Old school: Galaga.
New school: Halo, Morrowind, Civilization, Madden Football. Your school? |
Fond memories of Joust, Defender, and PacMan. I never dug Ms. Pac-man that much. Guess it's in the name. Ms. PacMan is making a comeback at arcades/sports complexes packaged with Galaga. Both games in one.
I go to Dave and Buster's and play games once a week or so. |
old school: Tempest, Spy Hunter, Centipede, Battletank, Red Baron, Star Wars
new school: Morrowind, Morrowind, Fallout series, Arcanum, Hitman series, Max Payne (noticing a trend?) :awinky: :eninja: |
Edd- did you play Morrowind all the way through? Loved it. I was sad when it was over. I might do it again. Did you become a vampire?
I am going to get Hitman next I think. Tempest was cool. Game I never liked. Tron. |
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3
|
Colin - I'm still playing it - not done yet! And no vampirism for me - You playing PC like me or XBOX? I've been tinkering around in the mod community for the PC version - got a little sidetracked from playing by modding the game, but since I got the Tribunal expansion last saturday I've started playing again! I've spent ENTIRE saturdays in front of my gamebox at home! Its the SHIT! :rokk:
And man, do I WISH New Orleans had a Dave&Busters! :( |
Centipede! I even went so far as to buy a table top bar model :P The 1st player side broke and it was heavy as crap, so I gave it away - but at the GameWorks party in Vegas, you'll always find me at the Centipede machine.
I also like Galaga for standing/sitting video, Tetris for handheld and there was some bunny game that was a hoot for Super Nintendo or PS that was really fun :D |
old skool: X-com, X-com and X-com! (UFO Defender for you fruity foreigners ;) also: eyes of the beholder, Lands of Lore, Master of Magic, Star Control 2, Aces of the Pacific, X-29 Retaliator (i.e. Retal), Doom, Rise of Triad, Duke Nukem 3D...
currently: Tony Hawk Pro Skater3 (im the master of that game), Madden, BattleField 1942 I also got the Doom3 leaked alpha demo... looks reaaal nice... |
Xbox. I like the illusion of getting away from my computer for a few hours.
Peaches, cool on the centipede. I might get a standup Galaga. |

I played SO much Doom and Duke and Hexen and Blood and ROT back in the mid 90's - I mean literally HUNDREDS of hours.... A buddy of mine owned a comic book shop that I lived behind... We setup a LAN and charged kids by the hour to play... Since I was their Network Technician I played for free - Old school lan parties back in the day! We got so good at Doom we had to change the configs to make it harder for us to play! Ah, those were the days! :cryin: |
Screw video games, give me pinball.
:bdance: :bdance: |
Quote:
Have you seen the "latest" version of doom? Doom Legacy I think its called... they added a ton of shit, we used to play in a networking class because they would only give us shitty 486s... but best game of all time is XCom, no two ways about it. |
Centipede a definite classic.
i haven't played a video game since the end of the 32 bit era. I had HUNDREDS of 32 bit games. Things have gotten too sophisticated, i liked them the way they were. Damn i can smell the two arcades i used to hang out in now just thinking of Centipede and Defender. My best friend owned one of the arcades, about 20 machines, we'd kick everybody out at about 1 AM. We would play throught the night until dawn. Chex hockey, Galaga, Tempest, Centipede man he made some good money for awhile, he was only 18. the arcade games were expensive, from 3,000 to 5,000 a game brand new. He could pay off a game in a few months, the rest was gravy. Fuckers did break down a lot though. Chex hockey was really poorly engineered the players would constantly break. |
Anyone else have one of those handheld football games as a kid with the little LED lights to represent players?
How about the ones that vibrated and the players moved pretty much at random on the field? I have a Bucs-Packers one. :-) |
Old school: Space Invaders, Galaga, Tetris, and Super Mario for SNES
New School: Any Resident Evil game, Descent, Civilization III (computer), and Everquest. I love Everquest. I've had it for about two months or so now and play it as much as I can. Ususally for about 2 hours before I go to bed!! :) |

I got Mike one for christmas last year and bought one for myself! |

I got Mike one for christmas last year and bought one for myself![/b][/quote] Oh God, I played those handheld baseball and football games ALL the time too! Got em for Christmas from my parents and played em like crazy!! I wish I still had em. Elegantly simple but GREAT fun!! Considering how much I liked those it surprises me that I never really got into playing on any of the Gameboy handhelds. |

OK, how many of you are old enough to have had Pong when it first came out? We got it and thought it was the greatest thing in the world :D Then Atari came out and it had COLORS! And Tank - it cracks me up to remember how incredibly slow those things were B) And then when PC started coming out, there were the RPG's that were all in writing - no pictures: "And now you're coming to a hill......." But my favorite RPG was Leisure Suit Larry - my son even downloaded all of them and he still plays them. The new ones are better graphically but nothing beats the first one :inlove: |

Looked and they don't have the same football handheld I had. Was a bit different than the one you have there.

I played Red Baron, Sim City, the super-fun Cinemaware sports games. Battle Tank, Tie Fighter, Stunts. New stuff it's definitely Hitman. I played Fallout but never beat it, I still have Arcanum installed, Max Payne I did beat. For online games The Sims Online is surprisingly fun (if I have no life why not play one online!) and BF1942 / CounterStrike are my mainstays of FPS games. Lately just Yahoo! pool though, been working too much. :awinky: C. |
Woo Hoo!! I found it!!!!
Electronic Quarterback by Coleco!!! Man that was fun!!! I just might consider buying both of those old games again!! B) |

Morrowind is the only one I've not finished - I've got ton of others I've played as well.... Plus I'm an AVID beta-tester.... so I see a LOT of stuff before it hits the streets... :eninja: :bdance: TE - you'd be suprised what you could find on ebay... |
Anybody else here play Everquest? Edd??
I read all sorts of Fantasy books like the Dragonlance series, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Terry Brooks Shanarra Series, and Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series. If you like fantasy at all it is QUITE fun. Nothing like getting a group together and tackling a dungeon of undead or goblins, orcs, etc. Plenty of opp to solo as well! I bought all of the expansions even though I don't use some yet because my characters aren't high enough level. Though they do have benefits as travel is WAY easier with the latest POP expansion. Can play good or evil characters and it makes a big difference on how you play and where you can go. Just a blast and I imagine if you like fantasy games like Morrowwind you would LOVE Everquest. |
TE, I played EQ, AO, AC, DAoC, NWN, and the newer space one Earth & Beyond. Don't play any MMORPGs at the moment because they consume such an unreasonable amount of time in one long stretch. As my posting on here shows I do not work huge blocks of time, but I work consistently with breaks and interruptions. I'd get lost in those games and not come up for air, and my business showed it.
C. |
I just make sure I set a certain time for me to play each day. I usually work until midnight and then at midnight I'll play EQ for about 1-3 hours and then head off to bed. I have a had a few nights where I ended up staying up til 6 or 7 am playing though!! :zoinks:
|
BTW- what type of characters did you like to play on EQ? (never played any of the others) My favorite has got to be my Shadow Knight with a Druid I recently starteed a close second.
|
I should set you up with my ex girlfriend she always bugs me to play but I never have the time.
I played everything, I had a high level thief, shaman, and shadowknight. I preferred playing more quirky classes, but never really got anywhere with them. I played a lot of pencil and paper when I was a kid, and I always picked characters who relied on one or two proficiences to get by. I roleplayed more than I rolled, and had a blast. Overactive imagination perhaps. C. |
Cal - I betatested AC and E&B! You're bang on about MMORPG's - they just EAT your time!
TE - never got into EQ - it turned into a "chatroom" too quickly for me - I was more into total immersion - so it was distracting to have characters come up to you and ask if you saw "South Park" last night.... I HATE gaming with 14 year olds - thats the main reason why I don't play things like Counterstrike or Everquest. :grrr: |
Hmmm.....
I haven't had that problem at all Edd. I try and find people to group up with right away when I get on now with higher level characters and haven't had any problems like that at all. I just seem more eager to try and tackle dungeons where a lot of people seem to want to attack Orc camps and such more cause it is safer. Hehe.. we could always start an Oprano guild!! :rokk: |
ARS has a CounterStrike clan and their own server. And Marc De now heads a video game company making up some sort of tribal warfare RTS game. Looks neat insofar as you issue commands to other players and they can decide whether to accept/ignore them. One commander in StarCraft mode, a bunch of players as footsoldiers, support for supposedly up to 64 players.
However the gfx are weak, so I'm not sure the game will be a huge hit. But if you've got the money... C. |
Cal,
I've got a levl 15 Human Shadow Knight, level 10 Halfling Rogue, level 5 Halfling Druid. Gonna start a Barbarian Shaman, Dark Elf Magician, and Iksar Necromancer. |
Heheh... that's cool thast ARS has that.
|
I'm embarassed now to say what levels my characters were. I wasted soooo much time on that game when I started playing it.
Frankly in a game like EQ (though from what I saw they FINALLY made it easier to level up) buying characters is sometimes easier. eBay is your friend! DAoC was one of the games to support open sale of character accounts, and it worked pretty well. That game is all about PvP combat, though it is controlled and quite fun, so they figured what harm did it do to let the players sell off their accounts; if you're not using it someone else may want to! C. |
Well if I KNEW I could be playing with cool peeps I might be down for playing an MMORPG! :awinky: - the only one i'm taken with at the moment is Neocron - sci-fi/dark future theme - I played the offline demo and its nice! :zoinks: I guess EQ might have "cycled back" into what it was supposed to be once all the "trash" got filtered out!
I've been working on morrowind mods in my spare time for the most part - that game, like its predecessor Daggerfall - can keep me playing for YEARS! |
Ack NEOCRON? That game gave me a headache with the graphics. I played it for a few days, but killing rats with my psi powers got real old real fast.
I liked AO when it first came out, despite the bugs, and the graphics were absolutely stunning. Neocron I found repetitive, the people abrasive, and the gameplay just as limited as AO 'questing' but without any nice vistas. But if it's better now let me know, I gave up on E&B also. I haven't even beaten Hitman 2 yet and it was probably the most anticipated video game in my lifetime (for me.) Damn my attention span. It keeps reverting me back to money. C. |
I've usually had a pretty easy time finding decent people to group up with in Everquest. Encountered a few, but not many, idiots but that will happen on any online game. I need to get a new graphics card though cause some areas like The Bazaar where all the trading and stuff happens my graphics card just can't handle it.

I wonder how cheap EQ is selling for now... :) Too many games, too little time! |
Whew...good to know I'm the only one that hasn't grown up and still loves games. Spent a fortune in quarters when all the video games came out, and for years would sneak away to arcades while I was supposed to be working.
Computer games now are really awesome. Civilization kept me going for awhile until it became to easy... But my newest hook is a new version of a game that came out ten years ago....Wolfenstein. Remember how good it was when it first came out...new version is mind boggling. |
The original Everquest sells for $9.95 stand alone in the bargain games.
I got the original plus two expansions for about $30 two months ago in a package and then recently bought the Shadows of Luclin and Planes of Power expansions for $30 a piece. Everquest Trilogy for $29.99 Shadows Of Luclin expansion for $29.99 Planes of Power expansion for $25.99 Everquest Atlas- Book with maps and accompaying information of all the zones in the game for $19.99 (VERY handy to have!) Everquest Gold Package which includes all expansions plus maps (diferent from listed above) and user and strategy guide and more for $64.99 |

EQ is cheap, I think the original CD is about $10. But then you have to buy Kunark, Velious, Luclin, and Planes of Power. Get out your platinum card! C. |
The great thing about having the new planes of Power expansion is that even though it's primarily for high level characters only in terms of quests and monsters and such it has one feature that makes it worthwhile even for low level characters. It has a gating system which allows you to explore the continents MUCH easier. No more running through a bunch of zones praying you can get to your corpse without getting killed!! Each city has a "gate" close by that allows you to travel to a central "neutral" places you can travel easier. So the wizard and druid portals and gate spells take on less importance for people with the expansion.
|
Thanks for the info guys - are you trying to drop some hints or something?
Yipes! I just bought Tribunal for Morrowind - I don't know if I can handle more games! And I don't know HOW I forgot to mention Deus Ex before! :woo: I love that game! Anyone remember the first graphic MMORPG - meridian 59? Things have come a long way! :rokk: |
My first PC game addiction was 'Thief' (Damn Taffers!);
Loved Max Payne; Currently playing QUAKE III (STILL); Old School: Nintendo - Zelda, Metroid; :) |
|
Lvl 60 clerics and chanters used to go for upwards of a grand, you may still be able to find some in that range.
www.playerauctions.com My shammy is 53 but not worth much cause I'm on Tallon Zek (PvP Teams) and my thief is 52, not a super desirable class at high levels, unless you're 60 with a RB. The high level game is fun and those characters can get you into it for cheap without a year of playtime, but some people love the leveling at low-mid levels the best. I can tell you exactly where to hunt from level 1-50 if you want to take some of the mystery out of it. :awinky: C. |
Hmmm..... some good hints would be MOST welcome but I don't wanna ruin TOO much. Know what I mean?
