isnt is more reasonable to think that if the idea really had merits, that it would be easier to get the top sponsors to get on board and focus on pressuring the top sponsors...

they are the ones buying the traffic... and buying a lot of shit traffic at that. They have the last and final word as far as what traffic they will pay for.

they have the power to implement it slowly and change the mentality of webmasters slowly... i.e. setting up different payouts for "approved" and "unapproved" traffic... or various payout structures, making it more profitable to follow tgp2 methodology

afterall, you are talking about the future of the business... increasing the profitability of the business. Seems like the top players would have a vested interest in cooperating.

what about free hosts? they are in the same boat. dont they have a vested interest in implementing rules or supporting a profitable model?

Seems to me, that it is easier to convince 25 serious businessman that your ideas will help their companies long-term profitability... than to convince countless, "here today, gone tomorrow" jerk off's.

Taz - everything you say is correct.

I guess I just don't like free Host websites because there is absolutely no way to track them down and make them be responsible for content theft. You can get them removed but they just pop up somewhere else a few minutes later.

With hosted websites I can usually track down the owner and maybe even get him to pay for what he has stolen. I know they can hide but at least I have a chance.

As I said before Free Host site builders have nothing to lose so that makes them less likely to play fair or to pay up when busted.

It has less to do with the type of hosting used, and more to do with the site owner.

How much bandwidth is that paid hosting site owner using when they redirect their gallery after it's been listed? How much bandwidth is that same owner using when they submit a site to link list on a paid hosting domain and then once it's listed, change it to redirect?

I've seen this particular move a lot on our link site. The site submitted is on paid hosting, they submit a mirror page to the link list, once it's listed and they see traffic hitting it they redirect that mirror page to either a sponsor or to their site index page. We run a checker at random intervals looking for things like this, but how many link sites and tgp's don't do that?

Do the math on the price of a domain vs. the amount of pay per signups that can be made and you'll see it's not just free hosted sites that are abusing the link lists and tgps.

Taz - there is one big difference between a free host site and a hosted site.

The hosted site owner has to pay for his bandwidth usage so he has to think before posting a gallery. The free host site owner has absolutely nothing to lose.

It is impossible to compete with people who have nothing to lose.

Some of the big guys lurking here are of course chuckling about this arguement because they all use the loopholes in this (FREE HOST - TGP) mess to their advantage by employing teams of Free Host TGP builders .

I just wish there were some big traffic TGPs that would do business with legitimate hosted websites only. Whatever the posting rules may be.

We run a small link site and see just as much abuse from paid hosting as we do from free hosting. With the price of domains being so low it only takes one sale to more than cover that purchase price. So those domains wind up getting booted from the links lists and tgps, no big deal to those webmasters.

Also.....there are no TGP "rules"...each and every single website/tgp makes up it's OWN guidelines according to what's best for THEM. Some want to make all the money themselves, some want their surfers to find LOADs of free porn and be happy and then still some want to have the best of both worlds.
The proliferation of TGP's means nothing to most webmasters bottom line as you can

I've been following the thread of TGP2 since it's inception. I like people who think outside the box.

From what I've seen TGP2 was never about reforming TGP abuse. It's about marketing, plain and simple. It's about giving webmasters an alternative to the choking tgp rules that are more surfer friendly than webmaster friendly.

The stats are looking pretty good, but it's the gallery layout here that counts. Those test galleries are laid out to be the complete opposite of what is accepted at the most popular regular TGP's.

I've had the girls make a few more galleries taking that concept one step further and those will get submitted today. I'll let you know how they do :)

I know I'm going to get slammed hard for this but I see the rule changes of TGP2 to be about as effective in reforming TGP abuses as putting a colourful bandage on a terminal cancer.

The only way I would ever (again) put in the amount of hours it takes to be successful in TGP posting is if TGPs would bar FREE adult websites.

TGPs are almost useless for promoting real websites these days because you have to spend thousands of dollars on bandwidth competing with teenagers who have nothing to lose by using FREE sites and ripping off images for their galleries. When they get caught they just move to another FREE location.

Affiliate programs laugh their asses off all the way to the bank so off course they don't care.

Why do I care ? I'm a content producer and I'm tired of having my content stolen and scattered to the wind by FREE websites. Yes they (the FREE site operators) remove the offending sites when I complain, but it is impossible to police.

I just pulled stats on the couple of TGP2 galleries I have up to test the theory. Sponsor click thru's on those galleries are ranging from 1:15 to 1:30 depending on the niche of the gallery. So the concept does appear to be working. If these guys ever get a good traffic flow going they may be onto something here.

Personally I think the idea of TGP2 rocks.I think there is way to much free hard core out there, in large part demanded by regular TGP owners in their rules. TGP2 will give webmasters an alternative to all that BS, not to mention lowered bandwidth bills.

I also think that TGP2 will have a hard time taking off without a lot of support from within the industry. I've seen a couple of sponsors get behind it, and I've seen a free host support it and I applaud those folks. Let's face it this concept is more in line with targeted traffic. If the surfer looks at 5 full size images and doesn't click to the sponsor, what makes anyone think that his looking at 15-20 full size pics will make him click.

The main problem I see with TGP2 is in traffic generation. Webmasters have become accustomed to getting massive hits to their galleries, right now TGP2 can't send that. They are however sending hits and the new gallery format is creating click thru's to sponsors.

Webmasters need to remember, you can't cash a ratio.
