Do you play with guns? I personally hate weapons. I haven't used a gun since I was in the army. I saw a thread about guns at GFY, and it awakened my curiosity. Finland is such a nice country that we don't need damn weapons to keep ourselves safe... and we also have doors that can't be kicked in very easily, and we lock them. This is the gun I used, and loved. :rokk:

.762 RK62 a finnish assault rifle designed in 1962 and still in use. :)
http://www.porngreen.biz/rk62.gif

hehe..
Do you americans REALLY enjoy having such loose gun laws and shit? I would be most uncomfortable if my nextdoor maniac had an assault rifle.

TeenGodFather 11-13-2003 09:48 AM

I named my rifle 'Lolita', my sergeant thought 'John' wasn't an appropriate name for a gun as I first suggested. I fucking hated the army. I had serious problems with authority. Here's a pic of me and my squadleader. I'm on the left. We were all required to use the same outfit, but as I said.. I hated authority. Hehe, don't get me wrong.. I love my country, but I hate most of the fucking idiots in it (for some reason most of them seem to work in the army). :)

edit.. oh yeah, the pic.

I love going shooting once in a while..
pistols, revolvers, nothing serious

Never used a gun.

I like firing guns as well. I own a few. I think there is nothing wrong with our gun laws, I think there is a problem with some people who miss use them. If the gov't would enforce existing laws it would solve the problem.

Commit a crime wth a gun - go to jail for life. Even if its a fake one.

Well, that's true. I went to shoot with pistols and revolvers when I got my bodyguard license. It was good fun, but it was in a controlled environment. I don't like the idea of having guns in a house, especially in the cities. :)

I also enjoyed shooting stuff at my friends cabin with a shotgun, good fun.

That would be nice. I will never understand why people always want to take guns away from people use them legally instead of just punishing the twats who use them to commit crimes.

If only the idiots with guns would just shoot themselves.

I come from a family of gun crazed men. My grandfather shoves his gun very visibly down the front of his pants when strange people come to his door, usually sales people. They often take off running hahaha....and my uncle has half a wall stacked with boxes of ammo in his spare bedroom. I have no clue why, he could never possibly use it all but its his favorite hobby. He just likes to go out to the desert to shoot things.

I actually haven't shot a gun since I was about 16. I would drive out to mojave desert with a group of friends when we were in high school and go camping/shooting. The last trip they made I didn't go, lucky for me cause they came too close to a meth lab and were under fire at about midnight. They actually made it out alive, but one of them got skimmed by a bullet and kept the shirt with the cool bloody hole for his bedroom wall.

Now I wonder why the hell my parents let me do something like that in the first place, heh. Kids should not have access to guns.

HEHE that is funny stuff.

Kids should not have access to guns, but if they are in the house Parents have a responsiblity to teach them how to use them properly and the right amount of respect and consequences of them.

My father had tons of guns in the house, and they were all hidden for the most part - but like any kid I could have found them, but I know what the consequences would have been.

Parents need to be PARENTS.... it would solve most of the problems this country has!

Doesn't everyone do this? Or am I just a crazed American? I live way out in the country, only people coming to my door better are a. someone I know, b. the UPS/post office, c. someone who shouldn't be. I've found to also be very effective to answer the door in boxers with my bowie knife in one hand and the sharpening stone in the other and casually sharpen it while they try to sell me something, I should install a cam to film my own reality show, "When People Ring the Wrong Doorbell"

I used to go to the range with my dad when I was a kid, and he was always very careful and taught me (in no uncertain terms) how guns should be handled... I think that is of utmost importance if you're going to have guns in the house.

I haven't shot a gun in years, but I would love to do some target shooting. I was quite good when I was a kid. :)

Absolutely right, I believe I was 8-10 when my father first educated me on guns, if you're going to have them in the house be a parent and teach your kids about them, they're not something to fear, however they're also not toys, whatever happened to responsible parenting?

cherrylula 11-13-2003 10:47 AM

Actually Toolz, my grandfather is from france. Snooty french people can be gun crazed too I suppose.

I just keep a really annoying little barking dog around that explodes anytime he hears knocking sounds.

But yeah I think they had me shooting rifles when I was about 9.

This happened here in Boca last month:

http://www.bocanews.com/index.php?src=news...ry=LOCAL%20NEWS

"White, toilet papered lawns, flaming feces on doorsteps and crank phone calls top the list of what local students say they consider harmless pranks.
But until Oct. 25, many said they also lumped Ding-Dong-Ditch – a game of ringing doorbells and running away – into that category.
Those notions were rocked when 16-year-old Mark Drewes was killed after he randomly rang neighbor, Jay Levin’s, doorbell just after midnight in their Boca Del Mar neighborhood. Levin told sheriff’s deputies he feared for his life, armed himself with a handgun and shot the popular sophomore from Pope John Paul II High School. ....."

Fletch XXX 11-13-2003 10:51 AM

THIS IS MY RIFLE. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I master my life.

My rifle, without me is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will....

My rifle and myself know that what counts in this war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, nor the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count.

We will hit...

My rifle is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weakness, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights, and its barrel. I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage. I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will...

Before God I swear this creed. My rifle and myself are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life.

So be it, until there is no enemy, but Peace!

Peaches 11-13-2003 10:52 AM

I have a couple of guns and like Toolz, if you show up at my door unannounced, I will have a gun (take note, Gonzo and HP :awinky: ).

My father had a few guns but none were ever loaded. He just had them from growing up.

My grandfather had a loaded gun in his nightstand and in his car. Growing up, we knew not to ever touch them. Remember my stories about the switches and wooden spoons? It would have been a LOT worse if we had touch my g'father's guns.

We also always had bb guns as kids and my son had one when he was little. I've thought about getting one so I can keep the crows and squirrels out of my birdfeeder. :okthumb:

cherrylula 11-13-2003 10:59 AM

I have a 5 year old little brother who is totally fascinated with guns. Its rather disturbing I have to admit. He's been playing shoot-em-up computer games since he was about 2 and is pretty good with them. Its odd seeing such a young kid maneuver a computer mouse so well.

For his birthday this year he got the biggest supersoaker water gun they make. Its bigger than him and almost ridiculous, but he loves it and any type of gun toy or game. Nerf guns, rubber band guns, anything that shoots.

They keep the real guns locked up and away from him though. It still bothers me to see a kid that gun crazed so young. But he's not my kid so oh well.

jimmyf 11-13-2003 11:00 AM

I had guns when I was a kid and when I got out of the Army. Use 2 do a lot of hunting. Haven't done any for years and years, I couldn't kill an animal or bird now days. Had some hand guns until about 4 years ago got rid of 'em. Got 2 fire a bunch of stuff in the Army big ones, and all kinds of small ones that was a blast.

Our country (good or bad) was founded with the help of guns. Guns are a bigger part of our culture than apple pie. I'm not judging this, nor do I care. So without getting into if it's "right or wrong", I'll just say this...

Guns. When you want something dead... there is no substitute. :salute:

I own a lot of guns. Went hunting last night in my back yard. :D

Saw about 7 does, but did not shoot one.

Gonna take my mule out to the WMA this weekend and hunt since it is starting to get cold finally.

I love guns and I am not the least bit scared that there are 300 million guns in America. :okthumb:

I have small children and as a parent, it's my duty to protect them.
Should someone break into our house, a yippy poodle will do nothing more than wake me up and then get its head kicked in by the intruder.
It will be up to me - and my gun - to protect my family.

Carrie 11-13-2003 01:40 PM

Now a german shepherd, rottweiler, or doberman pinscher would definitely be able to do more than a yippy poodle, but if the intruder has a gun (as most intruders do, since criminals ignore laws and those include gun laws) then the dog is just going to get shot.
And it will *still* be up to me - and my gun - to protect my family.

Vick 11-13-2003 01:40 PM

Most burglars if jumped on in the dark by a 100 lb dog trying to rip his face or nuts off won't be able to keep calm and shoot the dog. They'll either try to run like hell or cover up, protect their vitals, and scream.

I've seen the police dogs in action a few times and while there will always be someone who can keep calm and handle the dog, most people cannot especially when they're trying to sneak around in the dark.

At least from what I've seen.

But having a gun for yourself never hurt either. ;) And if you have a yippy poodle it's better than nothing since it'll wake ya up and let you get your gun before it's too late.

Sure, just hang out at the Spanish Steps off the Old Kent Road. Tons of Jamaican pea shooters.
Fact is though, if guns weren't so readily available, there would be very few guns for criminals to play with. I feel safer walking the streets of London than say Detroit where everyone is packing.

Growing up I've always had a shepherd or shepherd mix (Heinz 57) by my side. It's weird being in this small house and not having the room for a dog. :(
Our last shep mix was put down just a couple of months ago (my Dad's dog), she was 13 or so. She was a deep caramel color with brindle boxer striping and head shape, chow-chow tongue (spotted) and ears, labrador chest/barrel and shepherd legs and hips. The hips are finally what got her.

I'd love to get a big brindle boxer or a lady rottweiler - something very patient, and sturdy enough to handle the boy's most fervent attentions, lol. Until we get a larger place though the most I can hope for is a pug (tank tank tank). I really miss our pug. :) :)

Shootings have increased by 61% since January when compared with last years numbers.

It is estimated the 1 in 3 gang members are armed, with over 17,000 estimated gang members nation wide.

Figures don't include organised crime syndicates either.

The numbers are nothing when compared with the US but are quite an eye opener when you consider that guns are illegal here.

I'm guessing we're about 4-6 years behind the US and we're catching up...

I have a Shepard and a Chow. Shepard's are the absolute best dogs, IMO. I probably won't get anything but a Shepard from now on. I wouldn't have gotten the Chow except I wanted a playmate for my Shepard, and the Chow was 3 years old, perfectly healthy, and going to be put down. So I took him.

But from here on out, it's all German Shepards. :)
