Recently PayPal has announced its departure from the adult Internet industry. Programs searching for an alternative need look no further.

After much discussion regarding the functionality of ePassporte and its’ ability to be used as a PayPal alternative, ePassporte announces the release of an interface that allows for online payments from ePassporte account holders anywhere, without the need for a traditional merchant account.

The ePassporte Commerce Account currently allows Internet merchants to collect non-recurring payments for goods and services. For instance, you could sell items in an online store or collect for an auction sale, in any dollar amount.

How does the ePassporte Commerce Account work?

If the purchaser has an existing ePassporte Account, it takes only the time to enter a user name and password to finalize the sale. If not, the purchaser is directed to a simple interface, creates an account, and completes the purchase.

Commerce Account benefits:

1. The ePassporte Virtual Visa is issued within minutes online and allows the purchaser to remain anonymous when making online purchases.

2. ePassporte is accepted worldwide and has been issued to thousands of surfers in more than 100 countries.

3. An ePassporte account allows for low cost, instantaneous, global, Peer-to-Peer payments.

4. ePassporte Account holders have the additional benefit of automatically being able to use their Virtual Visa to shop at online merchants who accept Visa.

5. The ePassporte team has processed millions of online high-risk transactions and is committed to the processing needs of the online community.

ePassporte is positioned to be the online currency of choice for webmasters and surfers seeking low cost, flexible, and anonymous shopping all over the world.

Time is short! ePassporte Commerce Accounts are FREE and available NOW. Contact sales@ePassporte.com to get a Commerce Account agreement or to learn more today.

Hey cj :)

There are still some things to be added to the system over the next while... and we are adding something really cool to it right now, spent the day in meetings at the office hammering out the parameters... people will like it :)

I know this has probably been mentioned in the recent past...sorry I havent been watching Oprano as much as I should...however....

Coming from a "failed" prepaid card project from last summer -- Ill ask the same question here as I asked of the Epassport guys in Las Vegas. How does the user get the card?

Dont get me wrong this is a GREAT way to pay webmasters but I dont understand how a user/buyer will get the epassporte in their hands to use.

*KK* 04-24-2003 04:06 PM

There are actually 3 parts to the system, gonzo --
1. the peer to peer functionality -- which bypasses the Interchange system entirely and keeps transactions in house would be the way I would describe it. Once the money enters the system and is moved through the system it doesn't require Interchange to move.
2. The Virtual Visa -- this is automatically assigned to every account that is opened -- regardless of account type right now. This gives the user the ability to purchase online at any merchant doing Visa compliant online sales with the exception of bin numbers like gaming, which are not in the system at this time.
3. The Electron Card Visa -- the user requests the card, it's mailed to him and he can then use it at ATMs or compliant POS terminals.

The Virtual Visa has loads of potential though it's often the overlooked part of the system -- it can be used for so many online transactions -- including paying bills with utility companies that take online payment ;)

The big difference here, IMHO, is distribution.

Most of the pre-paid cards are just MLM nightmares and the distribution is poor.

Even with epassporte, I'm sure it will take some time to get more users. PyaPal didn't grow big overnight, they just kept plugging away and adding mroe and more people everyday. This, IMHO, will be the same way. Adult websites have a large audience reach and the company behind it is a quality company as well. That makes a huge difference. As a webmaster, if I'm promoting an alternative payment method, I want to ensure I'm using a reliable company that isn't going to just run off with my customers' money or screw me or my customers. Some new pre-paid card backed by an unknown company isn't as exciting as one backed by someone who is BOTH well known and well respected.

*KK* 04-24-2003 05:25 PM

Perhaps I misunderstood the question now that I see Sykks' answer, I thought of how does the customer technically and physically get the account going :)

Marketing will be in stages for the accounts. The initial stage is the adult marketplace and for a very good reason -- you already know who is involved and many of you do business with another of their companies, Epoch.

The product is by no means perfect, nor does it work for everything we have planned yet.

And you are entirely right gonzo, distribution is the key. We are working through that situation in a two prong approach, one obviously being getting accounts into the hands of the end users, but the other being acceptability by merchants, both in adult and mainstream.

It's not an easy task at all, but then again, I did say I was looking for a challenge, not just a job, back around Christmastime when everyone was asking me what I was going to do :)

Hell Puppy 04-24-2003 11:57 PM

Yeah, the challenge here is user acceptance.

They must somehow be incented to sign up in such a manner as to make it a total no brainer.

Actually we both have ideas on how to do that. Since we were both working on the same prepaid project. However the last email I had on you was at galleryspots and went unanswered so if youd be so kind as to hit me up gonzo@gonzo.com maybe we can make something happen.

Personally Id want a KK card if you got nekkid...

RobBuxxx 04-25-2003 02:46 PM

I have heard some good things coming from people who are using ePassporte. Anyone try out www.stormpay.com. I signed up for one of these accounts and it seems to be about the same as PayPal.

Yeah, both GonZo and myself have a ton of info and a few interesting angles we haven't played from our little pre-paid adventure last year. We also have some scars...mostly from dealing with mainstream morons, which is ultimately why the project was shelved.

The business opportunity for alternative processing is there and valid, and grows everytime MC/Visa tighten the screws. The trick is getting the card in the hands of enough users to reach critical mass and have it take on a life of it's own....like Paypal did with auctions. With pre-paid we actually had some retail distribution lined up and ready to go which afforded some interesting opportunities for bringing totally new blood into the marketplace.

Anyhoo, all this talk has a few creative juices flowing on the subject again. You, me and GonZo probably need to compare notes and see if we have any pieces between us that might be mutually beneficial.

Ping me with a current email as well at hellpuppy at hellpuppy dot com.

Truthfully Kim
The only reason I don't use ePassporte is the inability to transfer funds from ePassporte to my bank account. I remember when the first posts came out, that was one of the features mentioned.

What ever happened to that? I know you told me it was coming soon but I have heard that it was coming soon since the show in Vegas.

Truthfully...is that really going to happen or not. Right now with a $300/day limit on the electron card, it is hardly worth it to me.

I mean, I would love to accept ePassporte payments at GreenguyandJim but there is no way I want to go to the atm 3 days in a row to get my money from it.

To me, transferring to a bank account should be ePassporte's priority number one.

If this is one of the cool features you are mentioning, I apologize. But if not, don't you think it should be?

I dont have much of an imagination so I need to see the total nekkidness. How did the charity go? Ill email you my number here and wel see what we can get rolling.

*KK* 04-28-2003 04:52 PM

LOL, I'm looking for an email with your number in it, and can't figure out if I'm blind or just don't have it?

The charity event went quite well actually, we had about 450 attend and people seemed to have fun and spend money so that was a good thing :)

There are two childrens charities here in Phoenix that get all the proceeds and I think they will both be quite pleased.

I really like Epassporte KK.. both virtual and electron cards work everywhere they should in Aus for me so far. But I have the same issue as Jim with transfer limits and withdrawl limits.

Also, is this designed for small irregular 2b2 payments between webmasters or is there minumum usage requirements to justufy setup?

Are there any plans to wave the $5 virtual card fee for new users who are actually making a purchase and will epassporte be paying referal fees for new users like the payal $5 scheme?

Glad to hear they are working for you -- we have the ability to adjust card limits on a per card basis -- if you need yours adjusted then let me know :)

Commercial accounts have different setups and limits than the personal accounts do...

No plans to drop the fee to create a Virtual account, since Visa gets their whack on every transaction.

Reseller program is in the programming stage at the moment as well.
