The TLC matches have had a lot of "Holy Shit" moments too...hmm, I may have to pop that tape in "Best of TLC Matches" :)

Mankind's bumps off the Hell in the Cell cage is definately one of the best "Holy Shit!" moments I've ever had in wrestling. Truly scary shit when it happened though. The second one where he fell through the top of the cage especially, as it wasn't planned, and he easily could have been paralyzed or killed.

Though I have to say there are two moments from when I was a kid that totally were "Holy Shit!" moments and both involved Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka. He's one of the guys that got the risk taking where it is today. The first was when he was a "heel" and was wrestling Bob Backlund for the WWF title and he had the match won but decided to go to the top of the cage and do his "superfly" leap and missed! Back then it was a truly shocking thing to behold. The next was when he was he wrestled Muraco in the cage match I mentioned earlier and did the leap from the top of the cage and hit it. I remember watching it as a teenager and I was going apeshit over it and pissed my parents off!! :>)) Totally blew me away.

There's nothing better for a wrestling fan than experiencing a "Holy Shit!" moment or a "mark out" moment. It's one of the things that gets you hooked into watching it.

You don't have to be oold to remember matches like that - you can get most really old matches on video somewhere - my brother is a huge wrestling fan and he has videos of matches that are in black and white!

I'm still pretty young (22) so when i think wayyyy back in my mind - i only go back about as far as Hulk Hogan being 'the man', I vauguely recall Big Boss Man being around but my fav when i was young was Brutus The Barber Beefcake - I used to love when he'd get his opponent and knock em out then shave their heads!

Elegant Angel has pulled ads from negative reviews. Extreme Associates pulled double page spreads for a year over bad reviews. Legend Dist pulled ads over bad press relating to Max Hardcore and lack of AVN award nominations.

Yes there are politics going on always and I don't think AVN has a clear line between the editorial and advertising depts, but they are a business and a successful one at that- clearly distinct from the whipping post nature of this board

For all I know, AVN does not hold themsleves out as real journalist or real news. Infact I think they may be just a press release orginization that gives information, and sells.

CJ the statements I made are generlizations - but I would say your experiences are the exception that proves the rule.

Also your statement that all media makes money by advertising is true, however TIME Magazine ( and other semi-real journalism - I am anti-press for hte most part, I think they are only looking to further their own agendas - but this is a whole new topic)...

However, Time Magaize does real NEWS stories, and is not affraid to make comments that are newsworthy about companies who advertise.

An example is the Ford Motor Company, when they were having tire problems the news orginizations reported and slammed ford and the tiremakers, at the same time taking advertising for the newest cars Ford puts out.

You can CJ. But AVN traffic is surfer heavy. Oprano has no surfer traffic. If Mike wanted to boost Oprano traffic, he could do it any time he wanted to.

When you buy advertising on webmaster resource site I think you are just making people aware of who and what you are........so that day when a webmaster says to himself 'shit Blahcash who i have used for 3 years and always done well with had turned to crap, who should i use next........what about that Hustler stuff I see on Oprano...i will go check them out"....or ...... Which is why I liked Luke Ford's site, the idea behind it anyway, cockholsters exposed. But this is a very incestuous business, there is no room for muckraking journalism.

AVN is a propaganda machine for anybody who can afford to buy space in their properties.

I take a look at the banners flying on AVN's websites. They aren't reaching half the people they could by advertising here. Because webmasters with big traffic read and lurk here.
I see all these online adult DVD stores buying expensive ads on AVN sites, they're reaching surfers mostly, which is so cost ineffective. You want to sell toys and DVD"s, PPV movies, you come here to Oprano and convince webmasters who can produce the traffic.

Traffic is everything it always will be. The traffic represented by the 4,500 daily visitors to this board is probably 10 fold or more greater than the webmasters who visit AVNOnline.

Danni Ashe is hailed as a leader, and is always quoted for news articles because she is actively working to get her name out. She has a person who deals with the press to set this things up.

This is exactly what our friends Seth used to do. Dave Marslack is good at this as well.

I personally have been approached a few times about intervies, I have turned them down.
