Today Is Not A Sad Day

Timon, you are incorrect.

Yesterday was the sad day.

Today is just a continuation of the same sad policies that will turn this into something ... Oprano-lite? - sad.

Can none of you imagine a world with out Nickatilynx and Anthony?

I can see it clearly.. why are some so bothered by this?

Oh fuck it, Oprano is a better place without those carpet shitting trouble makers.

But I can't imagine an Oprano WITH censorship.... that's just not right!

Re: Today Is Not A Sad Day

I have always been against banning anyone.

This is Nick and Ant, everyone knows their history, and the situation they consistently find themselves in.

Just like previous "big bad wolves", they huff and puff - but never can blow Oprano down.

Re: Today Is Not A Sad Day

If you think it has anything to do with the individuals involved, you are sadly mistaken - at least in my case.

One of the reasons that many people found Oprano attractive is that stupid didn't cut it here. That standard is obviously weakening.

Few of my adult projects ever did more than spectacularly below average, yet I was NEVER made to feel unwelcome here. I could have gotten my wittle feelings hurt more than a few times, if I had been thin skinned about things.

It's not about Nick and Ant - it's more about an environment where the short-bus riders have to be treated the same as the National Merit finalists.

Re: Today Is Not A Sad Day

PD got it right (he always manages to surprise me)

Has nothing to do with the individuals involved.

I first started posting here back when I was looking for a board where the discussion was not ONLY the sdult industry. I was looking for a place where there was intelligent discussion.

Prior to Oprano, I had been hanging at VNWR learning the ins and outs of gallery building, submitting, all that. But Voltar's board left something to be desired (for me) because you couldn't piss around too much. It was a great place to learn the basics and an ok place for friendly chat but Voltar drew a line when it came to getting controversial.

So, I found Oprano. I was newbie meat but yet I was never beat down on, I was never insulted (much...lol) and I had no real problem fitting in. I tended to participate more in the political discussions rather than the business discussions because I was newbie to the business discussions, it was better to sit and listen than to show my newbieness off for the world. But in sitting and listening I picked up all sorts of nuggets to work with.

The best thing about Oprano back then was that noone got banned and noone got censored.

People got their feelings hurt here and there because the board seemed to self-censor but the ones who stuck around eventually became a part of it all.

But things change. There is a lot less political talk going on in here, there is a lot less fun threads and a whole lot less pissing going on. That might be good for some, for me, I miss the political threads (I miss going at it with Torone), I miss the fun threads, I miss the assholes board.

Problem is that I have looked around for other places that have the intelligence level and the type of discussion I want and I have yet to find it. The mainstream boards all seem to want you to watch your language and play nice and that is just plain boring.

Oprano was: intelligent, fun, controversial, mean, nasty, loving, kind, and informational.

Oprano is: ?? (waiting to see)

PD and Sarettah got it right... Oprano did not have an anti newbie or anti small player atmosphere, it had an anti moron atmosphere.

Peon,
only MORON would pant Admin into the corner. If everybody took my advice and just shut the fuck up about it for a week, the world would have been a better place.

So...shut the fuck up and take other yappers from all side with you.

Rcourt64, because you are a freaking MORON and I don't drink or break bread with morons with no possibility of improvement.

If I haven't made myself clear, I'll be happy to elaborate further.

This reminds me of last week's South Park in which Matt & Trey spent two whole episodes pointing out that you either censor nothing or, if you start censoring, people will push and push until all kinds of things are censored.

IMHO Banning someone is a sign of weakness and an admission of inability to handle or deal with the person banned.

I for one respect that point of view Robin, but i think you left out another possibility other then just weakness or inability to deal.. what about a lack of desire to deal with the person. Not just specifically in this instance, but in general.

Nope,
I saw it on an episode of Ellen (my cousin who didn't have cable and I were stuck at her apartment one day...what did you expect us to do?! LOL) they had some old lady "manners" on. To eat a roll or whatever, you very carefully break off a bite size amount, butter the bite, and eat it...
Hope that helps.

As far as today being or not being a sad day...It's not a sad day. It's a time for change, and it seems that there are those who want things to continue to be the same exact way that it's been for 10 years or so. The world is a changin' and it's time that the board changes as well. If it means getting rid of a few fuddleduds who's main purpose seemed to insult & harrass, then so be it. :)

Before you spread your words of wisdom, oh brightest one,
THINK, to the extent of your abilities, of course,
WHY Nick, Gonzo, AEBN, Bishop have bought into Oprano and not a cazzilions of other boards you or anybody ever heard of who do exactly what you wish they were doing?

When and IF you figure it out on your own, I'll consider my job as an educator of the newbies is done and I'll move to the Algebra Appreciation Society Board.

I bet $5 that you never will.

That kind of disparaging remark is exactly what's wrong around here, there's no excuse for it, and I'm sure your Mothers taught all of you better manners than that. You may not want to hear what she has to say, but the lady speaks the truth.

Toby,
I am sorry I called a stupid person "stupid". My mother taught me the 10 commandments and that I should never lie. You don't impress me as a smart one either. Do you have smart siblings your parents are proud of? You don't? Than go stay in line 'til your turn comes to fuck off.

Exactly the type of reply I expected. You can't debate the message so you attack the messenger.

You don't know me well enough to have a clue how intelligent I am, but figure that by insulting me I'd jump into the fray and entertain you for a little while longer. Sorry, I have better things to do. It's a shame that you don't.
