For many of us that read the board and are so passionate about our teams today really put things into perspective. The Steelers QB, Tommy Maddox, was having a dream season up until today. 2 years ago he was selling insurance and today he was leading the team favored by many to win the Super Bowl at the beginning of the year.

In the second half he suffered what looked like a rather innocent hit but his head went straight into the ground where he laid motionless for the next 15 minutes. He could not feel or move nothing. An ambulance was brought on to the field and he was transported to a local hospital. Early reports say xrays were negative and that he is regaining feeling in his upper body and sensing pain in his legs which the doctors say is a good sign. Preliminary reports are a spinal contusion. Hopefully he will be ok but it is too soon to say.

As Mutt's pickem audio says, "football is a rough game and often a creul one..." The key word being "game", sometimes we take the game a lot more seriously than we should.

I've been quite heartened to hear that, so far, all the preliminary signs point to a full recovery. Here's to a speedy and full recovery for Tommy Maddox.

Ulfie,

Well said, However, for most NFL players, football is all they have,
and they do take it serious, and often, to serious as you mentioned.

Maddox was having a great game today, and I think the hit on
him was negligent.

Tough day for quarterbacks.
McNabb with a broken ankle. Brutal pics if you havent seen them.

Voodooman, I was watching the game and am a partisan fan I didn't think it was a cheap shot.

More good news...he now has movement in all his limbs so hopefully he will have a full recovery. :D

I just seen highlights of the game, just looked late to me.

Did the ref throw a flag on that play?

no flag. Looks late in slo-mo but it wasn't.
