Human progress" has and WILL effect the environment. No doubt. The question is whether we need to hurry up and route the terrorists and then move onto environmental isses because they are so important. I think, in general, that the world has been doing a great and balanced job as regards environmental issues - that is, one that balances human needs for economy and progression with that of conservation and environment. In the industrialized world, SO2, O3, NO, and CO emissions are down. Air quality in industrial countries is better today than it was in our industrial past. Consider the history of the "London Fog". In the US, emissions are down even though the number of car miles driven has doubled. The World Bank has concluded that as the western world was better able to afford to pay for a cleaner enrivonment, it has. I find the modern environmentalists especially the organized groups such as Green Peace to be irresponsibly alarmist. Every statement from them is about disaster, doom, and gloom. They want to scare people and they have. When you start talking about sea levels rising and destroying South Beach or New York city being under water you are being irresponsible. These doom and gloom predictions come from numerical simulations of various factors upon each other and the Earth. Numerical simulations are only as good as the model and data themselves and there are way too many variables and discluded effects for these models to have any validity whatsoever. They are dealing with systems even more complicated than the stock markets and researchers have not had any success at all at modeling markets from the input data. Such models certainly cannot predict with any certainty whatsoever the complicated and huge open system we call home, Mother Earth. We are only at the very beginning of our climatological predictive abilities. The National Hurricane Center, here in Coral Gables, has been making 5 day predictions on storms in private and has announced that in the near future they will begin to make these predictions public. That is where we are. 5 days. Even in that case, the average error in just a 12 hour prediction is over 40 miles and in a 3 day prediction and over 200 miles in the median model of those used by the NHC. Want to discuss the error involved in climatological predictions at 50 years? Chaos, the imperfect modeling that results from imperfect data renders all long-term predictions at this time to no more than intellectual curiosities at the dawn of time. I think in reality, from a knowledge point of view, we have a very limited understanding of what long-term negative impact humans may or many not be having on the globe. We have done an excellent job already in continuing with a moderate and balanced approach. As far as the bears, get a gun. Last edited by Colin at Dec 6 2002, 06:14 AM |
I agree with almost everything you say Colin.

Well, you don't have to be so agreeable. What will we talk about?
Curious. What effects do you see right now? What is in YOUR backyard? |
