[Labret] - I take serious offensive with your US flag burning avatar
Now you may be trying to express something or making some statement I don't get While I respect your right to burn the US flag I also reserve the right to plant my foot in your ass for doing so Many people have served and died for the country, freedoms and other things that flag represents. Your using that avatar disrespects the past 4 generations of my family along with millions of others Your using an avatar of the US flag being burned is lacking in respect, distasteful and ignorant If you have problems with this great nation either work to solve them ..... or get out and don't tell me you are leaving when ever .... go now.... In fact in you dislike America so much put your money where your mouth is and no longer accept US traffic and no longer take US dollars |
I don't understand about your avatar. :( I must be retarded.
It's a clown riding a little bike on some big bubbles with a starry background. Why do people hate that so much? |
its actually makeing me hungry
but for what im not sure Turkey or sex  |

Actually the best thing you can do is take money from someone or something you don't like or agree with But in this case I like to challenge to put money where the mouth is to prove the lack of courage in their convictions |

as for Labret, I used to get livid when i saw someone, esp an American who benefits greatly by the rights afforded to them by the mere fact that they are US Citizens, burning any symbol of our freedom. I thought about the blood that paid for our freedoms, I think of the tenacity of our ancestors, and what it took to build this country into what it is. I think of how little respect it takes to do something so offensive to the great Americans of the past. I used to get livid, now I recognize it for what it is. It is only ignorance and immaturity (irregarless of age). I view it as offensive as someone saying the word nigger. The word itself is powerless. We assign it its power by the affect it has on us personally. So to is the act of burning a flag. It is done to offend. Allowing it to have that effect gives power to the person who wishes that effect. I give them the power to offend (or piss me right the fuck off) by buying into their bullshit. I add credibility to their argument by allowing passions to get the better of me. As for me, let him keep the avatar, let him revel in its beauty to him. Time will heal his eyes and he will see what he has done, and then it will matter. spaz |
Very good point spaz - thanks for sharing that perspective

I do apologize if that post kinda came off assholish, just my approach to people who want me pissed is to not be heh heh I win :) spaz |
spaz - you didn't come off as assholish, not at all
My Great-grandfather served during WWI My Grandfather served in WWII, he was on the first American ship into Tokyo Bay at the end of WWII, he is an artist and cabinetmaker. He drew the postmark that was used for all mail coming from that ship. He still has envelopes with the postmark he drew that was printed on them My Father served in the National Guard My Brother was one of the last American soldiers at the Berlin Wall I enjoy the liberties and privileges I have because of their and many others sacrifices |
interestingly enough,
despite the fact that I am only here 24 years, my family member gave life for America. I told this story many times.. My grandfather's brother Michael left Russia to Palestine in 1911 because he didn't wanna serve in Russian Army. In 1914 the WWI started and Ottoman Turks tried to get him into the Turkish Army. He left his wife and son and went to America. He fell in love with USA and volunteered into US Army and died in Verden in 1918... I have his round army tag with his serial number... |
Vick & Serge, what can be said but 'WOW" honestly. When i read or hear stories of Americans who have served, or gave the Ultimate, its strange. Because as a Former serviceman myself, and as someone who was brought up to love our country. I always feel a special connection with them. A kinship, like they are a member of my family or something. Yes, I am proud to be associated with people like Vicks Grandfather and Serge's Great Uncle and thanks to you guys for sharing them with me. :okthumb:

America is more than a country...
Much more than a flag.... America is an idea........... And you cannot burn ideas. |
you are right, there is nothing wrong with your friends..why don't you join them?

It's what the flag stands for, it's not "a piece of cloth"
By disrespecting that symbol you're disrespecting all that has been done, all the sacrifices that have been made. That's wrong in every respect As for your schoolgirl bitches remark - are you in the bottle now are waiting to open it? All these punching bags come over from GFY I humiliated grogan - it was embarrassingly easy but I lost the taste for it |

OK, its a turkey leg on your sig Vick. I've been wondering what that was exactly.
On the subject of flag burning. Isn't that the ultimate expression of a country's freedom? Though I'm not a fan of it, it is a symbolism of and in itself. |

.... but that would be an insult to idiots everywhere You're afraid of real life so you study it. How amusing, sad and ironic at 32 it would be hoped you had more sense. At 32 you have the sense and values of a 20 year old Last edited by Vick at Nov 23 2003, 05:25 PM |

Same here in the USA about when a flag is dirty, has toughed the ground or is worn (or old) and I agree having a dirty or ripped flag flying in your yard is disrespectful In the USA we are showing our unity and patriotism especially after the 9/11 tragedy That's why you saw so many flags But you still have to take in account burning the USA flag in protest is wrong and disrespectful and while I support the right to do so I also reserve the right to plant a foot in the ass of anyone doing so |

I study "life"? I study culture and society on a micro and macro level, art history, and human evolution. I fear something I will eventually receive a phd in? Instead of just being a passive sheap, I choose to understand why people "do the things they do". Its about fear, uh huh. Seriously, is this is the level of debate I can expect from you? But you're not worthy nor have the intellect to understand. Nor will I waste my valuable time trying to educate, enlighten and stimulate your little mind Your words and actions show where your intellect is, that of a 20 year old. You're a lifelong student afraid of real life (not that all students are afraid of real life, learning is a lifelong passion) Adiós, don't wait for May to leave the USA |

No thanks, I learn from others mistakes. If I ever end up like that I will consider my life a failure. I do not expect you to understand my way of life. I would love to see you walk a day in my shoes. I spend day in and day out being challenged by some of the best and brightest in their respective fields, and your barely literate ass is going to tell me what life is about and what values I should possess? Do not pretend you have any idea what a life in academia requires. I live a dream life. I have met very few people who would not kill to be in my position. Young, rich, and highly educated... with no wife and kids dragging me down. Only a dipshit like you would try and fault a person for getting an education. I suppose I should take my smut money and run around doing blow and banging strippers while I pretend to be a patriot? You are so severely outclassed it is not even funny. |
I will echo Nick's sentiments
"You seem to study much and yet have learned nothing." While you must beat on your chest and proclaim your few interests, I have no need to do the same And that speaks volumes about us both |

Has anyone asked me anything regarding sociology or anthropology that I have missed? Oh I get it... because I dont think like you two fucking idiots I must not have learned anything? And who exactly am I dealing with here? Did either of you two receive any education outside of highschool? |

If you are not willing to, then what is the point of even starting a thread? I thought you were going to abuse me ala Grogan. Lets have it, I am waiting. So far I am very disappointed. Last edited by [Labret] at Nov 23 2003, 03:09 PM |

The best descision I ever made was to be 'dragged down' by my wife and my kids. I happen to think that Einstein, Newton, Sagan & Hawking are the brightest minds in a field I laughingly have a lot of interest in. (laughable because intellectually I am not fit to polish their shoes). They have inspired me throughout my life. Caused me to comprehend things that blow my mind whenever I pause to think of them. Quantum Foam??? Singularities??? Amazing. I am in awe yet I wouldnt trade an hour with my family for a lifetime with any of those great men (forget that they were/are socially challenged egotists, Brilliant, but assholes none the less. Well the noteable exception of Sagan, he was a nice guy but I digress Family breeds a full happiness and contentment that I fear you wont experience, or will too late, when you too old to have fun with your son rough housing around, or beating the shit out of your daughters date hah hah Just kidding there. spaz |

A plan that is probably moronic , certainly unwise and revealing of a flawed thought process rarely found in the higher levels of Educational Institutions. For all you know I may be the overly educated son of a diplomat (free education I have heard is a perk of the job) who not only travelled extensively but may have attended an elite British School and passed high school at 15 ,I may have been offered a full scholarship at one of the worlds outstanding Universities at 16. I may also be a high school drop out scraping a bear living submiting to tgps . The fact is , you have no idea which , if either , is true. So fuck off. :-))) Quote:
And I suspect the ones you meet personally share our contempt for you ,your politics and your opinion. now , fearing repetition of myself , combine sex and travel , and fuck off! |
BTW Spaz, how goes the reading with Richard ?? Not surprising
you have an interest that field, since "One" deals with various aspects of quantum physics... ;-))) Last edited by nlphoto at Nov 23 2003, 05:11 PM |
