Check out the latest forecast. You'll be on the strong side of a hurricane if the forecast holds.

Do I want my room to be high or low ??

RawAlex 08-10-2004 06:33 PM

Depends if you want to fly or swim :-)

Alex

Peaches 08-10-2004 07:16 PM

Clemson Tiger is going to LOVE this :) He's been waiting for a hurricane since he got to MS. Sadly, he is his mother's child......They fly the AF hurricane planes (C30s I think?) out of his base.

HOWEVER, he and his buds got in trouble for going to NOLA last weekend so he'll probably be stuck on base the whole time and won't be able to follow it much.

They had "Hurricane Awareness" or something week and all they did was wear their BDUs instead of blues all week. I'm sure they're prepared now.

I asked him if they'd do anything if there was a hit for the outlying areas and he said no - the Guard does that. Odd.

Peaches 08-10-2004 07:18 PM

Ya know, looking at that map, looks like it could hit FLL too! :P

Dravyk 08-10-2004 07:57 PM

Look where Bonnie is going to be Thursday too ...

http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/track...00402_5day.html

And where Charley and Bonnie will be after ... no way around it, storm fronts for people flying in and flying out too. Yuck.

I have to admit to feeling a tad better that I'm going to miss it. :(

mojobill 08-10-2004 08:03 PM

so... there are TWO hurricane's hitting the FL area this week.....

and we are all flying INTO that area this week....

I think its a conspiracy!!!!

I, for one, will be donning my tin hat!

Mike AI 08-10-2004 08:12 PM

Yeah these hurricaines could be troubling for my drive back to Tampa.

I may have to stay a few extra days in South Florida.

Serge you may have company!!

SykkBoy 08-10-2004 08:34 PM

It's a sign from R-n

He's tired of the debauchery of Girls Gone Wild, skimpy bathing suits, pornographers gathering there, telemarketing scam opearations being based out of there and he's really upset about the elderly who accidently voted for Pat Buchanan

Track shifted a little to the right now. Hurricane watch in the Keys. Impact? Friday.

webfather 08-11-2004 07:38 AM

Hurricane party at the Diplomat. How cool!

If it does come to South Florida, I am afraid everyone will be forced out of the hotel as a category 1 requires evacuation from that area.

Looks like a REAL good chance it will hit here. Quite a bit closer track than yesterday.

Let's see how long you stay in the keys before they order the evacuation and close YOUR hotel. When do you leave?

Can you fly to St Marteen instead? ;-)

It will be WAY past the keys by Saturday from what I can tell. Now, what condition your hotel will in if it hits...but a Cat 1 really is nothing as far as damage. I'm surprised they evacuate a hotel for a Cat 1!

Power. Even a strong tropical storm is good for knocking out the power for a few days. When I was in the Tampa area, a tropical storm took out the power for 2 days. Next thing you know you have guests dying of heart attacks trying to make it up the steps to their rooms because the elevators are out of service.

Now when people lose their power they get stupid - and bored - which go hand and hand of course. Next thing you know, your guests think they should maybe try surfing because it's "only a category one".
