Our advertisers are smarter than that...they by banners and buttons on Oprano.

Buyind sig was an interesting idea that has gone terribly worng. Just like anything the horde does, it ends up going over board and being worthless.

People who buy sigs for impressions are fools.

I talked to a few people over there about it. Still debating if it's worth the $$. The ones getting $1K+ I think are HIGHLY overpaid, lol!

What I don't get is why Lensman pays for sigs....it's HIS BOARD. :unsure:

I know I am new go GFY and when I first started posting I was aking people about their companines.. (of course I assume that if you have a button for someting in your signature you MUST work with them) I know wonder if it hurts peoples business when some asshole says someting and I think they work for a company and they do not..

I just now found the new "forum" over there... crazy stuff.
The set-up between Lens and Fletch to keep the prices down for adult.com offers was hilarious; even worse was all of the goofs that fell for it.

does the person selling their sig have to agree to some sort of conduct guidlines? I would hate to buy something one day and find out the person I paid went on a racist (for example) posting spree the next day with my company name sponsoring each post.

That's what has me worried. I've read some of the posts from the people who have contacted me and while they look OK NOW, I can certainly see the potential for something "bad" to happen.

I suppose the best way to handle it is to have something stated in writing - even though it's obviously not enforceable. If you host the banner on your (the advertiser's) server, you can always remove it and just kiss the $$ goodbye for the rest of the month.

Most of the buyers know the reps of the people they are purchasing from. Most of the larger names have been around for a while, and they are not about to do something rash to ruin their names.

as far as Lens making money off this , and buying sigs....think in the long term. What did he actually invest? He bought a few sigs for pittance, those guys will post their little brains out to please him.The overall trafic on GFY will be up as a result of this, and the other sig whores posting. The prices Lens charges for ads on the board are probably tied to the performance of it.The more trafic, the more money he can charge for the ads. I bet it wont take him long to recoup his investment . Just a smart move on his part :rolleyes:

Since when did quantity equal quality? What's the point of generating millions of more posts a month if they're going to be worthless? Now was the sig auction a good idea? Time will tell, there's interesting stuff posted on GFY but normally there's so much drivel I miss it, or the thread becomes 10 pages long with 1/2 a page containing the real info and you have to sort through it, is this new sig spree gonna lead to 20 page threads with 1/4 of a page with real info on it? Would be sad if that's the way it goes.

In my 7 years of being online, I've never known *anyone* who has that piece of shit toolbar installed. It's like asking Mac users to comment on anything in the computer world... their 1% opinion hardly makes a difference.

I will, I sold my sig to Lensman for $500 even though I would have made $1000 from another offer I had just a week ago. I could have taken the $1000 even the same day I sold to Lensman. What in the world makes you think he should pay more than that for a sig on his own board? I personally would rather get $500 from Lensman than $1000 from a company I don't really use. Completely off. Hey if that spammer scamming everyone on Paris Hilton offered you the amount you want for your sig I guess you would put it in regardless of if you endorse them or not. Yes, I turned down money from a company I DON'T USE and instead put Lensmans banner in my sig for less. It's his board, I post on it daily, and I respect him.
