Why do you and riabanana and tomeatsdiner all share the same IP address?

sarettah 08-16-2007 01:51 PM

It's all about the customer really.

Ok, while I would agree that it appears rather unprofessional to ask every female that comes upon the board to show their tits (although it is tradition and to be fair Serge used to regularly ask guys to show their dicks) the fact that sometimes, when the poster is also the product, it offers up a dilemna.

Any good salesperson knows thier product inside and out. In order to be able to sell the product effectively they must be familiar with all of the product's benefits and all of the products shortcomings.

When a person that runs their own site (in this biz usually sologirls but also could be guys) shows up on the board it is perfectly reasonable for those who are considering promoting them to ask to see the goods. It is equally important for that person to display their personality for the board to see because when we are promoting a solo site we are selling not only the looks but also the personality behind the looks.

If a model comes on looking for someone to represent them or shoot them, again, it is perfectly reasonable to expect them to show their stuff. How can you make a determination in any way at all as to whether you might want to rep them or use them as content if you don't know what they have to offer?

If a sponsor or sponsor rep comes on to the board, it is reasonable to expect them to explain and show their product to their potential salesforce, whether that product be paysites, hardgoods, software, whatever.

So, ladies, please keep showing what you have to offer. If you want it sold properly, we, your potential salesforce, must know clearly what the product is, what benefits are associated with the product and what shortfalls that our customers might encounter along the way are.

After all, we wouldn't want to rip off our customers (the surfers), now would we??

You make excellent points.

Well, punkin, the short version is that all of the points made in the comment I responded to would be directed at a girl running her own site and performing in some way or another - be it model or other. There are those of us who do other things in the industry, enjoy the industry overall, and like what we do... But that doesn't mean that it makes sense for a guy to ask to see my tits before he'll work with me on projects or deals, since it's not relevant to the work at hand (*ahem* as it were...).

Y'know. Like that :nyanya: I have many talents, but that doesn't mean it's appropriate for them to be shared in this forum, dig? :whistling

Yeh, that's not just on the boards, though. That's industry wide. It's also a common perception of all women in the industry to the outside world. So, yeh, it's a tough space to hang tight in.

Did you skip the first paragraph perhaps, in which I acknowledged that it was not appropriate to ask every woman?

Sarettah, Sarettah. Dude, their stuff is on their web page. That is usually posted. What you do, is click on the link, and it will take you to where this woman does "business". Ie: "their stuff". It is where they peddle their wares. Shame on you.

Fun is fun and business is business. I have been to a ton of optician, real estate, chamber of commerce, and any number of fucking boring conventions and you know what? They do the same shit I see posted on this board. You know like walk down the centre of the street paralytic legless drunk. Walk into bars and ask girls to show them their tits. But that ain't business, it is just fucking embarrassing. When I was 18 and drinking myself stupid and doing all that shit, then life was good. But kids, you get old and the next thing you know, you are buying or selling that shit. And it appears around here, that there is a lot of buying rather than selling going on.

You should know by now that not everything is as it appears, in fact quite often very little is as it appears.

The conversations taking place in public on the boards often bear little resemblence to the ones in private, where the business actually gets done.

I know you're well aware of all this and are just making it an issue to get a stir out of someone. Ya got me, but I had a few minutes to kill and thought get out the ol' ten foot pole and take a few pokes.

No, I caught all of that, but it also bears mentioning that, on occassion, a woman comes into the boards to learn something from the people who've been around longer and have a solid knowledge base.

Now, no one's asked me to show my tits here, but I've also not come on the board trying to buy or sell anything at all. I'm here to learn, and I thought it was an interesting discussion - if someone wants to know about what I do, they can click the link in my sig line, or send me a PM.

I was merely stating that it can be a tough business to stay in and board can be a tough place to hang if you're a woman. But as I also pointed out to Trisha - it seems to me that it's not the self-promotion that bugs people as much (since we're all in sales in some way or another), it's the buggering off when a goal has been reached.

I like to think that this board is about forming long term relationships both business and professional. At least its how I try to conduct my own business.

As you saw in Miami...I dont do to bad with it.

Yall should spend some time with Trisha away from the show frivolity. Youll find shes quite a businesswoman in her own right.

What you call ego... I would call marketing. Afterall she relaunched her own site and was trying to get some webmaster promo going. Everyone got to see what they would be promoting.

Smart bidness.

YES, I totally agree with you there. I have had the pleasure to hang out with Trisha Uptown several times. She is a very sweet person and has a good head on her shoulders. She has goals in her life and yes you should check out her site, its very nice.

I have a question:

I should like to know why/how you got into the adult business?
Like most men, I think I'm surprised that a woman not being "talent," would be interested in the adult business.
Now, I realize this may be interpreted as a caveman mentality, but in all the "cave men" defense, we are raised to believe that sex is an icky thing that men want and women "do their duty."

(Well, over here in Amish country, anyhow...)

So I'm always surprised (and quite frankly elated,) when I see a female that is "in the business" without the sexual component.

Well, I don't think I said that. You must have one of those caveman dictionaries that translate every word to a sexual connotation.

I do however, find them very interesting.

Sorry I missed your question before now, EJ.

How'd I end up in adult and not be talent? Luck and a lack of exhibitionism. :P

I'm a pretty open-minded person and grew up in a household where sexuality was as much a part of life as dinner and bathing, so I thought it would be a nice way to embrace a sex-positive outlook without being a sex-worker myself. I'd been in finance for years, primarily functioning in an operational capacity (platform trading, portfolio rebalancing, and the like), and I was looking for a change of pace and industry when I found out AEBN was hiring. Pretty boring story, really, I know.

But there it is.

Unfortunately the ideals of America are not necessarily something to aspire to. You are a pretty good example. Someone crowing about america but trolling the boards looking for an offshore haven to make your jerk off machine. But you go ahead and bestow to your hearts content.

Re: Girls...

I will feel remiss if I dont do this...

RCourt- Im not sure what all the shit against Liz and April is about. Not sure I care either. However I will say that both of these women have behaved totally professional at the trade shows Ive been with them at.

How many reps ...female or male do you see with an itenerary and a list of people to contact while they are at the show?

Ive seen them CALL affiliates that they couldnt find at the shows just to meet them face to face. While most of the others are at the bar sucking up drinks, buried in a room snorting down powder or just bouncing around shaking their ass work a trade - ass for traffic.

Ill put ANY of our girls up against any other female rep in this business. My guess is 9 out of 10 times youll find that they do more business at a show than most of these do in a year.

When Im working with a rep I dont care about avatar pics or anything other than how I can work that program to make more money.

I know each of them "get" VOD when other so called industry pioneers speculate that the staff is bloated and the company isnt making any money.

NO OTHER AFFILIATE PROGRAM gives you the promotional tools and marketing that AEBN does. These girls have an slew of tools at their disposal and are innovative on how to make them work for an affiliate.

What they dont know - they have support staff backing them up at every corner. So when your knocking em around maybe you should be thinking of how to work with them instead.

How many companies do you know that consistantly keeps 5 sites in the top 200 or less of alexa rankings?

These girls are availible on ICQ,email and at a 1-800 number 5 days a week.
Again what other company comes CLOSE to this level of support?

ZERO.

Ill put either of them up against any rep in this business at anytime.
Chose your chump and we can have a wager if youd like.

*laugh* Oh, right. I tend towards British/ QE spelling most times - more "s" than "z" and so on - because I read a lot more Brit lit than American growing up, so a lot of Americanising of written language looks wrong to my eye. Plus, a lot of my friends online are Canadian and UK denizens, so that probably reinforces it for me.
