cybernet expo 2008
OK, so a couple of days ago I tried to register for this little thingy. First, I wanted to register two people, and it seems that can't be done. So I do it twice. First time, I forget a field, return to fill it in, and all my info is gone and needs to be re done. Now this seems like the internet a decade ago. Cheap online travel agencies etc. I would have thought this would have been done better by porn people. Now I am a little annoyed but press on. After all the pleasant looking pornographers on their home page look efficient and ready to help me in my consumer needs. So I finally.....like half hour later....get two forms filled and sent off. No reply. No confirmation. Nada. So I look for a phone number like any real business would have. No phone number. That is sooooo bush league, but I soldier on and fill out their little form for help. No reply. So is this show still on? I mean I have the room reservations. But I have no idea if I have show passes. Does this company always do business this way? Anyone here rep these guys and have some answers? And do any of you look like those smiling cheerful reps on their home page?

Re: cybernet expo 2008
Well, its official. They got back to me and we are signed up g to g. But It is ponderous. Oh well, looking forward to a nice drive down the coast.

Re: cybernet expo 2008
We are planning a Micthell Brothers outing the night of the Players Ball.
Its tradition to skip it all these years. Cant stop now. |
Re: cybernet expo 2008
Well... by my magical powers of deduction I'm able to figure out which of the registrants you are. Yes I may be 10 years behind the times, but I sure do look pleasant and am often smiling and cheerful.
Honestly I would have thought that "Please include the information for just one person with each form submission" on the registration page would have been pretty self explanatory? Well, you have my phone number now... next time feel free to call and I'll happily walk you thru it and tell you a few jokes and a bedtime story to boot. This begs the question though... If you are concerned that we are a "real business" and our "ponderous" ways wasted "like a half hour" of your precious time, then why on gods green earth are you going? |

You sent an email thru the "CONTACT" form on the website and I responded to you, the customer, within 24 hours and did what I could to pacify you. You can't please all the people all the time. |
Re: cybernet expo 2008
I have no doubt the show will be a success. I just hope i'll be able to make it.

1) After you filled out the contact form, you got a reply from Jay in less than 24 hours. 2) After you filled out the form, you were told that the submission was received, thanks for registering, and that you would be contacted by email at a later time. So yeah, you got confirmation that what you submitted was received. In fact, here's what it said: "SUBMISSION RECEIVED: THANK YOU! On behalf of Cybernet Expo and our Registration Sponsor High Def Riches, thank you for registering for the 2008 Cybernet Expo show in San Francisco! We have received the registration information you have submitted, and will be contacting you soon via the email address you supplied." Because we process payments manually at the moment, you don't get the email confirmation immediately. You get the one on the screen for starters and then when the payment is processed, THEN you get the email receipt. I get that you want instant gratification with that email receipt, but there is a good reason why we process payments manually at the moment. But who knows, that could change in the future. So far you're the only one complaining. As for phone numbers... Gonzo, why don't you publish your phone number on your contact form? You have advertisers, right? How Bush League! ;) I guess I don't see a problem with this... lots of online companies operate this way. Lots of very well respected companies. I'll take the suggestion under advisement though but, to be honest, have no plans to change that right now. Now Rhetorical, I wonder if your own business stands up to similar scrutiny? I don't know you, so please enlighten me... what is your business? What do you do in this industry? I'd kind of interested in checking out your products and services, maybe I can repay your kind suggestions for improvement? ;) |

Re: cybernet expo 2008
I can't wait for this show, especially now that I know Gonzo is attending - I LOVE BBQ.
I didn't like signing up our attendees one at a time either, but I suffered through it to support Jay :clapping: I had the confirmations sent to each of us though I probably should have had them all sent to me. Got the rooms reserved too as I think this show will sell out - and if the Players' Ball is a rock show this time that might be fun :okthumb: |

edit: and btw, this was never meant to be a pissing, bitching thread. Its just business and a discussion of such. Sheesh, it amazes me how these things can spiral when people jump on various bandwagons. |

And if this is just talking business, hit me up in SF and I'll give you a few good business pointers of my own. Just business, no need to get offended. Fair is fair, right? |
Re: cybernet expo 2008
OK, I have to ask. Why BBQ? That wouldn't be my first choice of things to eat while in San Francisco. I can get great BBQ here, within 10 minutes of the house in almost any direction.

I'm not sure what my first choice would be, but a well prepared salmon dinner is on my short list. This Oregon boy hasn't had any Pacific salmon since moving to Texas 5 years ago. |

Re: cybernet expo 2008
Don't expect good salmon though... I believe they are not allowing fishing off the pacific coast at the moment for salmon due to a serious shortage of fish. And the farmed stuff just isn't the same.

Re: cybernet expo 2008
I am anticipating some great meals and business from this show.
This one is always a tune up for me when I go. its less hassle than some other shows and a great mix of business people there. I dont hold it against them that they are from Ynot. They put on a great show despite it! The seminars have been informative and well attended. Its certainly a chance to break out with people who were asking questions or speaking to learn a little more. Im taking a 5 hour flight out there Im confident. Toby attended his first one last year so he can give you a clean perspective. Hes going back so Id think that might be a :okthumb: |
